  1. first time it happened to me ever. someone somewhere deserve a special place in hell for coding the software like that. but its easy to fix. you just need the game folder and the virtual install folder to be on the same drive. doesnt really matter where NMM or the mod folder are. or where the main steam application is. (if the game is in an alternate steamapp folder. ) i don't know about non steam version. i don't think there are any.

  2. all of this is crazy in the head. steam and nmm are on E. skyrim SE is on E. mod instal fine. Fallout new vegas and fallout 3 are on G and mods still install fine. but for some reason. having fallout 4 on H make nmm unable to manage the mods.

guess i'll move stuff from E to D and H. reinstall fallout 4 to E or G. the hidden curse of having 15 drives. why do i have a nasa grade computer anyway.

mojodajojo, I'm removing your content for you now. Vyper and alt3rn1ty, I've already removed your content.

And make sure my wishes are respected on ModDrop too, or any other site you launch in future.

"olympusgames, GMOD or ModDrop sites ( or users thereof ) do not have permission, to upload or redistribute any of my files, images or descriptive content, past, present or future."

Just reiterating the quoted post to indicate my wishes remain extant.

Thank you for necro-ing this. I wasn't aware moddrop was skylar's creation. Can't believe he's still at it.

It's a decent UI, I'll give him that, but I'm not so sure I agree with "modpacks" (as I dont know if it gets the latest version of mods, even if it did, it may no longer work with the collection - either way takes away from mod author control) and am not sure if he is actually, ethically gathering content.

    Probably not.

His software come up as infected with trojan in virus-total and herdprotect. The review on WOT are bad. He's still going at it.

I'm glad i don't have mod. Not yet at least. If i ever do, They will be locked with a password. Which mean manual installation or redoing the packaging upon download before being able to install with a manager [vortex/modorganiser/wryebash/nmmclassic/nmmgithub/fmm/whatever]

Lock the files archives with a password and you change the password every month.

The only place where the password can be found is on your page, so , naturally, only those that have gone trough the process of loading and reading the nexus mod page actually have the password to unlock the archive.

I am committing a sin of the forum heavens. I am necro-ing. Very sorry for that. Can't believe i would knowingly do that in 2020.

I'll give you one reason why... Users like me. I just started playing Knights of the Old Republic and it's sequel. I used several mods I downloaded here that were archived from GameFront. When I came here today, they were gone. Without this explanation, I would have been left in the dark.

a fair enough reason. just me not doing enough logic after 8 hour of trying to understand thousand of immigrants vague desire for coffe and donut.

    Addblock are super evil.
We need a paywall and it should be at least 100$ per month.
There is no reason for nexus mod to proceed with diversification. it should rest on its success and do nothing new forever.
    Paid mod are the best.
We need more add, at least as much as what we get on YouTube or on our cellphones.
We NEED to up the download speed for premium and supporter to higher height. say 10 MBs, 25MBs ... no, pay to download is the best. lets up to 1GBs.
Because its totally realistic to get absurdly high download speed and also because the download speed we had before weren't enough at all!!
Nexus mod can totally afford any download speed with ad alone.
Addblock software are for child. its an abnormal thing that should not be used. those that even remotely entertain the idea of their implication in society are whiny child.
[at this point i don't even know what to write anymore. troll don't exactly express themselves clearly on their opinions, they just come and tell you that you're an object of idiocy. they don't even say what their opinion is on the presented subject. or they pretend and state something obvious and follow up with a insult to trick you into confusion.]

at this point, i just hope a moderator will pass by and delete this. I'm ashamed to be even loosely related to anything that's written here. if one does pass by and delete this. I'd like to give him my thank for deleting this. and i mean it honestly. its not malicious or lying on the surface. it seem that my original opinion was not welcome to begin with.

ff7legend wrote: @magicgun: There were instances of folks getting viruses from Nexus a few years back. Hackers got into the system & replaced several popular mod files (SkyUI on Oldrim Nexus being one of those) with .exe files that would auto-execute when downloaded, thereby infecting the user's machine with malware/spyware/trojans/worms/etc. This is why Nexus now employs a virus scanner each time a file is uploaded to the sites. However, there are issues with the virus scanner that Nexus has yet to fix. These include instances of infinite virus scan loops & the scans being slower than molasses in many cases. I know larger files take longer but even the smaller files can sometimes take over an hour to scan/get stuck in an infinite virus scanning loop. I & many other users have reported these issues on both the Nexus Forums as well as the Bug Tracker on Github. The issues have yet to be fixed & really need to be addressed.

There was also an issue back in '13 where hackers breached the Nexus & compromised nearly 6 million user accounts. A site-wide e-mail was sent out requiring all users to change their passwords due to said breach. Saying it's impossible to get a virus from Nexus or otherwise impossible to get hacked using Nexus is inaccurate/not a smart way of thinking. I use uBlock Origin & uBlock Plus to keep ads/pop-ups off my web browser. Many ads still utilize Adobe Flash Player, which is a haven for malware/spyware/trojans/worms/ransomware. This is why I employ an ad blocker but I also purchased a lifetime Premium membership back in '14 due to all the rampant issues with downloads on the old system/the newer CDN.

i ear you ff7legend. still i don't believe nexus mod to be a fundamentally dangerous website. those examples you described are essentially exterior actors. there is no real concrete reason for any antivirus to flag nexus mod as an dangerous platform.

I use ad-block at work, but not at home.
I constantly check the site to answer any users of my mods, but don't download anything at work. I let ad-block on at work to avoid unnecessary usage of company bandwidth and resources from my machine.

Will I still have my download limited as an ad-block user?

    interesting point. Bump
  10. So I just tested it out. That is genuinely useless, that command does rename things. To one of those two options.

Why does this even exist if it's so useless.

you know you could have just open the racemenu using console and change your name here ?

oh!... thats an insane necro im doing right now.

operaghost wrote: This mobile device based web design trend should stop. Should have kept the old as an option. Now the things that used to fit on one handy space, require more scrolling and what-other voodoo. Whoever designed this, did not design it for PC. Big panels, big banners, and need for extra scrolling and clicks. Alright, you wanted a fresh change, but why remove old one that actually worked. It may have been old and 'ancient'. but it worked. Was quick and was efficient. Now you have more bling and equally less functionality. I am no fan of all this big panels, and flashy designs. I do prefer functionality and now I have lost it. Oh, well I tried to keep using old one as long as I could, but seems now someone turned the switch. And while design itself is not bad, its bad for a mod hosting site.
HomicidalGrouse wrote: What functionality did you "lose"?

operaghost wrote: Efficiency and speed on finding files that maybe interesting. What can i say I am no fan of mobile-visuals. Maybe if I'd be skimming mods on a phone, or tablet, I might see it different, I've always favored more compact and minimalism designs that focus on efficiency rather than bling. So now I see 20 panels per page instead old 30, and while drop down offers quick sorting, hoping around categories has become slower.

As side note for example my win 10 uses also Classic Shell - I do not deny it maybe just question of habit and preferences. For me old design and layout felt perfect. New one less. As i said its not bad design, just 'not as good' design in my eyes.

I may have not looked into this too deeply (as I have been using old version up to this moment), but it seems I need to do more clicks/scrolls to achieve same result a la I immediately missed the right hand categories option. Now it is on top, includes extra scrolling and ... more scrolling. Old right hand tab was visible on its full options, and without extra actions/clicks, you were able to navigate while scouting for new potential mods to use.

I would place the 'refine results' back on right or remove scrolling by making it a drop-down menu.

At the end of the day, I've been member over decade and hardly this change would chase me away or make me visit any less. I get used to it like with all changes in past.
pingvinch wrote: What did we lose? - Well, mod browsing functionality which is the main reason why most people go to this site.

Before you could easily choose a category and even type in keywords, to find selected mods. Also when you hovered with your cursor over a mod it displayed the short description. Now if the description doesn't fit in the window you have to open the mod's page to see it. Fewer mods per page as well; and lastly for some reason this orange color scheme is straining my eyes a lot. I'm not kidding... I can hardly look at the screen after writing this.

dont get your hope up for greysemonkey. firefox is doing absolutely everything tey can to try to annihilate all form of plugin. anf greysemonkey is still not compatible with v57 and it will never be because it need to be recoded from scratch and itll probably have a diferent name when it will be done.
