  1. How hard would it be to simulate a ghoul's voice for ghoulish characters? it wouldn't need to be perfect; after all ghouls tend to sound pretty scratchy. There are already several voice packs for the main protagonist to deepen his/her voice or increase his/her pitch. i've seen voice mods that add new effects to synth's voices too so i got to thinking, most of these mods -i would assume- were procedural processed by applying filters and pitch changes to each and every voice file via some kind of audio sampling program. But what if someone ran a "garbling" sound filter over the audio or "bit-crush" the audio to scratch up the speech? Ghoulish protagonists would be possible. Me, i'm using the deepest male voice pack but it just makes him sound like the narrator from 'How it's Made' or Jason Damron from ShoddyCast... Also, Fallout3 and New Vegas had optional ghoul masks that would deter any feral ghouls from attacking on sight. Fallout4 has a perk that deters certain ghouls from attacking based on chance but what if there was a way to either modify the perk or create a new one that would either temporarily make feral ghouls passive or simply make them "friendly" to the player? i've done some digging and i can't seem to find any "faction" settings to tweak to set this up. if anybody knows how to make or modify perks, this would be helpful for immersion if playing as a ghoul or even just in use as a disguise for smooth skinned players. Just a thought.
  2. Hell if i know what fixed it but everything seems to be back to normal! i just started playing another character save, came back to the broken one and everybody's back to normal.
  3. Edit: By The Nine, MY PROBLEMS ARE GONE! All throughout the College questline i've had issues where scripts wouldn't execute, events wouldn't show up, items wouldn't be given and certain NPCs would either be missing dialogue options or just not talk at all. i had to console my way through 3 of the 8 quests using "set stage" commands. With each hurdle passed, the quests would continue normally for the most part. i've already done the entire questline with a different character before so i was content to just watch the skipped dialogue and scenes on YouTube. i either had to auto-complete a quest or skip ahead several steps. The game was smart enough to just assign the newest quest to my journal every time so everything would work just fine and proceed as normal. All i had to do was wait, sleep or fast travel and all the world's wrongs would right themselves. -But now that i've finally finished the final quest, only a handful of events have finalized! i was awarded the Arch-Mage's quarters and given keys by Tolfdir, the Psyjic dudes came and whisked away the Eye of Magnus and everything seemed fine so i left to do some more questing elsewhere. Now, several in-game days and hours of real time later, i've finally returned to the College to find not all loose ends were tied. Tolfdir seems fine but everybody else in the College is still freaking out as if Ancano were still wreaking havoc. "To Oblivion with them all, every man for himself!", "Somebody do something!!", "We should have never brought that damned thing here!". Nobody but Tolfdir or Bookworm-Gro-whatshisface will talk with me! Also, the 3 Psyjics have re-appeared in the main chamber (with no Eye) and just stand there. They won't leave. They just mutter their single lines and stare at me. Using "disable" and "enable" don't seem to do anything to fix the NPCs and the quest within my journal is complete so i don't know what else to do. Anybody have any idea how to fix this? is there a way to "normalize" all the NPCs? Edit : PROBLEM WENT BYE-BYE! Praise Talos!
  4. i found a solution! i was having my OWN music looping glitch and i figured out how to fix it. Just like the combat music looping bug, all you have to do is identify the peice of music that's playing and disable it. Open the console with "~" and type in, "help mus". - This will give a list of ALL the game's music files and variations. Use the PAGEUP and PAGEDOWN keys to scroll up and down the generated list. if you type, "addmusic" and then any one of those songs listed, it will play. if you type in, "removemusic" and the song name, it will stop. So all you have to do is identify the song that's annoying you and disable it. Unfortunately, there's no way to stop ALL running tracks, so you'll have to identify the annoying loop yourself. Try starting songs that sound like it might be the tune you're stuck hearing. Once you stumble onto the song that's been looping, it's easy to turn off. ( i can't remember any of the songs' names, so keep in mind that i'm making them up! ) The song titles are pretty self explanitory and sometimes it'd easy to spot on the list of songs, but if the song you have looping is a combat tune, try typing in "addmusic MUSCombat1", listen to see if that's the song, then type, "REMOVEmusic MUSCombat1", and it'll stop. if that's not the song, then try, "addmusic MUSCombat2", "addmusic MUSCombat3" or "addmusic MUSCombat4" or whatever. Just keep trying each song until you identify the troublesome loop, then remove it with "removemusic whateverthesongtitleis". -Kawai Tei-
  5. imagine playing Skyrim for 3 hours with this playing and nothing else. i've never had to deal with the combat music looping bug that so many others have experienced, but at least i know how to deal with it using the console. The "removemusic" command can force any peice of audio stop... ...but only if you know the files' names. i can NOT figure out what the damned file name for this peice of music. "help MUS", brings up a listing of every MUSC (music) file with "MUS" in the name, but obviously this one has an different file name than the rest. "MUSTavern" and "MUSTavernB" are the only two results i can find on the list that even come close, and considering that there are 6 tavern tunes in the game, it's safe to assume i don't have a complete list. Can anybody think of either another solution to my dilemma or a way around it? Any console commands that might TELL me what file is playing? Another filename prefix i can try? Or is there a way to display ALL the MUSC files with the help function? ("help musc" doesn't work; it only displays file NAMES with "musc" in them, not file TYPES) i've used "addmusic" to start a new song instead, but as soon as it's over or as soon as i "removemusic" it away, the tavern music picks up again. -Kawai Tei-
  6. When Beth put together Dawngard, they laid everything out so ANY type of character could participate, including non-Dovahkin characters. Whether your character is Dragonborn or not, whether or not you've completed 'Dragon Rising' or not or even if you had any intention of starting the main questline, all references to dragons and Dovahkin related dialogue was absent unless you started the main questlne or defeated a dragon. i liked that. And i wish they did the same with Dragonborn. My statement regarding what i "paid for", was really a facetious stretch. However, i'm still disappointed i can't fully experience the add-on fully how i wanted to; freely and completely, without manditory participation. -Kawai Tei-
  7. When i downloaded Dragonborn, i'd already finished the main questline and created several NON-Dovahkin characters. i was looking forward to trompin' around Solstheim and exploring the island freely. Unfortunately for them (and me), half of Solstheim's quests and activities are either blocked off or otherwise inhibitted by Miraak's control. i want what i paid for : a proper Solstheim expansion. Not just a long questline tailored for ONLY DRAGONBORN CHARACTER. i want all my non-Dovahkin characters to have the same opportunity to travel to Solstheim! ...without all the Miraak crap inbetween. No posessed NPCs, no construction around the All-Maker Stones and NO DRAGONS. i was hoping that travelling to Solstheim BEFORE the completion of 'Dragon Rising' or being attacked by cultists would postpone all that garbage. For the record, i HAVE finished the questline for Dragonborn with my Dovahkin character. -Kawai Tei-
  8. So now that i have all this wonderful information, is there a way i can REMOVE plugin data to stop the game from crashing? Or at the very least, is there a way i can somehow REBUiLD my character's save by making a NEW one and copying stats, face data, quest logs, etc. There was an AWESOME program for Oblivion that allowed you to MOVE a character from one save to another clean save. it moved over all their face data and stats so you could moreorless move him/her to a cleaner world. -Kawai Tei-
  9. i can't think of a better way to name the topic. After installing a new mod and royally %!$#ing up my load order, my game started crashing to desktop on the main menu so i panicked and uninstalled it. ...but not before uninstalling a bunch of OTHER mods in hopes of making the newest one work. i removed any mods i wasn't currently making use of with my current character and uninstalled a few that i thought i could simply do without. (armors i don't wear, spells my newest character won't use and locations i'll likely never visit again) i was originally hoping of finding the source of the crash but i gave up on trying to get the new mod to work and decided to forget about it. ( what that mod was no longer matters. it's gone now ) But NOW, because i uninstalled SO many mods and removed so much from my load order, none of my current character's saves will load. My saves are obviously somewhat dependent on assets that i've apparently removed. But hell if i know WHAT mods. Every time i try to load any of my current character's saves, i crash to desktop. i can still load other OLDER characters' saves and start NEW ones without crashing, which leads me to believe that the problem is with my save files. i've already gone through and disabled ANY and ALL mods i'm not actively playing with, i've re-checked every mod my character was actively using and made sure that SKSE and ScriptDragon weren't the issue. But my entire game still crashes after loading those particular save file. is there any way to "normalize" a save file? is there any way to identify what mods my save file is supposed to be using? is the mod load order THAT important or will my saves adapt to the new order if it's changed? Or is there some other way to force my save to load, even with missing assets? Aelwin, my Companions fighter was looking forward to a well-earned vacation in Solstheim but it looks like he's going to have to wait until we can fix his save files. -Kawai Tei-
  10. Reverting to an older save, or even another character's save doesn't fix the issue. But there aren't any new mods that i've installed that modify character dialogue or anything like that. Just to be sure, i disabled most of the newest mods i've installed since before this problem popped up but to no avail. i'll keep experimenting with disabling mods until i get passing results. EDiT : i earlier stated that my other characters and saves were not effected. This was just discovered to be untrue. ALL of my characters are having the SAME issue. No NPCs want to initiate dialogue anymore. -Kawai Tei-
  11. i'm having a problem where EVERY quest is broken that involves dialogue. if ever an NPC wishes to speak with me, they go comatose and stare off into space. This happens whenever an NPC stops speaking with me to address another character. Once their lines are over, one of the two NPCs is supposed to continue talking with me but they won't. in short, NPCs will no longer initiate dialogue with me. Once this happens, there's nothing i can do with the character in question. All i get is, "This person is busy". No console commands seem to snap the NPCs out of their comatose state; even "kill" and "resurrect", which worked in Oblivion. i've already had to skip through the first Companions quest using console commands, but it's simply no fun if i have to update my own journal and bypass so much dialogue! Now to be more specific, this is EXACTLY what happened : Shortly after asking to join the Companions, Kodlak addresses Vilkas, they argue and Kodlak turns back to me. He then stands up from his chair and just...stands there. i used the console to skip ahead and bypassed sparring with Vilkas. i take his sword to Eorlund, trade it for Aela's shield and take it to her. She thanks me, jokes around with Skjor for a second, turns back to me and...just stands there. Somebody please help! -Kawai Tei-
  12. Without recently adding any new mods, all followers in my game -regardless of save- are refusing to follow me. After starting a new game and creating my character, i went out to round up some followers. i started by grabbing Kharjo's amulet so he would become my follower. He accepts my invite and is open to trade equipment and all common follower scripts are available...but he won't FOLLOW me. "Khajiit will follow", huh"?! Then why is he still parading along with that caravan? i don't know what's going on! Just to test, i tried to recruit other followers, most with the same results; they accept my invite, claim that they'll follow, allow trading, follow orders and fight nearby enemies for me BUT...they won't follow me. Stenvar sits back in his chair, Kharjo sticks with this caravan and all the custom followers i have added with mods just stand there. The only other result i've gotten are from mod-specific followers who accept my invite but won't allow follower dialogue. They say, "Lead the way!", and that's it. i can't give them orders or ask them to follow. They just accept my invite over and over with no new results. Nobody will follow me. Just to see if it effected my old saves, i loaded up an older save game with a different character with already-established followers. in all of those games my followers act as normal. However, if i excuse them and attempt to recruit them again, they pretend as though i never asked. The only new mod i've installed was Requiem, but it claims to be compatible with UFO and makes no changes to followers. Turning it off does nothing. There's no other mod i've added since the last time Skyrim followers worked correctly or would have any effect on followers. i don't completely understand hoe follower scripts work so if anybody out there can suggest a solution or even explain what might be going wrong, i'd appreciate the help. -Kawai Tei-
  13. i'm confident it's not the CPU temp. No other game or program slows down the same way Skyrim does. As soon as i quit Skyrim, everything else on the computer runs great. i could easily quit Skyrim and hop into another game if i felt so inclined. ...unfortunately, all i want to play is Skyrim. -Kawai Tei-
  14. When i first installed Skyrim on release day last year, i had to tweak the game for almost 2 days before i could run it at a decent FPS. ironically, turning the graphics settings UP fixed the majority of my problems. After finding some ini tweaks and reading through some guides online, i figured out how to keep my game looking stellar while getting a nice FPS boost. Since then, i've been running the game happily with no issues. Now, fast forward to last week; i bought a new monitor for my computer. Once i opened Skyrim's pre-game options menu to change my resolution, i was greeted with the message, "Setting graphics to optimum settings! LOL" and all my hard work and tweaking were over-written with non-working options. My game is now virtually unplayable past the 3 minute mark. Just as when i first installed the game, the first few minutes of the game look AWESOME. i get a solid 60 FPS with zero slow-down. The game looks great, keys are responsive and mouse movements are fast and fluid. Except no matter where i am, what i'm doing or what's being loaded and shown on screen, the game drops to 5-30 FPS instantly at around the 5 minute mark, give or take. i've followed the same guides as before, restored all the ini tweaks i downloaded way back in November of last year and nothing seems to fix the dramatic FPS drop. i've even tried HiAlgo Boost with no change in performance. All it seems to do is drop my graphics and resolution down to that of a Windows95 game with the same 5-30 FPS drop as before. My specs are : AMD Athlon 64bit Dual Core 3800+ Manchester 2.0GHz GeForce 8800 GTS (2GB) 4GB physical memory WinXP Pro Anything beyond that is superficial. Any and other games i play work flawlessly; Crysis2, Half-Life2 and other Source games, GTA4, Fallout3/NV, and a pimped-out, fully modded, visually tweaked Morrowind that -currently- out-performs Skyrim. i don't use ENB shaders, i'm play-testing on a clean save file, my graphics are set as reasonably low as i can get them, i'm using the newest drivers for everything on my system, i've installed the AMD multicore patch for Skyrim, i've turned any and all graphics-specific mods off in my game and i still can't play for more than a few minutes at a time. And would you believe that having Skyrim set all my graphics options to EXTREMELY LOW, actually makes things worse? The game actually RUNS worse than it LOOKS. Please help me? All the reading i can find for possibly fixing my game is old news and pre-dates all of Skyrim's patches. -Kawai Tei-
  15. FOUND iT!! And it works pretty well with Guard Faction Armor (disguises). Now my Stormcloak and Stormcloak supporting characters are attacked on sight by imperial guards and vice-versa. it doesn't work AS WELL as New Vegas' system but even theirs was a bit glitchy. -Kawai Tei-
  16. Well, my current character is more-or-less a defected imperial soldier. i wanted some added challenge by making all imperial soldiers attack me on sight. i don't want others to attack, just imperial soldiers in uniform. Obviously, i don't plan on doing any imperial quests so there wouldn't be any problems that i can think of...at least aside from those i'm expecting. i've found (and used) the faction commands for other characters but... addtofaction <faction ID> <faction rank>} ...only gives two variables : faction id and rank. i don't think there's a value for "enemy", is there? i've tried adding myself to all different factions with the hopes of finding ONE that pisses off the imperials in Solitude but i haven't found any. if the UESP listed factions' enemies, this would be a whole lot easier. in Morrowind, it was easy to modify faction enemies by simply joining an enemy faction via the console. i've even searched for some unlisted factions like those that make Thalmor attack on site and none of those seem to work either. As for... setrelationship ...it doesn't work on factions, just individuals. Adding myself to certain factions certainly helps to make other attack me, but never JUST imperial soldiers. Adding myself to certain crime factions causes towns people to attack or flee and simply adding myself to enemy factions only drops me disposition with people to 0. Again, i just want imperial soldiers to know who i am and attack...not everybody. -Kawai Tei-
  17. i know you can join a faction, i know you can mod your rank and i'm aware that you can even make bandits friendly. But is there a command (or mod?) to make certain factions aggressive or attack on sight? if your character is a Stormcloak sympathizer or -even worse- member, imperial soldiers just stroll on by. And even if your character is sporting full imperial armor, Stormcloak soldiers don't seem to mind at all! i want imperial soldiers to attack me. i want Stormcloaks to threaten me. i don't want to be able to shop freely in Solitude as a Stormcloak member. Nor would i expect to stomp through Windhelm looking like an imperial spy. if i can, i'd be happy just modding my faction alignment via console. -Kawai Tei-
  18. i have my MGE settings set and tweaked to perfection. i've BEEN playing this way for several weeks now with no slow-down. Now all of a sudden, the game is nearly unplayable. i haven't changed any MGE settings, changed video drivers or done anything else with my PC as a whole. i can play for 5 minutes at a time with graphics set relatively high as i have done for hours at a time. But now, no matter where i am (basic interior, detailed exterior) or what i'm doing (fighting, adventuring, or even just reading dialogue), my FPS drops to 1-5. The worst part is that even my ingame mouse pointer slows to a crawl! Just to quit the game takes time and patience. i have to sloooooooowly move my cursor towards the "quit" button or my cursor will zing right past it! LOL The first 5 minutes or so are clean, crisp, fast and fun. However my frame rate drops from 80+ to nothing within a few seconds and i rage-quit and reload. When i come back, the game runs just fine again. i've actually lowered my video settings, dropped draw distance, ai distance, turned off AA...and i get no better results. -Kawai Tei-
  19. i'm sure this exists already; or at least i'm hoping it does. Most mods that make gunfights and the like realistic by editing the weapons' stats themselves. Meanwhile, the same goes for the odds of dismemberment. Modders tweak the values of the actual weapons to get the desired taste that they want. This means that if you're like me and want combat realism (ie: the inability to take repeated bullets to the head) and sensible dismemberment, (ie: no exploding limbs from handgun fire) at the same time, you're pretty much out of luck. The same goes for additional weapon mods and the like; new items added by mods go virtually unchanged! i want combat realism : it should make the game a big challenge without being unrealistic. Normally i'd just turn up the difficulty in the options menu but if i can't take a shotgun blast to the skull, then neither should Raiders! The damage-dealt to damage-taken ratio is far too unfair in the vanilla game, no matter what difficulty! But i also want dismemberment realism : Shotguns at close range can sometimes take out a head or a limb, but NOT handgun shots from 30 feet away! Grenades mangle limbs, mines blow off legs, rockets send parts flying...but a sniper round to the forehead could never sever the neck! Seriously. Problem is, i want these at the same time. Any suggestion? -Kawai Tei-
