[Fallout 3 continues but randomly stops reacting ,please help]

I started playing fallout 3 today and it was going fine until it stopped reacting to my keyboard/mouse .It keeps happening in the tutorial , just after the police gun a guy down in a hallway .It keeps going through with the actions that I was doing when it freezes and won't even pause unless I alt+tab out of it.I have no idea what's happening but it's extremely annoying .I apologize in advance in case it is the easiest thing to solve
