Lamplight Beta 3 is finally here! This release is mostly the introduction scenes in front of the town of Lamplight. You can find Lamplight: The Bandit Guild at these web sites: The Nexus; http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/15548 TESAlliance; http://tesalliance.o...-bandits-guild/ From the ReadMe file: http://lamplight.pcgamingnetwork.com/tmp/lamplight04-r-upload.jpg Mod web site: Lamplight Bandit Guild For information on the bandits in Skyrim read the Wikia page here: Wikia Bandit Info Always check the installation instruction as they may change frequently! Lamplight - The Bandit Guild of Skyrim /******************************/ /* Lamplight Beta 03 /* By: Brewskie (Fragginborn) /* 7/3/12 /******************************/ Voices: Pengae............... Ingenue All other voices ... Brewskie If you would like to voice some of the characters in Lamplight please visit the Voice Actors thread at the mod's web site: http://lamplight.pcg...ic.php?f=2&t=19 -------------------------------------------------------- The premise of the mod is to create a new guild of Bandit outlaws. They are all over Skyrim but where do they come from? What's their story? I hope to answer those questions, er... at least make something up :) Lamplight - The Bandit Guild is now in beta. This means that the heart of the story and quests are now going to be created. To read the story line there will be a special post at the mod web site link above. Even though the mod is in beta nothing is finalized, including the lighting, buildings or anything else. Anything can change as it is being developed. The mod starts with a visit to the Southern entrance to the town of Lamplight where a group of bandits are at guard. The player is informed that they are not welcome and will attack of the player doesn't leave. As the player walks away he is confronted by "Scurrvy" who gives the player instructions on how to get in to Lamplight. Once the player follows the instructions given by Surrvy the bandits guarding the entrance will have disappeared. This is only temporary as there will be a new confrontation with these bandits in the next release of the mod (Beta 3) You can get in to Lamplight after the initial quest. If you would like to see most of the characters that will later be in the quests within Lamplight go in to the Tavern. BTW...you can disregard the dragon sitting on the Tavern...he will be in one of the quests later in the game. Remember, the more input I get from the people using the mod the better I can make it. So please give me your thoughts! /****************/ /* Gaming Notes */ /****************/ While the bandits greet the player as I intended they sometimes take a while to actually walk up to the player. I am working on finding a solution to this. When the initial greetings are finished the player finds themselves in a certain place. I left the door unlocked so you can get out and into lamplight. The next version will be 1st quest for the guild. /****************************/ /* Conflict With Other Mods */ /****************************/ Too early to know. Just sit down and imagine a big fancy video for your project. What does it look like? What kind of shots are there, what kind of sounds, music? Then plan it out and make it, and just keep working on it until you're happy with it. I have all kinds of ideas Alexander It's implementing them where I have the problem....just like modding Skyrim. A million ideas, but how do I get there Even supposedly simple stuff like splicing and editing are things I've never been shown or picked up on. I just edited my first audio while modding Lamplight. I must have helped a dozen modders over the years (especially Wolfenstein)...but I've always been an idea man. So I figured I'd do snippets and kinda explain the story as I go along, kind of like movie shorts I guess -

Ooops! Here it is... https://www.youtube....h?v=NCZZmhTd-BE Sorry 'bout dat! The two vids are mostly to show the facetious and smart-alecky Scurrvy who seems to follow the player around and mess things up....or does he? -

Thanks loki ! Here's the second snippet: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8T5LWE_iSY I wish I knew more about making big fancy videos because it's something I pretty much suck at lol -

The town of Lamplight is now in beta and the creation of the quests is now set to begin. You can find the Lamplight mod at the Nexus and TESAlliance The Nexus: http://skyrim.nexusm...le.php?id=15548 The following is Part One of the story line of Lamplight. For those who may be interested in helping with this rather large endeavor please PM me and we'll talk. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lamplight - The Bandit Guild of Skyrim Part One The story starts with a note delivered by the Hold's Courier. The note begs the Dovahkiin to meet a certain person to learn of a great treasure stolen by the Bandits. Intrigued, you meet this person and soon learn what it is that these, otherwise moronic, bandits have obtained. It turns out to be the priceless "Great Axe of King Torygg". Though murdered by Ulfric, the King's Axe is still legally the property of his beautiful wife, Elisif and she wants it back – NOW! You also learn that other clans and guilds want this axe and are in a "bidding war" for it. It's a bidding war that involves all the nefarious factions of Skyrim killing anyone in the way to obtaining it from the bandits. The Dovahkiin must act quickly to ensure the rightful owner regains possession of it before it is lost for forever. Your quest to retain the Great Axe of Torygg begins with a trip to the bandit controlled town of Lamplight. SPOILERS!

I wanting to do a pretty complex opening scene for my mod but it is above my abilities. So I am hoping someone will give me a hand. Here's what I'm wanting to do: If you are interested in helping with Lamplight I would very much appreciate it :)

I've been trying to get an NPC to rent rooms but I am missing something. I've read that it needs dialog and/or aliases or something. I've copied from several vanilla inn keepers and I thought I had everything that's required....Bed to link to, a few factions created, a vanilla inn keeper script added, and so on. Are there other things, like dialog and aliases you have to create to do this? Thanks!

The best way to see what are in the cells are to open them up in CK and look around Just don't move or delete anything :) Well that's the thing.. They all have the plains district in them! 0_o I don't know what's the difference. It's hard sometimes to get around the editor. Especially if you're looking for something specific. I find it easiest to zoom out a bit so I can travel around faster. Also, as you move around you'll see the cell changes, right? Well, move the columns over and it will tell you where on the map that cell is located. Like the mod I'm working on right now is located at coordinates -10 -3 in the editor. just put those numbers in the two boxes and press "GO" and you're there. It makes it a LOT easier to navigate to where your mod is when you're trying to find it.

Greets! I'm trying to get a script to work where the player can teleport into an interior cell while mounted on a horse. I have a feeling that the non-ability to travel mounted on a horse into towns is completely hard-coded into the engine, but I'm trying to figure out a work around for it. What I have thus far is: ObjectReference Property TeleportMarker auto Event onTriggerEnter(ObjectReference objRef) if(objRef == game.getplayer()) Game.GetPlayer().MoveTo(TeleportMarker) endif EndEvent This should get the xmarkerheading ref that's within the cell (my mod) through the properties and move the player to it when entering the trigger box. What happens with the above script is the player is still mounted on the horse, and there is a pause as it loads the cell, then all you see is the void with the player character in a sitting position without the horse....just floating there as if the engine won't render the cell environment. I've also tried: Game.FastTravel(TeleportMarker) And what happens with that is the player instantly lands at the origination point and dismounts the horse. The 1st script above works if walking, but a load door would be better to use if that's all I needed. Anyone have any ideas how to get this to allow riding a horse into the cell? Thanks!
