  1. I am heavy into video editing and write articles about it in an online Linux magazine, so to upgrade is more for that than gaming but since it's close to new build time I figured M2 pci 3.0 x4 and all the other goodies that go with it so a new build again should be 3 years out. I have been looking into mod creation and the type of coding it requires and think I'll give it a whirl also.
  2. Thank you for the info, at this point I believe I will wait about 6 months to upgrade so some pricing will get more realistic on the x99 platform.
  3. Actually I have an M2 pcie 3.0 x4 in mind with sli x16, x16 3.0 setup.
  4. Fallout 4 maybe? (rubbing hands briskly together) Fallout 4? (grabs wife and dances in a ring around the posies circle with her) Yesssss! I believe I'll have a cold one early today and reminisce about the Fallout New Vegas announcement party. Thanks for the heads up.
  5. Doing a little more research on what I intend to do with my build, I realized that I will be needing the 40 pci lanes, that = more money on x99. Decisions, decisions. Thank you for the comments.
  6. Yes its time for a new build and I have decided on intel this time. Is the X99 worth the upgrade? I only ask because the ddr4 ram is stupid expensive and not really a game breaker but if the upgrade path looks promising maybe. My current build is asus msa97 r2.0, amd 4300, nv 660, crucial ssd, and 8gb ram.
  7. Thank you for your replies. I never knew gaming could be this much better.
  8. I am new to modding games but having quite a bit of knowledge of computing have gotten the hang of loot, fo3edit and the deeper things therein. Up to this point I have been modding fallout 3 that does not require steam and everythings going well (I can not imagine using a console to game on anymore-no modding). So I purchased the new vegas dvd and it requires steam even though I have the full dvd. Is there a FAQ I can read informing me of the differences of modding a steam game vs a standalone install?
  9. Yep, I am new at modding this game. Was running EVE before without FWE and MMM with no issues. Appears the FOIP is the issue. Will try again with Blackened. Sorry for wasting our time.
  10. I have an error that I can't figure out. I have reloaded EVE to make sure that the EVE.esp is being unpacked but it does not show up in NMM. There is an EVE.esm that shows but the FOIP load order never says anything about an EVE.esm anywhere. I have tried editing the EVE.esm to unflag the master flag but it still comes back with this error. The log error: [00:04] Background Loader: [EVE - FWE Master Release.esp] Adding master "EVE.esp" [00:04] Background Loader: [EVE.esp] Loading file [00:04] Background Loader: Fatal: <EOSError: System Error. Code: 2. The system cannot find the file specified> [00:23] Background Loader: finished Any ideas?
  11. OK, not sure why activating the master flag on the alternate travel plugin in FWE would be the fix as it was at the top of the load order of the esp plugs but it worked, funny little bug.
  12. I did notice in the nmm plugins menu that the fallout3.esm has greyed out lettering, not sure what this means.
  13. Hello fellow gamers. I am not completly new to modding games (done many of the psp stuff back when) but while following the beginning f3 mod tut I get to the fwe hotfix install and nmm comes back with this error: A problem occured during install: BOSS_API_ERROR_INVALID_ARGS: Master files must load before other plugins. The mod was not installed. Not sure how to correct this. Any ideas?
