Video games can be addictive, especially with a strong sense of progression or social interaction. I used to spend too much time on MMOs, constantly grinding for that next upgrade or trying to keep up with friends in guilds. Looking back, I wasn't even enjoying it half the time. It just became a habit. Once I started focusing on other hobbies, the pull of those games faded a lot.
