Yes that's exactly what i was thinking of. The fact that you can't read the book is not a problem, as long as it looks like a book like in your screenshot.
The only thing is my idea was for the books to be useful mainly to spell casters, but most of the time they don't have shield proficiency, i don't know how and if it is possible to find a solution to this. In my head the player can have a staff in one hand and a book in the other one, like having the Mourning Frost and a book that made your spells ignore cold resistance, if you can't do anithing about the shield proficiency being needed it's okay i'd stilll be happy to play with it like that and just find a way to always have shield proficiency.
some ideas i had are :
- Book of the necromancer : adds 1D6 necrotic damage to every necromancy spell
-Book of the healer : Healing spells now give an aditional 5 health points
-Poetry 101 : you have advantage on charisma saving throws and your persuasion is inceased by 2
-Your teacher's old grimoire : all of your spells now deal and aditional ammout of damage equal to your ability score and all of your spells ignore resistance and turn it into vulnerability for 1 turn
-The ice king's diary : Spells that inflict cold damage always have a chance to inflict chilled and/or frostbiteto your target
these are only a few ideas, if you have some go crazy and chose the names that you want for the books. if you want more ideas just ask me i never run out of ideas
I don't know if i was very clear, english is only my third language and i already don't explain things very well in my main language, anyway thanks for your attention to my idea
