The important part is that after you uninstall the game through Steam, you need to go to the game folder in Windows Explorer and delete anything that remains.
Steam will only remove the files it installed. Anything that might be interfering will remain.
Ok ill try that out, might be a while until i can report back fyi

If you have a good internet connection it might be worth it at this point to wipe your Fallout install directory entirely and re-download the game.
The only thing I can think of is that you have old non-compatible files in there somewhere.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled a few times now but only via steam, Are you knowledgeable of any more thorough methods?

My guess is something from the wrong version of Fallout4.exe or F4SE is being placed into your data folder. Purging mods only removes the files from the data folder. You need to uninstall all mods so that each mod in your mods tab says "uninstalled". just don't tick the remove archive box after clicking remove or you will have to redownload the file.
I Did a full reinstall and wipe of my vortex so it looks pretty barren right now, is their anywhere you know that might be holding these "Rouge Files Of Mass Destruction"? I did have the old version of f4se installed at one point(That being 0.6.23) that could somehow be the culprit.
Also wanted to say thanks to both of you for sticking it out and lending me a hand really appreciate it
Bellow is my mods tab in vortex

Can you post an image(s) of your mods tab?
In vortex?

Update;
I can launch F4SE via the loader, and Vortex now. I have no other mods installed but if i click deploy both methods break, but if i purge mods then it works again.
This reads like some crapy riddle
Is this indicative of anything?

Reinstalling and revalidating 2 times, fallout now launches with F4SE. Going to attempt to add a mod
-
No idea why but i was just looking though my fallout folder an found it was only 2 gigs. Validating files now.
-
Ok, originally i had installed it via vortex so i manually installed it now but I'm still getting the same issue.
I'm guessing this means it a fallout4-f4se issue and not a vortex issue.
-
Ok, ill try each method and get back to you
-
Sorry for the delay, fallout does work via the vanilla launcher. I also tried launching just using the f4se loader exe but it game the same black screen.
-
Nothing seems off to my untrained eye
It states
"init complete"
and in f4se loader
"launching"
Both at the end of the logs btw

I deleted it but still getting the same issue, and no i do not have that installed. I did mess around with the downgrader a while ago and maybe something was left behind that messed up the 2nd next gen update. Any idea where else i could look or other things i could try?

Found it, There's only BackportedBA2Support.dll. Should that be kept?
-
Ok ill try that, but where should i look for that data folder?

Fallout 4: 1.10.984
F4Se: 0.7.2

I've been trouble shooting for the last few days but have been unable to find a fix to my problem. When i launch the game my whole screen goes black and i see the green fallout loading symbol in the bottom right for a little under 2 seconds, then fallout closes. Open to all advice :)

I'm back after about a week away, tried loading it up and it just works now. I will never understand moding...
