  1. So I've recently encountered the problem of having all hold guards start attacking me and my followers on sight. The first time it happened I loaded a save from a few hours earlier, confirmed the guards weren't hostile, and went about my business, only to have them turn hostile again shortly afterwards. Both times it has occurred around the time I first travel to Castle Volkihar as part of the Awakening quest from Dawnguard. I discovered that the RemoveFromAllFactions console command fixed the problem, and after some more experimenting with the CK and console I was able to determine that it is the PlayerFaction (00000DB1) which they are hostile to. While simply removing myself from that faction does appear to fix the issue, I assume that fix will cause more problems somewhere down the line. Is anyone aware of a 'cleaner' way of fixing this problem?
  2. That was pretty much what I was expecting, although if someone wants to take this further than that it would be awesome.
  3. As I said in the OP, the animation was where I was expecting most of the difficulties to arise. As for running around looking silly, as it is if you have a dress cane equipped you run around brandishing it like a club. I don't think this would be too much worse than that.
  4. I'd love to see this mod in NV. I could've sworn I saw it uploaded a day or two ago, and there's even a couple threads about a beta version for NV, but I can't find it anywhere now.
  5. I have virtually no experience with modeling or model editing, so I don't know how much additional trouble it would be to edit the dress cane model to make it look more like a gun cane. But since the whole idea of the weapon is that it's hard to distinguish visually from a regular cane, I don't think it would be out of the question to use the exact same model as the dress cane. Also, making it a crafted gun would make sense. Mr. Holdout might sell the blueprint for it. EDIT: A dart gun variant would 1) make more sense and 2) be downright awesome, but the dart would need a custom effect. Maybe massive initial fatigue damage followed by some fairly heavy DoT, so it would knock someone out and then kill or nearly kill them while they were out.
  6. Yeah, that's more what I was thinking of. Definitely not a shotgun.
  7. Never played that game, but I would assume so.
  8. I noticed someone with a dress cane equipped the other day and thought, wouldn't it be cool if you could have a gun disguised as a cane as a holdout weapon? I've seen this type of gun-cane in movies before (I think The Penguin may have used one at one point), and I don't think creating it would require any new models or textures. You might need to edit an attack animation for it, though. The idea is basically a holdout weapon with a little more punch to it. So here's what I was thinking for the gun. It should use 12.7mm pistol ammo, and probably not hold any more than three rounds at a time. It should have relatively low damage but a very high crit damage. Also, since it's supposed to be a concealed weapon, it probably shouldn't make people explode into bloody giblets. It should also, obviously, used a silenced pistol sound, be somewhat heavier than a normal dress cane, and be on the list of holdout weapons. I was able to find the list but I can't figure out how to edit it. Plus, changing the attack and reload animations is way out of my depth. Let me know if you're going to try this. Thanks!
  9. Well, since no one has shown any interest, I went ahead and made a crappy version by myself. It doesn't have a new model or ammo type.
  10. The other day I was listening to "Big Iron" on the radio while toting a .44 mag, and...I dunno. It just struck me that none of the existing revolvers were quite big enough to do justice to the name. I did a little research and found this. This fits the theme of the game graphically, and, being chambered in the .500 S&W mag, is of a significantly larger caliber than anything currently available in the game. My mod request consists of two parts: 1) A revolver named "Big Iron," in tribute to the song, in a larger caliber than anything currently available in the game. Note that I'm not demanding a photorealistic reproduction of the gun in the link. I felt that particular one would make a good model, but if someone wants to use something else that's fine as well. 2) A new ammo type, the .500 S&W. Now, rather than go to the trouble of editing this in to drop or what have you, I thought it sounded a lot simpler to make it a new craftable ammo type, using only the .50 MG round as a reagent. I'm aware that converting a .50 MG round into a .500 S&W is probably not possible or at least not practical in real life, but this is just for the sake of simplicity for both the player and the creator of the mod. (Also I've noticed that the .50 MG is vastly more abundant in-game than the .45-70 rounds you need for the hunting revolver and Sequoia, which always annoyed me.) I look forward to hearing if anyone is willing to try this. Thanks. Edit: Forgot to mention, it should (obviously) do more damage than any existing guns (including the Sequoia, IMO). This could be balanced my making the ammo recipe have a very high Repair requirement.
