I tried removing the facegendata files and it didn't work. I come back in a few days - it's fine. I'm pretty confused, I have to say, but I'm not going to look a gift fix in the mouth. So thanks for your help all and willoughbian especially, I really appreciate everything.

I'm afraid that hasn't worked. Is it possible that my using the Ctril+F4 fix has somehow caused the issue to persist? Earlier on when I had this problem only the vampire faces or normal faces were broken at any given time, but now it is both at once. Like I said before, I have tried disabling both the vampire face mod and the normal face mods, and trying the game with both off and then with one off and one on, but the problem persists and all NPCs still have this issue. I also just tried turning off USSEP instead of the face fixes but still, the problem remains. I've tried redownloading and reinstalling already but is the only remaining step to just clear everything out and start again? I really appreciate your help and if you have any other ideas I'd be glad to hear them.

I've tried SSEedit, and it does seem to say that Humanoid Vampires is winning a conflict with USSEP. What can I do to fix it?

So I'm running modded SSE and every character but for a follower added by a mod and the player character is suffering from the black face. I've tried disabling all the mods that affect faces, both in terms of textures and models, and the problem persists. I've also followed advice from other threads and used the Creation Kit Ctrl+F4 fix, which hasn't worked at all. I received thousands of "should have been converted offline" error messages trying this.
