Scriptdragon's author has released an update for the latest patch - Get It Here! :)
-
Hi, This morning we experienced temperatures of -15C where we lived, and the frost was astounding, and beautiful. I expect it would be next to impossible to reproduce, but I can just imagine Skyrim's early dawn with a hoar frost effect covering everything like this! Would it merit consideration, or am I hoping for too much? If an effect could be rendered so that frost was apparent on some mornings, and then reverting to a "normal" landscape by midday, say, that would be so magnificent to see. Perhaps I'm hoping for an "All Natural" category of mod? Please forgive me if I'm being hopelessly way off with this idea (especially if someone's raised it previously- sorry!) but I don't know anything about modding myself, I'm just an appreciative end user. Any thoughts?

Hi-Res Patch: Should I remove older HQ mods?
rededge replied to Arnkell's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Hmm? Why do you say that? Don't you think it'll be better than existing texture mods? @Arnkell - Wrye Smash is/ will be the mod utility of choice I think, (but I still use NMM for certain mods written with that utility in mind, ie; those that offer different options during the mod install process) but each to their own. For installing texture mods with Wrye you can see easily what overwrites what, and therefore which texture will ultimately appear in game. Also, importantly, you can simply drag and drop mods in the install order and click "anneal all" and the utility will sort it all out for you. You can install BOSS and a little icon appears at the bottom of Wrye Smash so you can click to sort your load order; as quests and more complex mods surface your load order will become more important- solved easily with BOSS which will do it for you. Last but by no means least it has a "Bashed Patch" which means simply that it will allow a number of mods to play nicely with each other. -
Hi-Res Patch: Should I remove older HQ mods?
rededge replied to Arnkell's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
I've just asked the same sort of thing in Tech Support- logically we should remove existing modded textures to see what Beth has come up with and then overwrite those if any are deemed worth improving. I personally have a lot of extra HRs installed but use Wrye Smash so it'll be easier to remove and or restore later o_O I guess? -
I have High Res Texture Pack 01 & 02 esps ready in Wrye Smash as I vainly attempt to d/l (futile! think Steam has gone into meltdown atm) I don't know whether to uninstall all other texture mods though- hopefully it will be clear exactly what they've improved so I can juggle install order?

Tweaked out .ini settings causing crashes?
rededge replied to Fretwizard93's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
You seem to have added a lot of data to your ini files, and as you've guessed, something is causing problems. My next move there would be to reset your uGrids to 5 default by doing this - Start game as normal. Alt-Tab out of game (persevere with the alt-tabbing as it doesn't always work first time in my experience). Whilst alt-tabbed out of the game, and it is still running in the background, go to your Skyrim.ini and reset "uGridstoLoad=5", and alter "uExterior Cell Buffer" to default 36. Save Skyrim.ini. Alt-tab back into game and open console- type "refreshini". Save game and exit. Delete both Skyrim and SkyrimPrefs ini files. Restart game so both files are reconstructed. Test play and see if any crashes persist. Are you modifying the game in other ways? Are you sure it isn't a mod you've added recently? Are all mods up to date, latest versions of SKSE, Script Dragon, etc.? Although the game probably wouldn't start without those being compatible... My ini files Hope this helps! -
Quote from Realistic Water Textures mod "Troubleshooting" http://skyrim.nexusm...file.php?id=711 - I'd recommend this mod absolutely- a must have! >If you are getting lines in the water like this: 3. http://i.imgur.com/Mvwzv.jpg This is a vanilla problem that was semi-hidden from you due to the rough vanilla water surface. It's caused by the way Bethesda implemented their fog. If it really bothers you, you can try switching to deeper waves in the optional files to hide it again.

Maybe SKSE - don't know if the latest beta version will be OK, haven't finished d/l yet...

+1 - and then use BOSS to sort your load order! http://www.skyrimnex...ile.php?id=1840 http://www.skyrimnex...s/file.php?id=6

I was about to voice exactly the same as the op, and searched "children"! Hopefully this will be addressed - youngsters wouldn't (shouldn't?) be about outdoors much after dark let alone stood about at 03:00 hours. I'm not sure that the kids in these dark and violent times would be quite as bold and "challenging" as they are at present either, there should be a "Cowardly Children" mod to go with the ones out now for the wolves and skeevers! Here's hoping...:)

 I wondered what I'd ****ed up now....

...so that's why my game won't start... EDIT ..and its reset my .inis again. Ouch!

Is Oblivion supposed to crash every half hour?
rededge replied to Nightwolfhunter's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
Bit of a late reply, but don't overlook any changes you've made to your Oblivion .ini in an attempt to improve things. Pretty much all "tweaks" achieve little in my experience, and can cause crashes. A default .ini is stable! Others may well disagree though.... -

rededge replied to luc0002's topic in Oblivion's Discussion
I got ideas from this- http://deadendthrill...ls-iv-oblivion/ Technical how-to = http://tescosi.com/wiki/Oblivion  EDIT - But for "high-end" graphical effects you should investigate/ study /bang head against wall with / persevere with- OBGE and its shaders- http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=30054 Check out the user-uploaded images for jaw dropping effects... -
Parallax mapping: graphical glitches?
rededge replied to Jopo0o's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
If you try a BAIN uninstall you will find that it doesn't remove all the shaders for some reason- go into your shaders folder and look in override and delete all PAR vso and pso files- there is a lot of them. -
Parallax mapping: graphical glitches?
rededge replied to Jopo0o's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
I think you'll find that is as good as POM will get at present- it is a very new addition with the latest version 3 of OBGE, as you are probably aware, and as the author of this shader says himself, it is very much a pre "work in progress". I reckon it'll be awesome if it gets worked on further, but presently, yes, there are some weird glitches as you've discovered. Question is, can you live with it and disregard the oddities- or uninstall it for the time being? -
Thanks for replies, both. Yes, I believe so, corrupted plugin. Anyway, I simply used a system image on my backup external HDD to recover. o_O External HDD = best £60 I've ever spent...

No, TESLOD4Gen ran to completion, what I meant was in the info it spools offthere was a line which read - [00:00] Loader: Error: unknown record type [weird arrow symbol!] w ... and it carried on to end as normal. Oblivion game CTD on startup, btw, as you may well expect!
-
WB 291. Sorry, I don't know how to make a Python patch. I just ran TES4LODGen and it came up with "Loader error unknown record type" in the info window. I don't think I'm savvy enough to be able to correct this myself though. I opened up TES4Edit and right clicked the Oblivion esm and ran check for errors, and it then proceeded to run. and run. and run!! clicked it off again...

Can't play Oblivion at all anymore?
rededge replied to morteh's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
Sure you've not altered anything in your Oblivion .ini? Altered anything in OBGE .ini (assuming you use it obviously!) Updated any drivers lately? Installed any programs, etc? Oblivion shouldn't simply "stop" if it worked before... -
Description of mod first = Good Idea!
-
Just a possibility that's caught me out before- You have updated the .esp from the OBGE shaders package haven't you? It should be 189KB.
-
You do realise that when you install OBGE for the first time and start the game, it takes an age (well, a minute or so...) to actually work ,as OBGE will load every shader, and then you have to go into the OBGE options ingame and disable the shaders that you don't want by selecting each shader and pressing ctrl.

OK, thanks for taking some time out to investigate for me. You may well be right after all, I am seeing the (female) sitting pose, and I am aware that this does take a few seconds to kick in, as it were. It is just the default idle seems to be elusive. Cheers
