Yeah, hopefully they fix it soon. Until they come out with a more stable version, I guess I'm just going to have to use the default manager. I must admit, it's gonna be hard. I've been spoiled by nexus mod manager, and to go back to the days of manual installation and uninstallations, it's gonna be hard, but it must be done.

UPDATE: I believe I have finally solved this problem (A few months later.) I found UFO to be the most likely cause of the problem. After uninstalling UFO (Ultimate follower overhaul), I found that the dialogue began to work again.I have reinstalled UFO, in hopes that it was just a faulty installation.

I've already deactivated UAC, and none of my skyrim files in AppData are read only. I've been modding for years, so I know most of the usual quick fixes. I now believe it to be a problem with Nexus Mod Manager, because it's only when I am using Nexus Mod Manager that my plug-ins deactivate, the plug-in manager in the default launcher works fine. I'm usually pretty good at solving problems like this on my own, but this time I'm at a loss.

My problem is more of an annoyance than anything. Every time I change something, like activate or deactivate a plug-in, or install a new mod, all of my plug-ins deselected themselves and I have to reselect all of them. Never happened before, and I would like to know why it is happening now.

Okay, so I have had a number of glitches, mostly involving dialogue. My first problem, and by far the least problematic, is every now and then the dialogue will go silent for about a second. It's a bit annoying, and I miss a word or two, but I have subtitles on so I hardly even notice it anymore. My second problem was more severe. It started when Lydia began using the "Throw Voice Shout" Dialogue instead of her own. I found out this was a vanilla bug, and I was able to fix it with relative ease. After fixing the Lydia bug however, I found more broken dialogue. Scripted banter had completely ceased. For example, when entering windhelm, instead of the local nords picking on a single dark elf, they all were just standing around looking at each other. I walked around and found the same was true with all scripted dialogue in the city. I reloaded all of my earlier saves, and found similar results. I ended up making a whole new character, (Which seemed to fix the problem.) Which brings us to my current unsolved problem. I'm currently in redwater den, (On the quest for the chalice) And whenever I drink the redwater skooma, I am transported to the cell, and the high elf dealer says her line of dialogue, but than when the vampire goes to reply... nothing! The vampire doesn't reply, and I can't move, all controls are disabled, and I'm forced to reload. The strange thing is, everything worked fine the first time, but than I died and haven't been able to get it to work since, (even if I reload earlier saves and start the quest over). I tried the alternative (Smashing my way through) but I found that banter dialogue is broken. A character will say his lines, but when the other character is scripted to reply, they don't. Combat lines still work, but all banter seems to be broken. I don't know if this is just redwater grotto that's broken, but I really don't want to have to start another new character. Help?

I'll agree that the kill move system needs work, but I wouldn't remove them entirely. As for removing the leveling system? The problem with just choosing how your character plays from the start is that it's really easy to pick wrong. You could get half way through the game and realize you completely hate how your character functions. Skyrim let you improve by using your skills, and by picking a guardian stone you got to choose a sort of base outline of what character you wanted, without setting anything in stone. By making you choose base perks and attributes, you give a lot of room for error, it is possible to mess your character up from the beginning. Skyrim's leveling system is more natural, you don't have to think about it, you just make your character and go. Removing a leveling system all together would make the game boring... There would be no real advancement, no challenge, it would be like stepping into the game at max level. As for nobody liking the leveling system, that's not true at all, Skyrim's leveling system is actually one of it's highest regarded features! Critics, reviewers, and players have been raving about skyrim's innovative leveling system since it's release, and I am inclined to agree with them. If you don't like the leveling system, it's easy to find a mod to change it to your liking, that's the beauty of a modable game, but for a vanilla leveling system, I don't think you will get much better than Skyrims.

Skyrim definitely did something right, but they changed a lot from oblivion to do so. It could be argued that all bethesda would have to do for TES VI to be a success would be to remake skyrim with a new story line and better graphics, but as we all know, that's not how the elder scrolls work. So basically, what I want to ask is this, what should be changed in Tes VI, and what should be kept? Here is what I think Keep: Leveling System: Skyrim's leveling system is probably one of the best (If not the best) leveling system out there. It's dynamic, adaptive, and easy to use. It adapts to your play style, whether you want to be an axe wielding mage, or a fire-ball slinging thief, all you had to do was play that way, and that is how your character would level up. Modability: This one is a given, from morrowind to Skyrim, mods have helped create a dedicated sub community, and gave each game thousands of hours of extra playable content. Kill Moves: Specifically for stealth characters. In earlier tes games, being a stealth character was sort of... static. Unless you were using a bow, you would just be wacking people with a dagger which, let's be honest, looked tacky. Skyrim's kill animations allow for a more "Assassination" type feel, where you literally slit the throat of your enemies. Werewolves Add: Romance System: Skyrim added marriage, Hearthfire added adoption, but there really isn't much in the way of romance in Tamriel, which is really sad. Sure there are plenty of romance mods out there, but they don't come close to what an official release would add. The elder scroll's number one competitor right now is probably dragon age, (remember when it used to be fable? Moment of silence) has great romance options, and that's one of the things that make it so popular. More Dialogue Options: I found Dialogue in Skyrim was extremely limited, now I understand that it's a huge game, with thousands of lines of dialogue already, but I feel that being given only one or two options to choose from when replying to a character greatly detracts from a game with so many different character types. More Appearance Options: The only thing that ESO did better than Skyrim was its character creation, because there was more too it. I was really disappointed in Skyrim's character creation options, thankfully it was easy to customize my character with mods, but still.. More Spells: I felt the spell selection in Skyrim was sort of limited compared to it's predecessors, it seems with each elder scrolls game there are less and less spells to choose from. Better Animations: Skyrim broke new ground with a lot of it's new animations, such as being able to dual wield, and kill moves, but I feel that the aesthetics of it all needs improvement. How about you fine folks of the nexus? What would you like to see kept, tossed, or added/improved in the next elder scrolls game?

Have you ever decided to play an entire game series from start to finish all at once. I'm doing that with the elderscrolls. I have already downloaded Arena, next I'm gonna download Daggerfall. (Both available for free on Bethesda's website) after that I am gonna continue on to the big three Morrowind, Obivion, and Skyrim, (as well as the side games Battlespire and Redguard.) So have you ever done this with Zelda, or Resident Evil, or some video game series that you enjoyed?

The Elder scrolls I: Arena troubles...

I figured it out on my own. Using hex editor I changed a spell I made to a spell of cure disease by: 1) Loading an earlier game and made a cure disease spell to get the code 2) Editing spells.xx (Where XX is the slot of the saved game) 3) Changing the code of a spell I had already made prior to my problem to one of cure disease The code is: 00-00 99 00-06 99 10-08 99 20-09 03 20-10 FF 20-10 FF 30-03 3C (And the rest is just the spell name) so in 16 ANSI hex it shoud look like ™.....™ ........™ ..........ÿÿ ..<.spell name Don't know how helpful this will be for non-mage characters, (Or mage characters with no homemade spells) but I figured I would update just in case. -
Just need to be rid of a disease when I am too far away from any towns to fast travel, and have no potions or spells to save the day. I've been able to fix every single problem I've ever had with Skyrim, Oblivion, Morrowind, and Fallout, but this one, seemingly mundane problem has me stuck... Help?? Tools at Disposal: Level 12 Breton Battlemage Have a HEX Editor (To Edit save games)

Sounds like either an improper installation or a fatal conflict with your computer. Try reinstalling it, if that doesn't work, try downloading and using OBSE to launch instead of the Vanilla launcher, that may or may not fix the problem.

Sorry for the delay! Had some personal matters get in the way! If you are interested in the study group I will be online at http://skyrimmods.chatango.com/ at 4:30 Newfoundland time, which is about 12:00 Pacific time and about 4:00 Eastern time, if i know my time zones, which i don't XD but that sounds right. If your in Europe Australia Asia or Africa than you're going to have to do the calculation yourself I'm not about to go through all the world time zones!

Pretty elaborate stories shook far and here I thought i would be the only one with a wild and detailed backstory. XD And leave it to Luna3334 to make a character in skyrim who doesn't fight anybody XP

Here is the thing, everytime there is a Problem or reoccurring CTDs people are often forced to go back through all there mods they have installed to try to discover the conflict! So why not make a user made index, that way if you find a fatal problem or conflict than it will be relatively easier to find for others. For example: OLD VERSIONS - Vanilla Mannequin Script Fix Caused CTD's when entering certain cells, although the author has since fixed it, so if your wondering why you crash when you enter the dark brotherhood and you have an old version of this mod you can upgrade. Katixas Ciderhouse Restaurant + Bathing Beauties or Beefcake - Luxury Suite This one is listed on BBLS's page so I decided to use it as an example. This is NOT a place to bash or badmouth other people's mods, but rather to let others know if you experience a conflict or an error with a mod. Not all people will have the same problems, but there are most likely others who will.
