  1. Thank you. That definitely seems like it would cover a lot of the late game points. Though I have to wonder why the guy says "try not to die". Do the people testing just not turn on god mode or might it break something for some of them? I've installed skyrim 4 times over and on each ran 240+ plugins 200+ mods. I have finally found the stable build (30fps Capped, HW Ambient Occlusion, HD textures, etc..) I run all the so called "script heavy" mods and such so let me give you the run down on what you need to know: Incompatibilities: There is no cure to fix any specific load order. Use the mod organizer, TES5Edit, WryeBash. Running a big load order means you are basically a modder yourself and nows the time to learn how this engine works. Most people running large load orders need to make their own compatibility patches at some point. Learn how to clean mods, set aside a day to get a basic run-down of these tools and you won't need to look back. Keep track of EVERYTHING they may modify and ALWAYS read the hell out of the Compatibility section of their page on the nexus (If they have one). Don't install old mods without checking the posts and see if users are complaining. For a big list you have to sacrifice the "unclean" mods that will break compatibility with like 100+ things. Install the most lightweight overhauls you can do with like EFF follower mod, iNeed, and basically all of Chesko's mods. Don't install the footprint mod if you have over 200. A 155+ modlist will work with footprints just fine but I've realized that engine just gets taxed with so many simultaneous Update() being called. sgman1: "Tes5edit seems a bit much, don't you think? I am familiar with wryebash and there was another mod file/load order organizer I used for Oblivion. But Tes5edit seems a bit like something the modder (if they are still active) would do as a part of bug fixing." Install ENB from enbdev. If you use Nvidia look up NVIDIA set up for skyrim and see if everything is right. I'm sure there is an AMD version too. sgman1: "Are you sure about this? My computer is a multimedia tier laptop of 2010. Skyrim was released in 2011 and worked great for when it was released but ENB slowed things to a crawl for me, even with Oblivion."
  2. As an intro, I used to love modding the heck out of my copies of oblivion and skyrim when it came out. But after a while I lacked the time and it got boring since it felt like more than playing, I was acting as a one man QA/bug testing team. I mean sure the readmes tell you all about which bugs you can encounter but when you add like a trillion mods to your copy, there's bound to be something that crops, possibly in the later game which ruins everything. But now since it's been forever since Skyrim's release, I was assuming that there must be a "to die for" mod out there so I am gonna try applying mods again. What I wanted to know was what all I could do to make the process of applying however many (probably large) number of mods more efficient/streamlined. Obviously the mods I want, I am going to have to look for them myself but the part afterwards. Is there anyway to complete the mod installation process faster, figure out bugs/stability more easily or check if it's functioning without having to go like halfway through the game for an endgame mod? Considering there are going to be quite a few, of course.
  3. Any mods out there that allow for better attack telegraphing? I can't seem to block anything that isn't two handed. It'd be understandable with daggers but even one handed swords are impossible to block.
  4. Any mod that makes the combat completely (or 95%) like Dark Souls? I've seen mods that allow you to have some basics like from DS that weren't present in Skyrim, like dodging. But currently it feels insufficient and still doesn't seem to scratch the surface of what made DS good. I realize a lot of what I am about to state may not be possible given that the engine for Skyrim was not made with it in mind but please, PLEASE, PLEASE get as much of it as you can. I love Skyrim for it's lore and world but I simply want to add more spice to the combat. And when I say more, I mean MUCH MORE. DS's combat is just so much more fun! So here goes (INCOMING WALL OF TEXT): Things like super accurate hitboxes, accurate animations that flow seamlessly and realistically and that too not from just an aesthetic perspective but also gameplay as in you can actually look at an enemy and predict when they are attacking and properly block/dodge and it's not like a bandit with a dagger is all of a sudden just able to relentlessly slash at you with you blocking only after takign a good 3-4 hits. Same with bears and other similar enemies able to barrage you nonsensically, with regards to that matter. The hitboxes and animations should also give a better indication of exactly when I will actually get hit instead of getting hit at a different time than according to the enemies attack. Blocking and stamina should work like they do in DS, accurate damage; for example, at high levels, fighting big monsters like trolls and bears is still difficult but their attacks don't nearly take out as much from you and do not end up in insta kill if they hit you directly. But for huge enemies like mammoths, giants and dragons the only way to avoid damage is to dodge instead of blocking even if they would not kill you in one hit. Think ceaseless discharge or the undead dragon from DS, seeing as a puny man shouldn't be able to block a crushing stomp from what may for all intents and purposes may as well be a large pillar falling over him. For those that don't know about blocking and stamina in DS but still want to help out, blocking basically depletes stamina only (unless its a puny cookie cutter shield in which case it doesn't provide complete physical protection) and the amount depends on how hard that enemies attack hits and how large, strong and/or sturdy your shield is. There are some exceptions, for example no shield completely mitigates non-physical damage types even if said magic blast or fireball was perfectly blocked. Stamina regenerates nearly instantly but nearly every combat action dealt against you or the enemy takes a large amount of stamina. For example, you can only perform 2-3 hits at best with most larger weapons (4-5 with small swords, 7+ with only small weapons like daggers) and only block ~7 hits from even most basic enemies even with the strongest shields. Also, there is a noticeable lag in regeneration if you are highly encumbered and/or wear the strongest and heaviest armors which also adds a malus to stamina regeneration. If it is also possible, do you think dodging could be changed from a tiny sidestep/backstep to a rollout/cartwhell/flip at lower encumberance levels that covers more distance, like in DS? Finally, kill moves should be similar to backstabs, parries and ripostes for both you and other humanoid enemies and should work regardless of damage done. For example, kill moves shouldn't be active but if you manage to get someone from behind (or they you) even outside of sneak mode, it should be an insta kill (preferably with the kill move animation). Also if you or someone else successfully manages to bash and stagger you or the other way around, the stagger window should also allow for kill move activation. Only the strongest of the strong should be able to survive after such a blow or kill moves from creatures such as dragons (if there is some way or some condition that allows kill moves to not be insta kill under certain circumstances). I think this would make the combat much more intense and breathtaking. You would definitely be compelled to not be some sort of rambo/Duke Nukem after going on a crazy training montage (READ: power levelling) and actually play smart like trying to not take on multiple enemies at once and actually finding strategically more defensible positions against certain enemies and be more considerate towards the way you enact combat and strategies you take. If nothing else, it wouldn't feel cheap dying at the hands of some random dude who just popped out of nowhere and killed you with a wooden stick just because they have a high skill in one handed and a perk that increases their damage to 9001%. If you would, please allow me to veer off on a bit of a tangent here. Do any of you think it might be possible to make kill moves INTERACTIVE? I really could not ever fathom how slow or stupid everyone is and get's killed by the warhammer kill move. It's so damn slow. Even the slowest dudes should be at least able to get out of the way with only a broken arm. I mean if you're that slow, obviously, you shouldn't be out looting, pillaging or hunting dragons. Is there not someway to add a timed dodge/counterattack during every kill move that allows one to save their half dead ass if the dodge key or attack key is pressed at the proper time? It would add another dimension to that flashy kill moves other than "Oh gee lookee, x can do super high damage and therefore he just cuts everyone down quickly and stylishly without having to worry about them being shived by their adversaries concealed pingas that they don't notice while they wind their up their super slow ass sledgehammer." Sorry if bored somebody but I really hope some of you take out the time read through carefully and give me a serious and well though out and informative answer.
  5. Specs: http://www.asus.com/Notebooks_Ultrabooks/N71Jq/#specifications 4 GB RAM version. Home basic. And in order of the questions that you asked: Latest. No. Yes, yes, yes. Used both modified (the ones that were working previously) and default .ini files. I've set driver's to allow applications to handle all the specifics. No mouse lag elsewhere. Not sure about the processes, got an update recently from Microsoft and now I see one named dllhost.exe described as COM Surrogate, though, if it was malware I would think things would be much slower. Rest are more or less same as before and didn't impact performance much (I could even play while having firefox open fairly comfortably). AND I defragged like just today, CCleaner usually seems to handle junk upon startup. As for mods, well funny thing is that even with lots of graphics and texture mods, I was playing at fairly low FPS once but it sure wasn't as laggy or inconsistent in FPS as it is now. You think there might be a hidden folder somewhere with app data or something that might be keeping bad settings or a corrupted file from a previous install or the like?
  6. So recently I decided to reinstall Skyrim. Only problem is, I'm having severe lag while playing it. I also installed other Beth games this month with the same/similar engine. Oblivion was more or less working okay and New Vegas seemed to work damn well near 60 FPS ... well at least until two days ago (right when I decided to reinstall Skyrim). But I am just assuming that it was save game bloat since it worked okay most of the time except after playing a while and save files seemed to be fairly large (~5 MB). I cleaned up all files that were related to Skyrim and did a fresh install with a new savegame. Hell, I even lowered most of the intense settings like shadows, textures and object details to the lowest and it still lagged like all hell. I even tried to go up from not updated to updated to see if that was what could be the cause, but no change... Anyone know what could be causing this?
  7. Nvm the last comment. I understand how to obtain the masterlist.txt. Now how would I go about using it since whenever BOSS tries to update it usually tries to go online and there is no .exe file for update like in Anti-virus software. Do I just find its directory and replce the masterlist.txt in the BOSS directory?
  8. @Luthais, Is that the exact word search I should perform? Because I copy pasted exactly what is IN the quotes and did that but no results came up. Sorry for being so lazy, it just happens to be 1 AM here at the time of this post, so I sort of... well you get the idea.
  9. Umm... are you sure about that? The reason I made this post in the first place was that the upload date on those downloads seem to be quite a while ago. No offense, but I don't think it would have stayed up to date after all this time what with release of Dragonborn and mods related to it and others being updated.
  10. Is there some way to update BOSS for Skyrim/Oblivion/etc., manually? As in like you install the software but don't have an internet connection to update so you grab the necessary files from wherever, copy to USB drive and update as per your convenience? Like with some Anti-Virus softwares.
  11. Nope. They were indeed trying to shout and not able to instead of being stunned.
  12. Bethesda used to always just have all the save files tucked under one saves folder in my documents with all the config files for Morrowind and Oblivion. They didn't really make an effort to change some of the basic things in Skyrim. Structure is mostly the same. You could have just you know made a few dozen files and checked to see where they would have gone. I mean I'm just saying, no offense meant. But as you can infer from my explanation you clearly CAN do this by yourself. And as for the bandwidth thing, the ludicrousness of the statement should have made obvious my tone. ;) But if you want me to play along and attack: THEN WHAT WILL HAPPEN WHEN INTERNET RUNS OUT SPACE!? 1.7 KB will be very precious then! THEN WHO WAS GOING TO BE PHONE!?
  13. Yes. But seriously dude, check out it yourself. It isn't that hard. You didn't have to waste your bandwidth for it. Now that your here though, it indeed does save all files together. There are no different folders for different characters.
  14. So I don't understand what's going on when I'm barraging them with a constant lightning stream and they aren't able to shout at all the whole time?
  15. Actually, game mechanics wise, the dragons do indeed use magicka for their shouts. Just try this trick: get the master destruction lightning spell, get destruction gear that reduces cost of destruction spells to 0 (or use god mode;tgm), find a strong dragon (ancient/master/whatever), keep blasting him with that spell indefinitely. You'll observe that if you managed to pin the dragon with the spell the whole time the dragon won't be able to use a single shout. Especially when it's on the ground trying to breath out fire/frost at you constantly, it will open it's mouth several times but nothing will come out. Lore wise though, I'd think it separate from the magicka reserve and for the player it is also separate in game.
  16. Well... I'd like to believe from what lore says that a dragon/dragonborn/thu'um master is more or less omnipotent compared to everything that resides on Nirn/Mundus/Whatever save for most other users of the thu'um where it comes down to whoever shouts the hardest/loudest wins. I mean the Greybeards point out that a practiced thu'um user could kill non-thu'um users with just a whisper. The stones on the way to High Hrothgar say some crazy stuff like the thu'um blot out the sky blah, blah, blah and god knows what else. Finally, the dragonborn's song mentions something about his power rivaling the sun itself. Maybe all that is true and the dragonborn can only be bested by another god/god-like being. Maybe it is just an exaggeration and he really couldn't do much harm to anything at the level of the gods/daedric princes. Another thing to consider is that, and I say it now that I am not sure of this but, the gods and daedra are not only omnipotent but omniscient as well as immortal, and if you count the fact that they are simply banished back to their realms to continue their dirty work when defeated, also invincible, in a manner of speaking.
  17. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/26393 The author seems to mention things that seem to meet the requirements you want to be fulfilled. Why don't you try and check the most endorsed mods in a given category next time before immediately coming here and complaining about a lack of x mod the way you want?
  18. When the bandits kill you, does a killmove animation take place where they stab/slash/smash/whatever you? I'm no expert but I think that's a legit kill. It happens at several points in the game that you hit a new level threshold and then all of a sudden these new bandit types pop out of nowhere that can get into a killmove animation just by getting close and staring at you. You'll just have to try your luck and avoid any new types of named NPCs you find all of sudden.
  19. Any mods that someone can suggest that make two handed weapons worthwhile for usage and/or unarmed as well? My beef with two handed is that it is slow as hell and you'll take like 5 hits before landing one of your own which makes it all the more worse when you realize that you aren't doing as much heavy damage as you'd hoped with a two handed weapon. It's even worse when you have a mod like deadly combat which makes you stagger upon every hit meaning you fight back very little. Unarmed could use a bit more speed too. I didn't realize trained fighters needed that much wind up to hit hard. Also anything to make unarmed player character hit harder as they get stronger? And then something for defense since unarmed dudes can't block in vanilla and even if they could, blocking a sword with one's arms would be completely unrealistic. Finally, anything to slow down animations (just a teeny tiny bit) for one handed weapons since timed blocking features from mods are completely useless against a guy using a dagger (at least for me). Either that and/or something to allow me to do an attack cancel either with a block or, if it has been implemented by a mod, a dodge to perform feints and dance around the enemy a bit so that I can find the perfect opportunity to strike them down.
  20. Okay, I understand. Morals are subjective. Natural evils, blah, blah. Great. Now let me put it this way; we both would be mortals in the TES universe and are even in the real world due to our limited life span. Say we were there and I'm not religious. Would what they want concern me or what I want concern me? Why should I just let some demon god wipe his ass from paper made of me and my buds because he is compelled to? 'Kay bud. Before we move on you have definitely got to clear somethings up first. Where exactly was it said that he clears life so life may begin anew? Daedra represent change and Dagon is the lord of natural large scale destruction. Change can be brought about by destruction but that doesn't necessarily mean that once everything has been said and done there will be new life or, for that matter, that he will even allow it. How did Lorkhan kill more people and Akatosh kill more people by controlling their spheres? You really need to tell me. As I said, my suffering wouldn't be less if I lost my home in a tornado despite the fact that it's a natural event. The difference between this and the Daedra is that there is somewhere to point a finger and a sapient mind, no matter how bound against it's will, was behind such an event. That's one problem. The Et'ada are bound to their spheres yet we know that there is no one absolute way in which a sapient mind is supposed to think. Why can't Dagon occasionally rain hell fire on a bandit camp? Why can't Boethiah or Mephala be concerned with a collection of insidious individuals rather than one such individual amongst dozens with less malevolent intent? Finally, you say what are the Daedra in the absolute sense. The biggest problem is THERE IS NONE BECAUSE OF ALL THE MORAL SUBJECTIVITY concerning sapient minds whether they hold the views of gods or mortals. Therefore, you say that they are forces of nature. Yet without taking morals into consideration, what would concern mortals is mortals alone and their survival to which the Daedra are in general a detriment which is why they are viewed as evil. Maybe, if they laid off every once in a while and took a break for a century or two, I'd be more inclined towards your viewpoint. You know it's funny how you compare us and ants to Daedra and mortals and yet there is the clear distinction that the, on the contrary, Et'ada do treat mortals with more significance than that considering how they would like mortals to worship them and several would punish with extreme prejudice any who would so much as speak inappropriately about them. I've killed ants just like in your example but I've never had the honor of being worshiped by them in return for watching out for them or smashed one just because it's antennae looked suggestive to me. Some blades can, but let's not get derailed by magical artifacts, those things are all kinds of crazy. Here's the thing about the Daedra (And Aedra) they don't really have the ability to choose. Or rather, they can not choose to do anything that goes outside the bounds of their spheres. An example was raised earlier in the thread that spawned this one, about the quest for Mehrunes razor in Skyrim. It was said, that Mehrunes chose to kill you if you disobeyed him, and impied that this meant Dagon could choose not to kill you if he wanted to. The flaw in this argument is that if you do exactly as he says, to the letter, he still sends a couple of angry Dremora your way. No matter what you do, you'll have to fight for your life, for Dagon destroys. So while Dagon can choose what to do, he can not choose not to destroy you (or try to anyway), wether it is to punish you or to test you, the result is the same, something gets destroyed. And that is the essence of my argument, choice is not the same as free reign to do anything. The Daedra have choices but limited options of which to choose from. That's why I don't consider Dagon to be "Evil", because he doesn't have the ability to do anything other than what his sphere encompasses. I'm not saying what he does is a good thing (Allthough it can be), I'm saying that he is no more evil than an earthquake, neither of them can choose to do anything else. I may not be able to argue my point as well as I would like (English is not my native language, it's a poor excuse but there you have it.) but I stand by it. You'd think Dagon would have some destruction and call it a day. But NOOOO. Having his champion kill a poor f*** and some others along the way just wasn't enough. He had to try and kill him too or watch his Dremora be sliced to ribbons just for the hell of it.
  21. Think you could name a few of them and also the difficulty level you play on? I've always had balancing issues where I'd just whack an enemy dead or the other way around in just one hit. No actual feeling of challenge or an actual back and forth tug of war. Skill uncapper. Just search uncapper. Skills progress to 300 (default settings). You could probably even get to level 9001 if you went nuts and made the skill caps like 10000. I'm not sure if those variables can be handled though. Oh and more info about this new weapon and super hard dude p10x.
