  1. As far as racism goes, you can't point the finger at the Nord thugs while ignoring everyone else. Like the Dunmer gal the thugs are harassing when you arrive at Windhelm, who later has some nasty things to say about Argonians being lazy. Or the Argonian on the docks who told my Dunmer character that "my kind" are not welcome there. Or Viola, who is an Imperial, not a Nord, but has just as much anti-Dunmer feeling as any Stormcloak. Or the Dunmer who wrote Dunmer of Skyrim, a screed promoting the racial superiority of the Dark Elves.

As for the Khajiit, we know that the caravans are denied access to the cities -- all cities, not just Windhelm -- but we don't know that this prohibition applies to non-caravan Khajiit. There seem to be few around who aren't part of some bandit group, aside from our own Khajiit characters, so we don't have a fair test. J'zhargo must have passed through Winterhold, though, to get to the College.

The caravan ban seems more pragmatic than racist. One of the caravan leaders spends a lot of time complaining that the Nords think they are all thieves and skooma dealers, then turns around and reveals that she is in Skyrim because her group got into trouble with the law in several other provinces and they were on the run until Ri'saad took them in. In point of fact, the caravans pretty much ARE all thieves and skooma dealers, and all of them ultimately work for ringleader Ri'saad, with his TG connections. Should the jarls really want Khajiit like these opening up shops inside of their towns? Should the jarls be more concerned with not appearing racist than with the actual welfare of their people? Branding a jarl racist for keeping out the caravans is like branding a mayor anti-Italian for keeping out the mafia.

Dunmer were enslaved by the Argonians through trade. And they still are.

Isn't it the other way around? I thought the Argonians has been enslaved by the Dunmer.

It was both ways. Morrowind and The Black Marsh were always fighting each other. Most recent Black Marsh invaded the remains of Morrowind after the eruption of Vvardenfell. Maybe that is why Dunmers are pi$$ed at Argonians.

  2. Dragons start spawning after you kill the first one near Whiterun. Althou there is a mod wich spawns them from the start of the game provided you have alternate starts or you just don't want to do the MQ line.
  3. The Imperial-controlled holds will not need to be conquered if taken from the Imperials during Season Unending. So if you traded The Reach for The Rift and plan to join the Stormcloacks, you'll have to re-conquer the Rift as for the Reach remains under stormcloack control. Keepeng it short, YES the trades from Season Unending have consequences even if only easthetics, meaning that the fact that it will be a diferent yarl and have to conquer a diferent area if joining the civil war. Also you will be able to purchase proprety without doing the extra quests.

Edit: If you play a lawfull character it will be frustrating beacause Riften will have Maven Blackbriar as jarl and Markart will have a Silver-Blood.

  4. Pros for TG: Fences, can make lots of money, tons of radiant quests, Master's Armor, Prowlers Profit.

Cons for TG: They're a little on the genocide side, Vex is a b$%&h.

Pros for DB: Ancient Shrowded Armor, Cicero's Gloves and Boots, lot of radian quests aswell.

Cons for DB: It's hard not to kill Astrid after the first few missions, Festus dies, you can't initiate the purification as Listner.

  5. I would say food chains. It's all abbout the enviroment who creates diferent ecosistems wich are interlinked rather than piramidic. A human can be strong or smart enough to kill an elefant/lion/tiger/shark an also weak enough to die from an insect bite.

To the topic: I think the story is much simpler than it looks. If your character were able to catch a dragon why couldn't someone else? As for holding grudge against the bards, maybe just these bards (meaning this generation) consider Olaf a false king just to suck money from the jarl for a pointless festival.

  6. "people who dislike Ulfric have a lot of emotional sentences but few logical reasons"

Speak for yourself and try not insulting to many people with your posts. I don't care much for Ulfric, and i consider myself a logical person as i do accept the things that have a solid background. As for emotional sentences weren't you the one complaning about Brynjolf chasing you arround to join the Thieves Guild? (a thing that would be VERY beneficial for a character, seeing how "cruel" Skyrim is)

You don't have any background if you suppport Ulfric by saying "People who dislike Ulfric are...", and to go as far as calling a real person ilogical base on an characterization of a fictional character wont win you a debate, you'll just force people to back out of it.

  7. with my most advanced char i have:

only the dragon and daedric full armor sets (that's all i cared abbout since i have the Prowler Profit) and all daedric weapons (using 2 doubleenchanted daedric daggers, self forged with shock and drain health)

all daedric artefacts (yeah i have been nasty :))- opted for Saviour's Hide.

100 skill level in Speech, One Handed, Sneak, Lockpicking, Light Armor, Smithing, Enchanting (currently at lvl 72)

finished Thieves Guild questline, Dark Brotherhood questline, Companions questline, Colege of Winterhold questline and Main Quest.(this with the lvl 72 Khajiit merchant-thieve)

another 4 characters for different RP experience

  8. Yep. i've killed people for much less than that in Skyrim, usin everything from poisons, shouts, magick....and noone made me high king or anything. can't even chalange Ulfric to a fight :|.

Oh... and landy8, you surely mistake thieves for wise man. (if wise man were to prosper by bad rules there wont be anyone left to change the rules)

  9. Thanx SubjectProphet.

As Ulfric was betrayed by Torygg he had every right to chalange him and eventualy kill him in fair battle, but the fact that Torigg IS in Sovngarde sets the question if Ulfric proceded honorably in killing him. I don't know if using the thu'um is considered honorable in Nord traditions even if used to disarm or mop the floor with Torigg seen how a Fus Ro Dah works. Maybe just Fus or Fus Ro because we don't know if Ulfric knows all 3 words.

  10. I agree with the fact that calling someone "racist" in Skyrim is a little off-hand since almost all of Tamriel is "racial aware". Every bunch has bad apples, either in charge or as commoners. When i started playing as Khajiit or aragonian, the fact that the Captain was calling me to the block by "the cat" or "the lizard" bodered me since the option of escaping with the stormcloacks just so i get to kill her. Playing a Dunmer, no problem...set Ulfric as unessential then assassinate him (same for those 2 Nords when you first enter Windhelm). Point is if Skyrim (in fact Tamriel) is that harsh of a place were discrimination is accepted means that as Khajiit you'll have to kill everyone, as Argonian or Dumner kill Ulfric, as Nord kill Tulius, as Imperial kill Ulfric again, so on and so on but that is not the case in most of the times. It will be best to not talk abbout "racism" because there are tons of flawes and also good points to every leader that we can have a normal debate instead of 6 pages of "racism".

Sorry for the spelling, english is not my first language but i try my best. (corrections are welcomed)

  11. note that Hammerfell fought the Aldmeri Dominion and the Thalmor (althou the war was lost before The Second Treaty of Stros M'Kai is signed) while Ulfric is fighting the Empire. Personaly all stormcloaks i've encountered were talking of killing imperials not high elves or dominion soldiers, wich goes the same for the imperial soldiers.

4E 175 — Hammerfell leaves the Empire after rejecting the White-Gold Concordat.

Titus II renounces Hammerfell as a province of the Empire to preserve the treaty after the Redguards oppose ceding their lands. The Redguards see this as a betrayal, and a lasting bitterness between Hammerfell and the Empire is sown to the delight of the Thalmor. Hammerfell continues to war with the Aldmeri Dominion for the next five years.

4E 176 — Ulfric Stormcloak retakes The Reach instigating the Markarth Incident.

The Empire and the son of the deposed Jarl promised Ulfric Stormcloak free worship of Talos in exchange for retaking The Reach. Ulfric forms a Nord militia and crushes the Reachmen at Markarth with the aid of the Thu'um. The survivors flee into the wilds forming a group called the Forsworn. Ulfric is arrested when the Thalmor discover the open worship of Talos. Ulfric and his men are eventually released, but the incident kindles what will become the Stormcloak Rebellion.

So 1 year after Hammerfell leaves the empire continuing the war with the Dominion, Ulfric was working FOR the Empire reclaiming the Reach. That puts the question "Is Ulfric realy fighting the Aldmeri Dominion?" if yes he should have started in 4E 171 (about 5 years earlier) when The Great War started. From my point of view he's about 5 years late to prove himself. You can't win a contest if you don't part-take in it.

  12.

And this is why I choose to stay out of these debates...the hard factualist in me recognizes this...though I disagree defeating the Empire and kicking the Thalmor out is Ulfric's only focus....but none of this makes Ulfric any less of a pr*ck than he is, it's mentalities like Ulfric's that are responsible for the ridiculous generational feuds, etc... that plague our species.

And nobody in either of these threads has pointed out that the genius that is Ulfric Stormcloak is playing right into the Thalmor's hands. If anyone actually read the dossier in the game, they'd be aware of this. The Thalmor actually let him escape because he was so predictable.

So I guess Ulfric is on Alduin's side as well? Is he on the side of the Tsaesci or the Ka Po' Tun?

Just because Ulfric is being a benefit to the Dominion doesn't make his war a bad thing. Any other enemy to the Empire causing issues for the Empire would be a benefit to the Dominion.

And no, its doubtful the Thalmor thought Ulfric predictable. What most likely happened is that in the middle of torturing him (or simply watching rot away in his cage, Ulfric did what any Nord would have done and vowed vengeance against the Empire that fed him to the Thalmor and basically used him for his prowess. And considering his role in Markarth they likely knew he could actually make due on that vow, at least enough to cause a problem for the Empire.

You really would have to be a blind Imperial fanatic to believe that being a benefit to the Dominion makes the Stormcloak's cause any less legitimate, however. The (False) Empire is dying and quite frankly it doesn't deserve to live anymore. The Empire all the Empire supporters wants to survive already crashed and burned 200 years ago. What we have now is a cannibal Empire wearing the old Empire for a hat. Its leadership is corrupt, its Emperor inept (and on his way to his grave) and whatever bastard children (if any) he may have are unlikely to salvage what they inherit.

It would be far better to see the Empire fall so that a new one could rise. It doesn't have to be a Stormcloak-ian Empire. Nor does it have to be a Dominion Empire. It doesn't even need to be an Empire, it could be something completely different. At any rate, the Dominion does have to be put down (and funnily enough the Empire's the only force on Tamriel that could be mustered when the time comes that couldn't do it) and at this time Ulfric is the only one actively pushing for that to happen in the here and now, which is the right thing to do. (as playing the waiting game with the Dominion is, in actuality, playing into their hands. And the Empire is doing just that)

If your character doesn't get involved in the rebelion, neither side will win. As for part-taking in the civil war is a question of opinion. To go as far as calling someone "blind Imperial fanatic" just for having a different view of tha war goes a little to far.

  13. Imperials ARE Nords lorewise, they may have become different in culture and the land has shaped their bodies different, but in the end they're both the same race (The Imperial race didn't even exist before Oblivion),

Just a minor point, Imperials were introduced as a playable race in Morrowind.

Morrowind and Oblivion (TES III and TES IV) took place at the same time only in different areas of Tamriel.

  14. gg K. Hope to see you modding soon, and have a great vacation. We can certanly learn fromn 8 yo K abbout what gamming is all about: having fun regardless of the content or gaming rig. Well, send her my best wishes and continue to have fun.
  15. I don't think you can play Skyrim as one or the other, it literally won't let you. I role-play as much as I can and my personality tends to the saint side; I don't steal from, pickpocket, trespass upon, or assault/murder "citizens", although the Jarls pay me to do just that to "others". I rob graves, corpses, and burial urns, slaughter wild beasts to fill soul gems, and lie for my own benefit. I murdered a guy to get out of prison, have fist-fights with women, hang out in bars, and I lollygag all the time. Even though I couldn't kill the guy to get Mehrunes Razor, I'm contemplating killing an old woman because a small child thinks she's "mean". I'll drink on a bet and kill peaceful giants whom I know are innocent. I'll run from a fight and leave my follower in a lurch, pluck the wings off butterflies, and, worst of all, I will not play tag with children.

So, while I try to be good, I just can't seem to do it. I can't be all bad, either. Whether by choice or destiny, I'm in-between.

May youre feet guide you to neutralness.(Wich is the most profitable "-ness" of all).

  16. Ulfric is a racist peice of crap. He would let anyone who is not a Nord suffer and die, and laugh about it afterwards. He is not fit to be a king, or even a jarl

The Empire may not be perfect, but it is not led by a xenophobic a**hole, at least.

No, they just forcefully impart their will by killing anyone who worships Talos - in their OWN homeland.

All Ulfric did was off the royal sympathizer who kept allowing the indiscriminate killing of his own people when he killed the king.

He may not be perfect either, but at least he doesn't persecute those based on their religious preferences......

...by starting a civil war wich will kill none i guess...or maybe hundreds.

  17. The use of complicated wording as an overall literary technique needs to encompass graphic and individual comprehension to allow the reader to become acquainted with the unique terminological aspects employed by the author whilst not detracting from the application of the specific innuendos influencing the particular methods involved which reflect the tone of the major works in question, thereby altering the quality of the outcome.
  18. If you invest in the weightless perk of heavy armor branch, suddenly sneaking in heavy armor is better than sneaking in light armor. Wich is stupid because at high levels light armor is pointless even for thieve/assassin characters.

Think this scenario: You are a two-handed warrior with tons of health wearing heavy armor and packed with potions. After about 20-25 sessions of clubing (meaning getting clubed by a giant not drinking in all taverns from 3 cities while listening to "Rengar the Red"), you achive 100 skill points in heavy armor giving you the posibility for weightless armor. Unequip the giant swor/hammer/axe and you are a better thief than most thieves guild members. After sneaking arround a bit and investing minimum to no perks in sneak you can be considered a propper thief even by player's standards not only NPC's standards. So what is the point of Light Armor other than common sense of the players to wear it if they are the sneaky type an in some cases looks? (because enchantments that favorize stealth can be applied to heavy armor aswell, by yourself with greater effect than the crap you find laying arround)

"Thieves Guild Master Armor" sounds good for sneaky types?Yes, until about lvl 30-ish, after that with good enchanting skills a dwarven stove works just as well.

BTW. I have a level 54 Warrior (among other chars). Heavy Armor, sword and shield type, with Enchanting and Smithing and can make IRON armor way better than that Brotherhood crap they give you. (and they'r an order of assassins, would have thought they favor stealth ans such)

  19. Why would skooma dealers offer potions to addicts? The point is to get them addicted to buy more skooma. If they were handing out potions there wont be any "dealing" because they would sell just the first batch, afterwich they could join the knitting team as a "socially responsible good activity". There is NO "good" crime. Every crime is labeled by society as "evil".A murder is still a murder regardless of who you kill. The fact alone that you end a life is goodenough reason for society to pin you as "evil".As for thievery, stealing is stealing, even if you steal from the rich. (wich is absurd...why would you rob a poor man's house? Steal food, rubish furniture, fish? Is thievery these days that low?). Besides, stealing from rich and giving to the poor it's thrashing of the economy. The rich people will eventualy leave the city in question, leaving a bunch of unemployed poor people. So the choices are obvious, crime OR no crime. As a lawful good or any kind of good character, crime (in whatever form) is never an option, even if assasinating the Thalmor (you wont be any better than they are). In conclusion, leave crime to the proffesionals or people who have inclinations to it and counterbalance that with the will to eradicate criminal activity. This is how things have always worked.
  20. I hear you Rossum. Probably that is why the thieves guild is going down, because they're recruting in broad daylight in the middle of a city all sorts of tourists with no thievering skills or thievering intentions. I didn't think not joining the thieves guild, but walking at me at 1:30 pm in the middle of Riften and asking me to steal something to join them was not just unexpected but plain stupid.

Also i would make a large coastal city with a large harbor and lots of farms on the other end. It would be an intensive merchant's city with tremendous exports and LOTS of specialized shops arround 3 central markets. No stable population just lots of ins, all the houses beeing arroud the farms. The farmers had to bid for renting of the farms for 1,2 or 3 seasons, the hiest bidder having the farm. Same goes for market stalls and shops in the city. With the income i will support a strictly local highly trained guardhouse. It will have a Merchants Guild in wich every merchant has to pay a yearly tax to gain acces to exports, price fluctuation arround Tamriel and ships scheduals. NO fighters guild (or any similar faction) because i don't want hypertestosteronated drunk behavior, NO mages guil(or similar faction) because i don't want to set the town on fire. An unusual Thieves Guild only for the purpose of ecomonic balance and fair competition of prices among the merchants with direct subordonats from the Central Marketing System (basicaly my center of organisation).
