Its up to you if you use NMM you could disable them then update skyrim then renable them to be on the safe side..

I had several bugs with 1.5, most notably bizarre shadow striping (rectangular bands of shadows would appear whenever I was outside, and follow me around if I moved or turned), and the inability to see underwater at all. I have, however, remedied the issue by rolling back to the previous version. To people with Windows 7: for some reason, Windows doesn't save nearly as many versions of prior versions of the individual files as it does images of the folder. Right-click anywhere blank in the folder, go to properties -> previous versions, and find TESV.exe in there, then replace the new one with that. You'll possibly have more choices if you look through previous versions of the whole folder rather than just that file specifically (for example, I only had one previous version if I right-clicked on TESV.exe specifically, from way back in early February, but there were 8 previous versions of the folder, including one from two weeks ago that I used).
Hopefully that helps.
in skyrimprefs change this fShadowBiasScale= to fShadowBiasScale=1.0000 anything lower will cause the striping across the ground and rocks .
SEAN516 the console command in game to turn on wire mesh on/off is twf (Toggles wireframe( maybe this will or wont help ?

what OS do you have the app data folder is always hidden you need to enable hidden folder on your computer ..
im on vista so i would do this to enable hidden folders (appdata folder )
Open My Computer: Click the Windows icon in the lower left hand corner of Vista, scroll up to the right, and click Computer.
Display Old File Menu: With the Computer window open and active click the Alt button on your keyboard. You should see the old File menu display at the top of the Computer window.
Open Folder Options: Now click File in the new menu that has appeared, scroll down, and click on Folder Options.
Choose Options: Click the view tab and select the options you want to change. To display all files and folders as well as hidden file extensions follow these three steps.
* Under the “Hidden Files and Folders” sub menu move the radial button to “Show Hidden Files and Folders”
* Uncheck “Hide extensions for known file types”
* Uncheck “Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)”
Save and Apply: Now click the Apply button in the bottom right corner of this window followed by clicking the Apply to Folders button near the top left to apply the new options to all folders. Note that changes will not affect currently open folders but will start working for any folders opened after it has been applied to all folders.
Test: Now close all of your currently open windows and then begin to navigate your Users directory. If no changes had previously been made you should not have been able to see the AppData directory that was in C:\Users\YourUserName\ but it should now be visible.

have you tried deleting your skyrim inis both syrimprefs and the normal skyrim ini , start the game and it will create a new set for you ?
also if you go into the skyrim root folder there maybe a folder called skyrim and in side of that is a ini aswell that needs deleting before you re start the game to get some fresh inis
-
i would say delete your skyrim inis both of them skyrimprefs and just skyrim ini , then restart the game and let the game create a new sett of inis

If you have an nvida card with AO enabled disable it because AO is broken buy patch 1.5 , also what is your fShadowBiasScale= set to mine was very low and it caused lines on textures and flickering of shadows , i have now set it to fShadowBiasScale=1.0000 and all seems fine , also are any of you running any graphics mods like injectors or ENB ?

Make sure to save outside of the cell being upgraded. This has been common practice since Fallout 3. If you save inside of a cell and upgrade the mod controlling that cell , all manner of oddness will most definitely occur.
From the front page of the mod make sure your on the other side of the map b4 saving the game then exit the game install the mod , then load the game then fast travel near bye , post back to see if that has helped ?
