    New guy

Name: Chris Age: 26 Occupation: IT for local Pedology lab. Education: Fresh out of college, majored in Computer Science (didn't want to take physics for computer engineering. I'm no good at math, barely passed trig in high school.) Hobbies: internet and computers, all goes hand in hand Favourite games: Fallout 3, Insurgency: Modern Infantry Combat (I play on edge's 24/7 dust2 server pretty regularly), and Sauerbraten Gaming platform of choice: PC Operating system of choice: Debian GNU/kFreeBSD (dual booted with Windows 7, only boot into it for the few games that don't perform well in Wine) Since I'm no good at pulling jokes out of thin air (I'm more for wit than your normal run-of-the-mill humour), I'll just leave you with my cleanly presented background information.
  2. VMR9, simply put, is hardware acceleration. Before, Aero was using software rendering, and switched whenever you were watching a movie because the movie wanted to have that software rendering. Edit: Also, just out of curiosity, what cooler are you using on your CPU? My C2Q has trouble with stability past 3.3 GHz
  3. Believe it or not, mobility 5850 is more powerful than 260m, despite it being cheaper. I'm not even talking just a little better, 5850 completely topples the 260m. The next card down, the 5730, performs on par with the 260m, for $150 less. Only about 1 in 20 games support the eight threads you get from the i7, if you get the i5 you'll only lose one or two frames per second in even the lightest games, but you'll gain $100. For gaming, there is no discernible difference between 1066 MHz DDR3 and 1333 MHz DDR3, but if you plan on messing with programs like after effects or something, then I would suggest keeping that option.
  4. Get a Radeon HD 5670, it's a great card that can run off virtually no power.
