  1. That's unfortunate. But if you have Steam you could get Oblivion really cheap if you wanted. The often have 75% or more sales where you could get the GotY edition for under 5$ if you want an OBSE compatible version. Without OBSE you're basically forced to skip some of the best mods.

  2. I wouldn't say it's an overhaul overkill. Especially since MOO adds to OOO. Haven't really played yet though. I'm still struggling to get my game stable. But at least I have basically a complete mod list now of what I want to use. When I've got my game stable to play I'll post it here. But first I want to see if everything works as it should.

I agree that the little things can improve the feel of the game quite a bit. You'll notice them more because you'll know exactly what they do and can check it out in game right away. The big things are sometimes hard to see right away. For example if you use OOO you'll probably won't notice much of it at the start or you don't recognize it as part of it because it's hard to keep in mind what a mod does if it does so many things and you're using many mods at once.

  3. Hola, I need some help on how to create an .esp file to tell the game to use a certain .bsa file I created.

I packaged all the textures and meshes of the UOP, QTP3R and some other small mods into a .bsa. The goal is to reduce the occupied space on my SSD and to use the .bsa on my RAM disk for a more stable game. I basically want the game to load the .bsa after the default Oblivion .bsa's so that the improved textures are applied.

I've searched the web for an hour or more now for information on how to do this but haven't found anything helpful so far. So, I would be thankful if anyone could give me some advice how to do this.

  4. I'm looking for a mod that prevents the DLC quests from popping up right at the games beginning. They should appear when you visist the correct locations or speak to the right people.

I know that such a mod exists but just not how it was named or where I should look for it anymore.

  5. Same for me. I have bought the GotY edition on steam many years ago but rarely played it. The hassle with all the mods just always destroyed my motivation to really get into it. But the vanilla game is just not that good.

Now, finally I have the motivation to really get into it though it's still frustrating learning all the neccesary stuff about Wrye Bash, instal orders, compatibilities etc.

Here's my WIP mod list so far. Maybe you can draw some inspiration from it. It's centered around making the game look as good as possible while remaining a playable performance. Furthermore I include a few gameplay additions to buff the vanilla experience.

  6. Sid Meier's Pirates. It's a fun game. A little old but still good and should be very cheap to get.

If you want it a bit more realistic maybe check out Port Royale. Afaik you can become a pirate there as well.

  7. For me the best RPG of all time is hands down the Baldur's Gate trilogy. What Lord of the Rings is for fantasy novels Baldur's Gate is for RPG's. The supreme benchmark many try to copy but no one really achieves it. It's basically one huge game in three parts. Just like LotR. The Story was perfect. The immersion was perfect. And the gameplay was basically perfect as well. It's also a very long game with so many stuff one can do besides the main quest and so many interesting characters to get to know. BioWare really created the masterpiece with their first ever game they did. They used to programm software for medical purposes before.

The close second place on my list would be also a BioWare game in Star Wars: Knights of the old republic. That game was so good that I played straight through it two times in a row just because I wanted to experience another way of choices. Before that I basically never played through a game two times except for games that are meant to be, like Diablo. Unfortunately the sequel couldn't live up to the greatness of the first game.

The third place goes to Final Fantasy VII, the RPG I had the strongest emotions about when Sephiro killed the lovely Aeris. Overall the game is just awesome. They really should remake it with modern technology, gameplay and professional voice acting.

Other noteworthy RPG's are Dragon Age Origins for it's gameplay and lore (the books in addition are really interesting), the Fallout series, Jade Empire, Mass Effect (still want to play the 2. & 3. game), Morrowind and Oblivion.
