To expand on this, if you do the quest Pam gives you about securing a cache for them, then talk to Tinker Tom afterwards, he'll show you how to mod lots of clothing to be armoured - think I'm getting something like 110 ballistic and energy damage resistance off my military fatigues, and I've armoured up my charisma boosting clothes too. It can be a bit random what you are and aren't allowed to improve, though.

I'd like the sight/sound of vertibirds to inspire either overwhelming relief or terror, depending on my allegiance. I have no idea how the Brotherhood has any left by this point, really, and it's kind of ruining the impression of overwhelming military and technological superiority for me when I'm constantly ducking flaming debris because two raiders with pipe rifles just took one down again. The only time they seem to survive fights are when I sprint forward to take out their enemies for them. I'd much appreciate a mod to make them significantly tougher to kill; make it basically require well-aimed missiles or mini-nukes to have any realistic chance of taking one down, that sort of thing.
