Well, I removed HDR as well as forced AA and no flickering of the screen anymore when I hit. I also had forgotten to activate one feature of DR6, the 1st persons legs thingy. But when I tested with no HDR no AA, the DarkUI'd Darn interface was a little messed up, missing some frames around the options in the main screen and strangely highlighting some words in the savegame selection screen... Test in progress...

Thanks for the tips. So, those settings here are for non-forced AA, right? By the way, I'm starting to wonder about one thing: I get this problem only since I've installed the brand-new Deadly Reflex version 6. And only the "hit a target" moments seem to be cause of this strange screen flickering. I remember having Oblivion HDR with Nvidia forced AA running without any problem before. Since that time, too, the dead bodies of enemies are completely green (they die, they turn green, clothes included, nude version included, NPCS, creatures or even skeletons). I might have to reinstall Oblivion AGAIN (might be the 25th time now...) to try to sort the problem out.

Thank you!! Well, seems that the behavior is rather erratic, because I don't have the bug with opening/closing the inventory. When the screen goes bat-s*** crazy, It in fact gives me flashes of the starting prison cell (I'm still at the moment you loot the katana on the Captain and fight your first rats). First, as i'm a MMORPG player, I thought Oblivion was lagging :D :D By the way, I assume the forced AA settings on Nvidia Control Panel must be placed on Oblivion.exe and not on obse_loader.exe, right? The last one is just a "dummy" to make sure that Oblivion.exe is launched with OBSE settings, right? And do you have an advice on what are the right settings for the Nvidia Control Panel-induced graphic override on Oblivion (Anti-aliasing, anisotropic filtering, etc.) ?

Okay, I have this very strange problem: all the dead bodies are now green. I mean, a rat is of normal color until I kill it, then it turns green. All skeletons (like the one on which you retrieve your first set of armor and weapons in the tutorial dungeons) are also green. I think that might have to do with MMM, because next to that skeleton I have big "WTF! Missing mesh" constructs. And with FormID Finder, it tells me that the missing mesh is located in what appears to be the MMM.BSA I use FCOM + Fran + OOO + MMM (plus others, but not relevant here), so I'm aware that I must rename the MMM.bsa into FCOM_Convergence - MMM.bsa to have FCOM_Convergence to load it properly. But it seems that it doesn't work at all... Does anybody know the way to fix that? Here's my load other (under Wrye Bash, ordered with BOSS latest revision and masterlist, with the Bashed Patch successfully recompiled), if it can help :

Interesting topic, because I happen to have exactly the same problem, except that it only happens when I hit or get hit. The problem only disappears when the fight is over. So I might try to fickle with HDR and forced AA, because I happen to use both, too (in-game HDR and forced AA through my nVidia control panel)... And interestingly enough, I also had the menu problem: the intro vids work well but no selection menu ever appears... I thought I had wrongly installed something so I made (again !) a fresh install. From what you say, it could come from this forced AA thing? I'll try what you tried, to see if it helps.

Wow, a senior gamer! Very nice to have you amongst the RPG fans community, you prove that gaming has no age! :D Yes, it is true that you can convert any mod in a OMOD format. I personnally use it a lot, because that way it installs and uninstalls cleanly things in Oblivion, and given the propency of this game to crash very often, it's priceless! ^_^ You just have to read carefully the procedure on how to convert a mod into a functional OMOD and that's all. Here http://rapidshare.com/files/429917433/mods_Oblivion_COMPLETE_3_54.pdf you should be able to find my PDF about the mods. It's in french, but with a good dictionary you should be able to figure out what's what; in addition, the mods names are generally in english, and to access the download website you will just have to click on the name of the mod, thus allowing you to read a description in english. I'd just like to comment on the above snip. Since you're talking about file limits and then you gave inaccurate advice as to where the actual .omod files go. It would be kinda silly to put the .omod of an installed or uninstalled mod in the data folder right? You'd be taking up two valuable spaces for the same mod if it's active, and one space if it's inactive, for no reason. Thus counting against your 400 limit. In fact the default location for OBMM is not even the data folder. The default location is Oblivion\obmm\mods. That's where your active or inactive .omod files should be. This way you don't clutter up your data folder. Then if you activate the mod it's only taking up one slot, for the actual .esp/esm files. Just wanted to clear that up. Yup, it's true! I don't understand why I said to put them in the data folder... Anyway, you're right, the Oblivion\obmm\mods is the right path. Sorry for the inaccurracy!

Yes, you downloaded the right files for Wrye bash, but download alos the Wrye Bashy Python one, it contains all the utilities Wrye Bash needs to run correctly. Don't worry, the installation is very simple for python, it's an exe. For Wrye Bash, just unzip the contents in your /Oblivion folder (not the /oblivion/data one!). It's true, Oblivion can run up to 255 activated mods, but Wrye Bash enables you to merge some of them so you can in fact have upt to 300-400 mods (that's the ultimate limit, it seems). OMOD is the special file format used by Oblivion Mod Manager. In fact, you put the .omod file in your oblivion/data folder, load it with Oblivion Mod Manager and activate it. That way, if you're not pleased with the mod, the uninstallation process is much cleaner, because it will automatically remove the right files and only the right files. My favorites mods? Hmmm, there are so many... In fact, I wrote a guide describing most of the mods I use, I did it for my friends and members of another forum, but the problem is that it's in french (because I'm french)... So, I don't know if you can read french... But at least all the mods listed in my pdf file are hyperlinked with the download sites (Tesnexus and PlanetElderscrolls) so, even if you don't understand french, you can click on the hyperlink and read the descriptions of the mods on internet. Tell me if you're interested!

Okay, I see that you don't have many mods yet, which is good! I have more than 300 installed, and believe me, it's pure hell to make sure that everything runs smooth... But the experience I got from that makes me able to help you now, so I guess it was not totally useless... :D My advice : really, really use Oblivion Mod Manager (for OMODs) BOSS and Wrye Bash. Those utilities will really help you a lot if you plan on installing other mods. Wrye Bash is a complex tool, but it's so powerful that it's really worth your time! Plus I know there are some guides on Wrye Bash on the TesNexus. The load order is the key of everything and quickly, you'll see that the Oblivion Launcher doesn't allow you to really set it properly. The best is Wrye Bash. So, your problem with Kvatch Rebuilt could come from a wrong load order. Also, be careful with Oblivion on Windows 7: don't install it in the default Program Files folder it gives you when you install. Instead, choose another place, because of the way Windows 7 deals with the Program Files folder. I personnaly put Oblivion in a C:\Games folder.

Way to cap FPS in menus sans Vsync?

i'm already using htat and it DOES NOT affect menus for some extremely odd reason. And i wish that it did since pointless rendering menus at extremely high FPS makes absolutely no sense. It is very strange, then, because it DOES affect menus in my install of oblivion. Is your OBSE up-to-date? I know it might be a stupid question, but that could be a possibility -
Hi! Thank you, the kudo showed up! :D For big overhaul mods like that, it's actually recommended to start a new game to be sure all the modifications are included. It might also work with your actual game, but you should then expect a higher rate of CTDs, I think. It also depends on your mod list. If you want, you can post it here so I can review it. I can't say I know every mod out there, of course, but if I can help you save some time from the generally long and boring mod installation process in Oblivion, I'd be happy to!

To complete that, I would still recommend to add the 1.34 Beta. Yeah, it's optional, yeah, it's a beta, but still it's very interesting and very stable. I have had absolutely no crash with it so far. You're right, the installation process can be somewhat tricky. Here are some easy steps : 1 : download the OOO_133_Complete.7z from the link Hickory gave you and install it, preferably with Oblivion Mod Manager (options are esay to choose that way) 2 : top that with the file you will find here : http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=23202 (revised meshes for OOO means less resources needed from your computer) 3 : go back to Hickory's link and download the 1.34 beta 4 : again, top it with that : http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=24511 And voila! That way, you will have the latest version of OOO installed with optimized (less resource-hungry) files, which will help for the stability of your whole Oblivion installation!

Then, top it with that : http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=23202 Then, go back to the first link I gave you and download the OOO_134_Beta_5_patch file, and install it Finally go there : http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=24511 download and install it. Voila! You have the latest, stable, optimized verion of OOO! :D There is no real other program you need with OOO, except of course Oblivion Mod Manager if you choose the OMOD versions, B.O.S.S. (better oblivion sorting software, helps you with your load order) and Wrye Bash (helps you with the possible incompatibilities). You're welcome! :) But make it a golden rule to "Always read the readme in its entierety, especially the possible "incompatibilities" section"! Yes, it takes time, but less than installing things, having CTDs and then having to fully reinstall Oblivion again... ;)

I can't talk for LFact, but Oblivion Stutter Remover is a must have for me. Especially the 30 FPS cap was a very nice feature and it helped me a lot on outdoor situations.

You can try Oblivion Stutter Remover : http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=23208 It has a FPS cap feature and, for having used it myself, I think it limits FPS everywhere in the game, including the menus. You will have to read carefully the description, but the setting in the ini file (OSR ini file, not Oblivion ini file) is easy to find and the creator of thi obse plugin gives good descriptions on what to do nd what not to do, so it should be quite safe, I think. -
Hello, It means that to make your mods work, you have to download and then install mods called OOO (Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul) and/or FCOM. You will find those two mods easily on Tesnexus, but be sure to read carefully the descriptions and readme, because if OOO is quite straightforward to install, FCOM can be tricky...

Do you use Streamline, by any chance? I remember that using Streamline, it was constantly resetting my preferences to its preferences... Could be the culprit, in that case, you'd have to finetune Streamline and then go back you set your preferrences. Streamline will control the cursors of the "details" of your setting (tree details, depth of view, etc.), so that could be the origin of your problem. Unfortunately I don't know the solution. In my case, I simply removed Streamline and chose a world texture pack less resource-hungry (I was using Qarl's Texture Pack 3). -
OBMM 256 limit - I want to breech the Limit

Well, you know, I'm setting up my modded oblivion and it has more than 350 esps included. On those 350 mods, maybe 10 are armour mods. The rest is a full FCOM install, combat rebalances, magic rebalances, "realism" tweaks and so on... And don't start me on Unique Landscapes!! :D They are so well done that I want to run them all, but then you have to think about the compatibility esps between them, but also with some quests and some other mods... Believe me, if you simply want to rebalance your game in a thorough way, you'll reach the 255 limit pretty quickly !! By the way, if somebody could help me determine which mods I could now merge without harm, it would be of a great help. I've spent many hours installing everything according to a guide i found on the official forum, and i just don't want to make everything fall apart by merging the wrong mods together... Here's my load order : Don't mind about the Armures Supplementaires 1 & 2 esps, they are armour mods I merged. Since I did that, in fact, i saw other armour mods on my load order and so modified my merged esp. I have to merge mods because I'd like to activate the following mods: Real hunger, Cobl Sn Arrow effects Get wet ReallyImmersiveMessagesNoBirthsigns sycSHOUT sycHearNoEvil Real Sleep Extended Realistic Fatigue Wayshrines Improved UV Vanilla Quests Fixes Persuasion Overhaul kuerteeInventoryisabackpack GP_Lockpicks 24hrArenaAliveV2Towers FrbitTravel Streamline 3.1 Patched If somebody could help me... -
reinstall, old savegames + missing mods

Like LFact said, Wrye Bash is especially useful in that case : it has a "savegames" tab in which you can see precisely which mods were linked to your savegame. From them you can even edit the mod list to remove any dependency you don't need/want anymore. Pretty useful! -
Now, Dereliction, that what I call an answer ! :D Here, have a well-deserved kudo for your help! I did not know about SPAM, but it looks quite straight-forward, as you said. And it only requires one .esp, according to what i saw of the options i won't use anyway. That's worth a look and a try and thanks again for the suggestion. Nevertheless, I remain open to other suggestions! ;)

Hi, I've been reinstalling Oblivion from scratch (for the i-don't-want-to-know th time...) and i've tried to do everything i could to narrow down the number of mods i'm loading each time. So, this brings me to my question : which levelling mod would you recommend me and why? Some background about me : i've spent so many hours reinstalling Oblivion, tweaking .ini and browsing on internet on my quest for the best possible Oblivion... First of all, I had been satisfied with Fran's levelling up system. But then, browsing forums and specialists' sites, i've discovered that there are lots and lots of other possibilities, most of them recommending not to use Fran's system even when they were not promoting their own mod! :D So, i decided to settle down with Progress and nGCD. It seems to work fine, but the main drawback for me is the number of esp to load in Wrye Bash... I've installed Realistic Health and Realistic Fatigue, so of course my attention has been drawn to Realistic Levelling. But the readme is not clear, as it seems to say that it can work along with Progress!! Is it true? Does it mean that it also work with Progress+nGCD? If yes, then, why should i bother with installing Realistic Levelling?? I also saw Oblivion XP, but i think that's not for me. Don't misunderstand me, I'm not saying it's a bad mod, it's just that i feel it's not what i'm looking for. I love the levelling systems in old RPGs, but i prefer Oblivion to be different. There are certainly alternatives i don't know about, so feel free to tell me, but please help me by each time justifying why you would recommend me this or that mod. Thank you!
