Hey guys! So i was trying to copy a certain character from a certain game (not an easy task, mind you!) and after quite a while playing with the sliders I came up with this. The reason I am not telling you which character it is, is because, IF you guys can recognize what character it's supposed to be, then that means I've done at least a decent job. If you guys can't, then perhaps I should try more (unless you don't know the game it is from at all). Please see attachment for screenshot. Let me know what you think!

Hello! The project has not been abandoned, however, I have been sick for the last few weeks, I am waiting for that to end. :( As soon as I am able to I will resume efforts on this mod :) -

Thank you very much for your replies :) Right now we are fleshing out the story, and are still looking for a modder interested int aking up the project. As soon as we begin building the mod we will surely need to get that voice acting on the way :D Any modder that would be interested in taking up the project I can send them what we have so far story-wise through private message :) -

Yeah, definitely taking my time reading and re-reading tutorials. Since my focus is to make quests, I am reading the quests tutorials first. Provided that in the end I can't find modders to help with my project, I might just have to do it myself. Although I really hope that is not the case... it will take quite a long time to get it done then :( :D But I am bent on getting this done one way or another :) I just hope that I don't get it done by the time the next elder scrolls is out, lol XD hehe -

Well, the plan is to make new NPCs, and eventually modify old ones. However, in order to avoid creating in-game conflicts with existing quests and other things that might be affected by modifying a vanilla NPC, at least to start I believe it's best to make a new unrestricted NPC. I might be being a bit ambitious here, but if we manage to find a team willing to submit to a truly epic project, I would like to eventually reach out to every single NPC in the game. That, however, is something that is as of now way beyond my reach. I can't mod worth a dime, and I am hoping to find modders and people that can use the CK wiling to put time into this. Until then, I will be writing stories, dialogue, and anything else story-related with the help of the others that are with me on the project currently. Ultimately, we need a modder willing to spend the time to put our words into the game :) I fired up the Creation Kit for the first time ever when I started this thread, and been following some tutorials, but I am so far from knowing what I am doing. I will follow through with this project no matter what. If I never do find a modder, then eventually I'll learn how to mod myself. And Aediles Beadle, if you want to help with story well, you could PM me your ideas ^.^. So far we have three outlines for three different stories, two female NPCs and one male NPC (for the female players out there) we will develop only one at first, but everything else we create in between will find its way into the game at some point :) -

Wow, thank you very much for that thread, I sent the author a PM, hopefully he will write back. What started as 1-2 starting stories, have now become 3-4 stories. No idea which we will implement first, I am waiting on feedback from the other story-writers to see what they think :) At this rate, by the time we work on the first NPC I'll have a story down for all of the ones I am hoping to implement, lol. Have two female NPC starting stories, and a male one. I might just post my story ideas here in the future, but I'd really hate to post spoilers for potential mod players ^.^ hehe :D -

TheDarkPrince & Eukalipto Well, in the end, some of the creators' personality will rub off on the character. Personally, regardless of how creative I could be, I find it nearly impossible to create a character that is the total opposite of who I am, maybe since it's well, the oppiste ^.^ 3ukalipto, I understand perfectly what you mean and it absolutely makes sense. I am hoping to not simply create a Mass Effect idea, in which you interact a little bit with a character and then you can sleep with them. I am hoping to have a mod in which the NPC is as important as the player themselves and winning their affection would take both dedication and patience. And even afterwards, maintaining that spark should take dedication and patience. I have already drafted two short versions of the NPC stories I have in mind, although I haven't posted them here, since they are quite not ready. The example in my very first post (thread starter) is one of them, although that idea has been expanded upon. Esteris has some great suggestions as well, and the list she made in the previous page is a very good example of what I would like to achieve. Now, if only we could find a scripter willing to commit to a project such as this ^.^ hehe :D We have time though, so I will continue writing, developing characters, and the team will eventually come together at some point :) -

Hmm honestly I am torn between the two. I would love to do both at once, but that won't be possible. Being a guy, maybe I could do a male character first, since it would be easier for me to infuse such NPC with a personality (let's face it, 90% of us men have no actual idea how women really think). Furthermore, I have been considering leaving the female romanceable NPC for a female storywriter, which I have one interested at the moment. In a way, maybe us writers could infuse those NPCs with our own personalities ^.^ perhaps a way to let the players get to know the people behind the mod themselves :D Would that be lame? ^.^ I will ask the other two that are currently with me to see if they think we should go with a female or male character first. :) -

Thank you so very much for the suggestions. Some of them are exactly what I have in mind, but it will probably be a mod that will take a long while ^.^ I have already found another storywriter that wants to help with the project, so her and me will be putting our ideas together very soon to see what we can formulate. I have an outline of what the "plot" will be like, but I am considering letting her write and design a side of the plot in her own way and develop a character in whichever way she sees fit. In other words, I will take care of developing and creating everything pertaining to the main character, while she will take care of another character in the story along the way. Then, we will put both our mini-stories together. What I am hoping to do is, instead of simply write everything in a way that would seem "appropriate" for me, I am hoping to perhaps run into an NPC personality that I might not be able to visualize, and then I would have to adjust my NPCs reactions and opinions according to how that other NPC affects my NPC. Haha, I don't know if I am making any sense. I guess you could call it "roleplaying". Talking about which, you should totally join us ^.^ :D -

Hey! Thank you all for your replies. Actually after talking to the people that are currently willing to help with the mod, we have decided to develop a single NPC and flesh him/her out as best as possible, iron out all the possible bugs and errors, and once we are more experienced at doing this kind of mod, plot and story then we can implement more. Hehe I actually wrote to the original poster in that post that was mentioned but he said the project had been abandoned. I have been contacting people that seem to have an interest in this kind of mod and well, so far there are three that have replied :) We need everyone that would like to chime in and help in any way possible. We need everything, especially modders and scripters :D Even though I initially considered this mod a "romance" mod, well, it seems that the scope of my ideas will be much more than that. It won't simply be a dating sim quest to gain a love interest, instead, it will be something much much deeper, and NPC with likes, dislikes, desires, motives, fears, and in short, hopefully the NPC that we develop will be a "person" someone a player can grow to love or hate. And someone that won't necessarily feel the same way the player feels about him/her. Right now we are in the "story" phase. Implementing all the more advanced ideas will require the help of someone with scripting experience. Hopefully we can find that person ^.^ -

The amount of NPCs well hmm, I don't want to just add romance options for the sake of adding them, but have fully fleshed out NPCs with motives stories and goals (or no goals, heh that alcoholic woman might have no other goal than to waste her life away unles the player comes along and gives her a greater purpose). I would like to eventually have a few NPCs spread out in such a manner that the encounter with them would be, as I stated in the first post, totally random, unexpected, and no different from a regular random meeting in the vanilla game. The idea is to make it so that players are not like "oh, this one of the mods NPCs, I better behave" and instead they simply can't tell the difference from a mod NPC or a regular in-game quest person, hopefully so that players can be "themselves". Not sure if I make any sense, lol. Part of the outline well, a very very small part of it is already in the first post. (Prostitute). However, I have expanded a lot more in that idea. -

Hello, thank you for the reply. Currently, I have an outline for a story of one of the NPCs. Initially, that is all we would work on. Probably develop a single NPC, iron out all the bugs, and then implement more. reaper9111 (our level designer, when we get enough people), suggested that we work on one NPC at a time, and I think it's a great idea. Any help would be welcome, you can't have too many of anything with a mod of this size. I really hope that enough people chime in as well :) I was excited when I read the other post, but since it was abandoned I decided to attempt to pick it up. -
EDIT: Post updated with new information and sample stories (bottom) As the title says, we are trying to find people interested in participating and helping create a [Romance] mod for Skyrim that would entirely replace the current romance system in the game. However, the mod will not be centered around romance, in fact it will be about giving certain NPCs a background story, why they are who they are, where they are, and in short, develop a full fledged personality for NPCs. Initially, we will work on only one NPC. However, once we get that one NPC working the way we want, (and also based on feedback from the community) we will slowly add more NPCs, and even modify some of the pre-existing NPCs in the game (housecarls, for example). PLEASE NOTE: Even though I refer to the NPC as "her" and "she" we are also planning to implement male love interests as well. (We actually have one backstory for one of those male NPCs already) We are considering allowing same-sex romance, so that everyone can be involved in whichever way they see fit. IMPORTANT: Sample stories at bottom ^.^ Here are some of the basic ideas of what we are trying to achieve: NPC will have a background, complete with place of origin, who they are, who their parents were, and in short, the reason why they are who they are today in the game. The background would be lore friendly and in accordance to the NPCs race, and any other details that might affect someone's origin. This background will shape the NPCs reactions to the player, the world around, and other NPCs. This NPC would be named in such a way that it would blend in among the other NPCs in the game. The player meeting this NPC would be based on a few factors (depending on NPC) and would be by pure chance. The NPC will most likely not come to the player. Meeting this NPC would trigger a series of events that depending on a few player choices along the way could turn out in quite the plotline and story. Based on how long you spend with this NPC, how helpful you are, and other factors, the NPC might choose to share their history with you, aka their background. Asking too much about their background even when they say they don't want to talk about it could lead to the NPC becoming angered and leaving you. Even if you follow the plotline and complete the NPCs various quests or requests, it does not mean they will instantly love you (see below). Depending on how the player interacts with this NPC, the NPC can end up a) falling in love with the player b) leaving, abandoning, or otherwise being indifferent to the player c) hating the player... in this instance, it would be possible for that NPC to attempt to assassinate you (or find the means to hire others to do it). One of the things that would influence whether an NPC likes you, for example, is how much time you spend with them. If you just casually once in a while talk to this NPC, he or she will most likely never be available to you romantically. If on the other hand, you visit often, take her places, help her with her problems, train her (yes, we are considering the possibility to teach an NPC to fight) and in short, spend quality time with her, she will very likely, depending on the kind of player you are, fall in love with you. However, it might take quite some time for this to happen :D We are aiming to make an NPC that is not just a robot that automatically loves the dragonborn just because. At some points, NPC would reveal things they like, or not like. Usually through idle chatter as you walk around, so if you are paying attention to what your companion NPC says, you might be able to score a few points by keeping in mind what she said. For example, by walking through a farm the NPC makes a general comment that she loves berries. Give her some berries later on and ding ding ding! you scored some points. If on the other hand she comments she hates berries, but you are not listening and then give her berries well, she'll be grateful but... you get the point. Now, let's say you marry an NPC, after countless hours of in game.. let's call it "roleplaying". Just because she is now married to you, it does not mean she won't leave you. Dropping her off in a city and forgetting about her for a certain amount of time (not decided yet) would initially make her concerned, then slowly angry, and if you disappear long enough, when you return she will be ready to divorce you. Doing anything (or failing to do) things that would normally make her like or hate you before you were married would still have the same effect. Perhaps even more so since by now you should know her a bit better than to give her those berries she hates so much (example). She would notice if you are excessively talking to that woman or man "over there" and would question you about it. Or, if you are caught "flirting" (we are considering the possibility of adding those options to several NPCs) and she is within earshot, she will also question you about it. Enough transgresions, and depending on the NPC and her personality, she might dump you, or the person you flirted with might be found dead on a ditch a few days later, or maybe you might be found dead in your bed. Who knows? Here are other ideas that we would love to implement and suggested by people in this thread: And I quote: And now the HARSH truth: This is a HUGE project, and it will take quite a while to complete. There are only five of us currently, and we need as much help as we can get. We need anyone that would like to assist with a mod such as this. This mod will NOT be abandoned like many others have, but, as stated above we will need a lot of help. We need everything you guys can offer: Storytelling, Voice Acting, Scripting, Modding, anyone with experience with the Creation Kit, and anything else you guys can do that you believe might be of help. IMPORTANT: Sample stories :D Story Number 1 A young woman is struggling to sustain and pay for the care and medicines for her terribly ill and slowly dying mother. Her father, a hopeless alcoholic and gambler, has lost all sense of duty towards his wife or daughter. In fact, he even goes as far as to steal her hard earned money, to sustain his habits. She resigned that this is what her life was, work incesantly and hope that her "father" would leave just enough so that they wouldn't die of hunger, and that it could not get any worse, but she was so wrong. When one night she was sold to some lord from far away to pay off a gambling debt, and the man defiled and raped her for a full night without mercy, then she knew that she had hit rock bottom. After that fateful night, her father and the strange man disappeared, and she made it her goal to one day find them and make them pay -dearly- for what they had done. For now, she would care as best she could for her mother in her last days, and at least the money she earned wouldn't be stolen or used for alcohol or gambling... But when it was all done, they would both pay, with their blood. Although she could not see how it would even be possible... Until she met the one people called Dragonborn. Perhaps, her fate was now taking a turn for the better... A story about revenge, exacting due justice, and perhaps, even a bit of love. Story Number 2 When she saw this person she did not recognize approach the village, she was certain that something was horribly wrong. And her fears were confirmed: for the person that approached handed her a small note, and a bag with some herbs and ingredients inside... But there was no time to mourn the loss of her sister, and from the bottom of her heart she thanked this person for bringing the ingredients, for they would be the salvation of this town. Weeks ago, a few people got sick with a horrible and unknown disease, and the town witch tried her best, but she ran out of components in the middle of preparing a cure. Now, half the town was dead -if you could call it that- those that died of this disease rose hours later and attacked anyone within sight... But now, there was hope. The necessary components to make the cure were here, and those that had not died yet would be saved. Or so she thought... A day after taking the supposed cure, those that were supposed to heal, instead turned instantly into those monsters... And the witch seemed to have disappeared. Now, the only ones left were her, and this stranger that had brought the "cure"... Could this person be responsible... or the witch? Or maybe they are allied in some way? A story about how the temptation of power can corrupt even the purest of souls. Will you be corrupted? Story Number 3 He had done this many times. Go into town with the other Blackcloaks, kill everyone, then let the mages do their dirty work. He still could not get used to the huge runes they drew after the massacre was done. The thought of all those souls being yanked out of their path towards Sovngarde, to instead be fed to their god... No matter. If they wanted to achieve the immortality their god promised, this had to be done. But then, those big blue eyes looked at him from inside the cupboard in "that" house over there. And then, the owner of those eyes talked, and asked "Sir, where is my mommy?" He looked behind him, the body that he had just dropped to the ground with a single swipe of his sword, and his heart felt like it was being squeezed by a giant. What the hell was he doing? Without thinking, he picked up the little girl, ran out the door, and after heading for the closest treeline at the edge of town -after cutting down one of his own men- he disappeared into the night. He swore he would protect this girl with his life, but that soon proved to be harder than he could have ever anticipated. "They" had eyes everywhere, and usually within days of settling down in any specific place, his hideout would be found. Then, under the strangest circumstances, he met someone. Someone, that somehow, instilled new hope in him. Who is this person? A story about redemption, and how even the most evil of all deserve a second chance...

The answer to this question is in what Paarthurnax himself says when you inform him that the Blades want him dead. It has been a while but it's something along these lines: "They are wise to not trust me. But, let me ask you a question. Which is better? Someone who is "born" good, or someone who overcomes his evil nature through great effort?" Or, in other words. Who has the best "good will?" Someone who is good simply because they grew up knowing that evil is bad, or someone who is evil, puts aside all his feelings, urges, and like he says "his very nature" and performs good acts? That should be your answer to the question. I believe that for millennia, since he helped the humans defeat Alduin, and his continued "watch" to fight Alduin if and when he returns, Paarthurnax has redeemed himself in more ways than any could ever achieve. What have the blades done in comparison? Or specifically, what has Delphine done in comparison? Long after Delphine is gone and dead, Paarthurnax will till be watching to keep the dragons at bay. And EVEN if he eventually returns to his evil nature, he still gave us the tools to defeat the dragons and him... Should it become necessary.

"Romance Mod" (if you are into modding, please read this!)
Dalgon replied to NathanRyan's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
I contacted the thread starter about offering my help for the project, and he stated in a private message that the team he had suddenly disappeared hence this idea has been completely abandoned. I would love to participate in such a project, but I have no modding experience myself. I can help with story, voice acting, or anything that does not involve modding, until I learn how to mod, that is. I am considering starting a thread of my own to see if any modders would like to work on a project such as this. Or anyone else that would like to see a better romance experience in Skyrim. :D -
This is an idea of a quest (and possible companion) for Oblivion that I have been thinking about for some time now. I haven't even written these down, however, I believe it would be very nice if it could be done. The problem is, I cannot script at all, and I have never tried texturing :D What I can do is well, come up with ideas, write them, and perhaps even make some NPCs, which of course... is not hard at all. I would like to know if anyone would be interested in my idea and would like to work together to see if we can get it done. Of course, anyone willing to help would be welcome, although I'd definitely need someone that's good at scripting or has experience making companions/quests. Here is a small synopsis of what I have in mind: Quest Start #1: The PC happens to walk outside the Imperial City (or any other place) only to overhear some "voices" coming from somewhere close to the gate. As he quietly gets closers, he observes that a black hooded man is talking to an Imperial Guard (or what seems to be one) The hooded man is tall, wearing a long black robe and his face cannot be seen. Listening closely, the PC overhears something about "attacking a town", a "distraction" and the "real target" being the "manor in the middle of said town," and also something about some "precious item hidden there". After which, the PC is noticed by both men and inmediately stop their conversation. The black hooded man tells the Imperial Guard "I'll leave this in your hands, I have more pressing matters to attend to" to which the guard replies "Do not worry, he is a dead man". The hooded man casts a spell and disappears. The Imperial Guard attacks the player, with the intent of course, of "silencing him/her". Player can either: a) Fight or b) Run back into the city. Notice that if PC chooses to run back into the city, the "guard" will follow and call the alarm and needless to say, being an "Imperial Guard" and dressed like one, the guards inside will assist against the PC. Should the PC be victorious, he/she will find a note in the guard's inventory upon looting him, where it will be made clear that a few corrupt imperials had been paid very handsomely to turn on their comrades when the town mentioned earlier is attacked (I will add more details later). Plus, the note will mention more about this "manor" and "hidden item" although it will not specify exactly what it is. _________ Alternate Quest Start If the PC is part of the Dark Brotherhood, then he will be given himself/herself the details of what was mentioned earlier, and will be given the job of using the confusion of the attack on such town (which is just a distraction), to infiltrate the manor and steal the item in question. He is also told to not leave any survivors or witnesses should he be caught or seen, for he would be recognized as a member of the Brotherhood or suspected to be one at the very least, which could trigger some unpleasant investigations. In this instance, the quest start #1 would not take place at all. (Even though the implications of it would still apply, of course) In either start mode, the PC will be presented with quite a few choices that might make his time in such town (and afterwards, during the rest of the following quest-line) easier... or a lot harder. Of course, there is a lot more, I could say I have enough ideas for a few hours of interesting gameplay, but let's talk about the companion that I would like to see made. Depending on PC choices, one (or two) people might join the PC, of course with certain goals that the PC could definitely take part in and help (the rest of the questline). The companion would be kind of like in Baldur's Gate, by "alignment", so technically, if the PC does certain things around a companion that's good, that companion will eventually leave (or even try to kill the PC in disgust for his/her actions). It would work the same way with an evil companion (There would be two choices and PC would eventually end up with one of them, depending on PC choices throughout the questline). If the PC is too "nice" and shows "weakness" in front of the evil companion, that companion will eventually leave the PC or even rebel entirely and try to kill him/her. Note that once the PC ends up with one of the two, the other might just want revenge... for one reason or the other, and might find ways to kill the PC, whether by assassination, or other means. (Depending on whether the left-over companion is good/evil). I have a lot of ideas for the companions themselves, functionality, things they would be able to do, that might just set them apart from most companions out there. Simply put, they would have a personality of their own and would not be bound by the PC no matter what. _______ Sorry for the long post... Heh, needless to say, like I mentioned earlier I have a looot of ideas that could develop on a long and interesting quest-line with a lot of interesting choices for the PC, some of which would shape and change some things :) I would say there'll be romance, vengeance, jealousy, and a whole lot of other things... Provided that my idea can be put into something more than just that: ideas. I would totally love if a) Some people were interested in pursuing it. b) There was someone that could script that could take care of the more complicated parts of it. and c) Anyone that wanted to see it a reality is more than welcome :D What do you guys think?
