It played fine until yesterday when I started fighting some ghouls. It kept freezing when they reached striking distance. I avoided the issue by just killing them before they could reach me, but since then, my game has frequently been freezing during combat. I find myself racing to kill the enemies before the game freezes, which seems to be inevitable now. It's most common when fighting raiders but also happened when I was fighting radscorpions. I have to force shut down my computer everytime it happens. I looked up the issue and found this solution: Sounds like the Fallout 3 multi core bug, the most common cause of Fallout 3 freezing. Fallout 3 has trouble with multi core computers, mainly with ones that have more than two cores & use hyperthreading. So if your computer is a multi core this is likely your trouble. There is a fix, you need to edit your Fallout 3 .ini file. The one you want to change is: For XP: My Documents\My Games\Fallout3\ For Vista & Win7: Documents\My Games\Fallout3 The file you want will be called: FALLOUT.ini Open the .ini with Notepad & change this line: bUseThreadedAI=0 to: bUseThreadedAI=1 & insert this line under it: iNumHWThreads=2 Save & close your ini. Hope this helps! Prensa --- I did that and there's been no change. I also installed the unofficial patch. The problem persists. I have no other mods installed. Edit: I have verified the integrity of the game files as well. Also, it seems to happen the most often when underground and when I use a laser pistol, although it could just be coincidence. The computer I am using is a Dell Inspiron 7000 series. It's not actually mine, since mine is broken. Fallout 3 is one of the few games I own that runs well on this computer so I'm very disappointed that I'm having such a major issue :/ --- Laptop Windows 10 Pro Processor: IntelĀ® Core i5-6300HQ CPU @ 2.30GHz 2.30 GHz Installed memory (RAM): 8.00 GB (7.88 GB usable) System type: 64-bit Operating System, x64-based processor
