OK, I finally got it. I verified to vanilla files for the 3rd time. Re-installed the mod, and found XComGame.upk.uncompressed_size and XComStrategyGame.upk.uncompressed_size weren't being deleted upon install. I dumped those and voila the game is up and running.

Hello all, I've been experiencing the same problems. I just purchased Enemy Within, and when I go to start it up after installing Long war, it just says "X-com: Enemy Within has stopped working." No explanation whatsoever. I've looked through the forums and couldn't find any fixes that worked. I was hoping that the OP had found a solution. Of course any other help would be greatly appreciated.
