  1. Shoulda thanked you a little bit further back - but better late, no? Thanks again for all your help and suggestions - you've helped out quite a bit!!! :-)
  2. It's been a while since I've run the game all-Vanilla... A long, long while actually... For... reasons... I went through the pain-in-the-butt process of disabling plugins today... As part-and-parcel of what I was trying to do, I ended up restoring a mid-game save repeatedly, in quick succession, as I disabled and enabled... At one point I essentially ended up with a Vanilla setup again. And was FLABBERGHASTED!!! W.O.W... Did... Does the game REALLY look like THIS out of the box!??!??!? Did I really do almost a complete play-through with the game looking so.... Wow! I very quickly then switched EVERYTHING back on and restored the game again (and I wasn't even in a particularly attractive area of the game either - pretty plain location)... It is actually absolutely INCREDIBLE just how much additional visual quality and atmosphere mods can bring to this game!!! STARTLING!! And I'm not even running any high-rez packs or ultra-settings. But add a few environment and lighting mods (plus a couple of model updates) and suddenly... Well, putting the two results side-by-side one could only really tell it was the same game because of the unique art-direction of the Fallout games - otherwise one would be hard-pressed to make that connection. Anyways. Just had to make this comment. Put it somewhere it might be seen and appreciated... :) But seriously, maybe you should do yourself a favour at some point - especially if you're feeling negative about the game for any reason - and just disable all your plugins for a quick view at what your game would otherwise look like, then re-enable and move forward once more... It actually quite an eye-opener. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for the moddability of games like this! And for the support of a wonderful community such as ours!!!
  3. Thanks for the reply... Any idea what variable it is I'm looking for in FNVEdit?
  4. Heya everyone! I have a helluva lot of mods installed - of those types that interest me most are new world-spaces and quests... As such, I've run across a number of NPCs for whom there is no way out of the conversation window (i.e. the normal way - by actual way of conversation). This even seems to have trickled down to certain vanilla NPCs - perhaps those that have had their conversation-trees added to or edited? Anyways. This is obviously a problem for me - because without another means to exit the conversation interface, it means I can't actually speak to these characters and continue with the game - so quests, quest-data, miscellaneous info, and atmosphere is all lost! IS THERE ANY WAY to forcefully exit conversations? I've checked through the console commands and haven't found anything that seems pertinent... But I haven't exactly gone and tested each and every one of them... I would be MASSIVELY in the debt of anyone that can provide me with an answer / solution!!! Ta, and eagerly awaiting replies, ~Moi
  5. DAMMIT! So what you're telling me is I'm stuck with this problem until such time as I pair down my active-plugins number? Considering they number about 209, I'm assuming that's where the problem lies. DAMN! And I spent SO long just to get a stable system with all these mods in place!!!
  6. Hi all... Hoping someone can help with this... For some off reason, every time I open my Pipboy (or, more specifically, soon as it's closed) my character is BRIEFLY disrobed! It's for only a moment, then the clothes / armour / etc. is restored. However, this adversely affects things like fast-travel - if I'm carrying extra due to allowances made by what's being worn, that momentary nakedness is enough to tell the game I'm over-encumbered and thus disallows fast-travel!!! I have a butt-load of loaded mods, so running through them all one-by-one to try identify the culprit is... an option I'm leaving open should no-one here have any quick ideas off the top of their heads. :-) If someone is aware of this issue, has experienced it before, knows a solution or just may know which mod might be causing this, I'd be very grateful to hear from you!!! An export of my active plugins list is attached, in case someone decides they need it. Thanks in advance all!
  7. Hehe... I thought I was pretty-well experienced with modding... Just goes to show that the specifics of any single, particular game can be... er... convoluted. And hugely important. I've actually taken what I learned here now and re-modded my install of New Vegas as well. I've yet to actually do a proper, complete run-through of Fallout 3 in modded status. The reason I wanted to get the darn thing right now is because that's the intention I now have - to do a complete game with it modded up the whazoo! Unlike with Fallout 3, I've not yet actually finished New Vegas without mods! I came VERY close to the end-game, then decided to hold back until I had all the DLC. Now that I finally DO have all NV DLC I've decided to do a similar thing as per Fallout 3 (just without a Vanilla finished game first) - install all "the best" mods I can fit in there, now alongside DLC I have yet to experience - and then start a new game so I can experience it from start to finish with all the goodies in-place! Anyways... I'll be dropping by again should the need arise. Otherwise, thanks, again, and laters! :)
  8. Meh. So. Fresh install done and re-install of all relevant mods. In the process I discovered that a number of the mods I had installed had Zeta components (many that were loose-file only instead of esp or esm files)... I think that's where I ran into trouble primarily - that and the mix of FOOK and FWE. Strangely, I think I've managed to learn quite a bit more from this process about what to keep and eye on and be aware of etc. when modding. So I suppose it's a win. I'm about an hour out of the vault now and so-far-so-good. Hold thumbs it remains that way. :) THANKS AGAIN Y'ALL!
  9. MUCH appreciate the responses - both Purr4me and M48AS!!! Unfortunately, after following both sets of advice I still haven't managed to resolve the particular issues in question. <Sigh> I've finally, sadly, resolved to do a complete, clean re-install again. And then re-load the entire blinking set of mods from scratch - though this time I'll take both sets of guidance into account whilst I do so. I'll report back on the success (hopefully) thereof when I eventually get through all of it... Wish me luck - this is going to suck hugely!!! :-D
  10. Thanks for the reply! My primary b!tch really is that I managed to get to this large number of mods installed - SUCCESSFULLY I might add - by doing everything right! I'd install only a single mod or three or four at a time, then spend time in-game making sure that the new additions didn't screw anything up! I did this step-by-step until every mod on the list - AND MORE - were installed and the game was working BEAUTIFULLY!!! It was then that I ran into the "too many active plugins" issue, and thereafter reduced the installed mods list by a bunch. Theoretically problem solved, I happily started a new game and managed to get all the way to the start of character-level three before this (these?) new problem reared it's ugly head. With no other changes between then and now. The sheer time it took to carefully, properly, get everything installed and tested and balanced and WORKING - to now be so casually screwed up and tossed out!!!??!?!?!!! ... I... I just CANNOT ALLOW for that to be the last word... DAMMIT!!!
  11. Hi all. Hoping, sincerely, that there's someone out there that can help me resolve my problems - I'm at wits' end - pulling my hair out in absolute frustration!!! I'm not exactly a modding-newb, and I've resolved a lot of issues over time. I've had such success modding Fallout 3 and New Vegas that I eventually committed to downloading basically EVERY mod that tickled my fancy for both games, and got them going - I have over 200 plugins active for each. I initially ran into that nebulous issue you get when TOO MANY plugins are active - where random textures and the like just go nuts and are replaced by our favourite red-exclamations. Resolved simply enough by pairing down the active-plugins / loaded-mods to a sub-216 value (sounds like an arbitrary number, but 220 / 222 seems to be more-or-less the line not to cross on my system, so I keep to 216 to be safe). I specifically mention this because the problem I have now seems to be the same or similar thing, but I've basically ruled it out definitively. I had Fallout 3 running seemingly fine for a bit. Then suddenly started experiencing my current issue... On start-up / load of the game everything initially seems fine. Nothing out of the ordinary, all is right with the world. Though the following actions aren't the only trigger for problems to start showing up, I've found that they consistently and reliably kick things off: Soon as I pull up my pip-boy (which is OK first time around), then put it away again, things go nuts! The pip-boy itself is replaced by the wonderful red-exclamation, as are a lot of other items in the world-space (NPCs nearby are shown carrying them, items just lying around are replaced by them, etc.) and in addition, if I switch to 3rd-person view, I discover that my PC's central body has become invisible or see-through - her lower arms and hands, legs, and head appear normal, but her trunk etc. shows the scenery on the other side! I've tried resolving the problem by hand-loading textures and then meshes from multiple different mods I've installed, with no success. I've tried a whole LOT of things - quite frankly so many different troubleshooting steps that my head feels it'll explode and I can no longer keep track of it all!!! I'm REALLY, REALLY desperate to be able to finally re-play the game now that it's been fully modded, and I'd be eternally grateful to any and all that offer their help, guidance, and wisdom to me!!!! I'm desperate enough at this point to listen to ALL suggestions and try ANYTHING!!! The attached file is a NMM-exported load-list of things as they stand. Dying to hear from y'all! :-)
  12. I have about 212 plugins running simultaneously. It took quite a bit of work to get to the point where everything was running right, dependantly, etc. In the process I discovered just how indispensable FO3Edit is! If you don't already have it installed, grab it and do so. Then kick the application off. In just the process of starting up, it will evaluate your plugins and their order and soon as it finds a problem, will fail and provide you with details you can use to determine where the problem lies. It's then just a question of taking direction from the results, and making the necessary changes, then restarting the utility to move onto the next potential issue. And on, and on, until you no longer receive any fails and FO3Edit completes it's initialisation successfully. If you get to that point, chances are your game will then run ok. Do yourself and favour and install the Fallout 3 Configator as well - it allows you to tweak graphics / sound / performance settings with far more detail and flexibility than otherwise possible (or practical). This is particularly important when running an under-powered rig. :)
  13. ThePesmergia said: Quest for Glory 4: Shadows of Darkness 'nuff said. ' Man!!! You have just MADE MY DAY!!! :-D ' The entire Quest for Glory series is - to me - one of the top 5 game series of all time!!! QfG, the Thief, and Fallout series are probably the top three off the top of my head. Of all time! Endless love to them! :-) ' I actually have both (COMPLETE, series - QfG 1 through 5, and Thief 1 through 3) installed to my laptop as I write this. And am in the process of replaying each series from the first game through the end. Currently on QfG 4 - Shadows of Darkness (only JUST started it - with my character I've exported through each predecessor) and Thief 1 - The Dark Project, Mission 3. ' Actually, while I'm replying... I see some guys mentioned Doom 3 as a top 30. If that's the case, and if anyone else reading this likes either Doom 3 or the Thief series, I would SERIOUSLY recommend you have a look at "The Dark Mod" [.com] - it's a Doom 3 T.C. mod that essentially uses the Doom 3 engine to bring Thief gameplay into the more modern / current realm. No real campaign exists, but there are a HUGE number of missions and mini-campaigns to download and play. It really is VERY good - anyone with Thief, or even Doom 3 likeage should give it a bash! :) ' Okay. That wasn't entirely off-topic. But I suppose enough that I should declare myself done and getting back to the point. <Grins>
