  1. Ok, so the RAM finally came (waiting about 2 weeks for a delivery from Amazon, it's the longest I've ever had to wait for them).

I popped the RAM in my good laptop (the one with the video card).

I wanted to combine it with my 1GB to make 3GB but it wouldn't power on so I had to stick with just the new 2GB.

It made a quite noticable difference on Minecraft so there is almost no lag. I have yet to try Oblivion, which I'm looking forward to. :)

    Quite happy with the result.

    Just letting you guys know.

  2. While I'm in the mood. :)

I need a better computer so I was wondering, is there a place or website I can buy a cheap basic computer which can be upgraded easily?

It needs to be built already.

My problem is that money is tight so I thought it would be better to buy parts and add them to the basic computer gradually.

  3. Ok, never knew that.

I was thinking about Minecraft specifically, anyone think the performance would improve?

    My opinion:

    I have 2 laptops.

One laptop runs Minecraft ok with 1GB RAM and 256Mb video card.

My other laptop runs Minecraft very slow with 1GB Ram and no video card.

So I think it is the video card that makes a difference, not so much RAM.

    Am I correct?

  4. Well I'm using Google Chrome 9.0.597.98 and my resolution is 1280 x 800, no panes open. Just like normal.

I'm seeing this when I inspect in Chrome:

    http://i56.tinypic.com/2im49om.png

I put a red box around the important part on the left " by" whereas it should be " by ", right?

Edit/update: When I press Ctrl+F5 it's fixed. Strange. Why that little error though? Why not something else?

  5. Besides, we don't know for sure if Spellmaking is gone, as it's only been stated in the translations. :)

Well I was quite disappointed about the no spellmaking but I hope you're right...

Also disappointed about Steam. I personally have no problems with it but it's just a little hassle for me, being that I never have nor would like to use it.

Apart from that, all sounds good. :) Particularly excited about destructible environments (if the translation was correct).

  6. If there's any justice in this world, Will-o-the-Wisps will be plentiful in Skyrim. ;)

Oh how I hate those creatures. They go invisible, creep up on you then damage your attributes!

But yeah, I would like to see more variation in the creatures. There was quite a lot in Oblivion but they got old after not too long and the combat was just... boring... So better creature combat too. I'm not meaning to criticize Bethesda, I know they did the best with what they had at the time, just sayin'. :P

  7. Good lord!

Lucky you, I was saving up for one of those but thought "f--- it. There're better things to spend money on". But of course if you have money to spend then it's fine. :)

I've always loved Astronomy and I wish I could do this.

  8. The game is only being released 11 months from now. Why bother? I'd say play the game first, and then think about modding it.

    100% agreed.

I first had Oblivion on the PS3 and I loved it. I played all the way through it without any problems (yeah I know, impossible? :P). Didn't know about mods as I wasn't much of a PC gamer.

I think we only want mods because we know we can.

  9. Like what's already been said, you don't really know what mods you want to make until you know what's already there. :)

Unless it's a place. Then you can plan ahead. : P

  10. Yeah, Todd himself have said that the Modding Community is very important for the Elder Scrolls Games. :)

I believe he said so in the most recent Bethesda Podcast actually.

Ah, didn't know it was Todd. ^^

I read it in an article, I searched for it to reference it but couldn't find it. Oh well.

  11. I'm sure there will be a Creation Set/Construction Set. In one of the articles I saw some Senior Designer (or some other high post) say that the modding was important or something along those lines.

Anyway, Morrowind had one, Oblivion had one, why wouldn't Skyrim? I'm sure Bethesda won't let us down. :)

  12. You can try this script:

    scn scriptname

    Ref Self

    Begin ScriptEffectStart

    Set Self to GetSelf

    If (Self.GetDisposition Player <= 10)
    Self.kill
    ElseIf (Self.GetDispostion Player > 10)
    Return
    Endif
    end

    I believe that would work.

    Yep. Worked great, thanks.

I almost lost it when it said "GetDisposition" not recognized as a function but then I realized the spelling error, in your script it said "Dispostion" (not that it matters). :)

  13. Ok I've tried and failed. Now I realise that I'm bad at scripting. :P

What I want is a mod that makes a spell/enchantment that checks if the target is an enemy. I was thinking "if (GetDisposition Ref < 10) kill".

So anyone with disposition 10 or below towards the player dies.

If their disposition is above, nothing happens.

I'm a total newbie at scripting btw so my guess is very wrong. :P

    Anyone want to make it?

    A staff or spell?

    Or even a sword/mace/dagger/hammer/axe?
