Is anyone still watching this thread? I'm having the exact same problem. Disabled all of my mods, nothing fixed. Removed my custom textures, they still showed up blank. I then tried the fix in this thread and downloaded the newest version I could find of the Morrowind Patch Project (1.6.5 BTB edit). It hasn't helped - scrolls still appear in the exact same fashion. Can anyone advise? I'd rather not have to start from a fresh reinstall, especially if I can't use the patch at all either afterwards??

Having the same installation loop since 4pm today; it worked fine in the morning. There is now no TESV.exe in my related steamapps folder and the Launcher exe has the 'Run as Administrator' greyed out. I can hardly run TESV.exe directly when Steam has deleted it from my local hard drive (how is that reasonable?).. and even though I have a hard copy of the game, after going through Steam Validation (Library - Properties - Validate local cache) I have had to redownload TESV.exe at 40kbps (!!) .. as apparently Steam is unable to comprehend 7MBps bandwidth. I can't believe this game was considered fit for release. More time spent trying to fix it than playing it so far. I'll be backing-up TESV after redownloading.

I booted Skyrim via a shortcut to my TESV file in the steamapps/skyrim folder on the C: drive. Everything worked fine for three days, but then my husband tried and said it would not boot. Checking the same steamapps folder the entire TESV executable had disappeared. It's not in my recycle bin, either. Why has the game uninstalled / deleted itself? Is this something to do with the upcoming Creation Kit and how do I manage to play now? Why did Steam update Skyrim without permission, anyway? Thanks - D
