I've got he same thing earlier and i my case it is caused by too many mods (guessing). disabling absolutely ANYONE of those fix the issue. Though, i haven't reached esp or record limits.

your load order is limited to 255 by the engine itself, nothing can be done about this EXCEPT to merge mods like you suggested I merged plugins and reduced their count to 171. Was able to squeeze another weapon mod, but after that any other mod again cause CTD after few seconds in main menu. I dunno, searched and found that there is a limit for REFR around 2kk, but i only have 180k in my load order, so not the case. https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/8703508-object-reference-limit/ I give up and consider my mod list finished XD

I have an issue - my game CTDs at main menu after few seconds in it IF add any other mod with esp file. Did i hit some sort of a limit? I have around 124 normal esp/esm files and 318 light ones esl. but, the thing is a lot of my esp files flaged as esl. There are 265 esp files actually right now. Should i just merge some of them to fix that? Current load order is more or less stable. I've got only few crushes through 10 days. ps: sorry for me crappy eng. Should i combine small VIS-G patches? reinstall Qmods - that have solved my issue.
