  1. I have refrained from voting as at this time I don't actually use this - but it is high on my list of "Going To Try" list. My reasons are as follows: I am an avid user of ships and the entire nautical aspect of Oblivion leaves me unimpressed. All of the cities to which water-born traffic SHOULD have access to is shown in miniature or lacking facilities, there are few ships and in vanilla Oblivion you can't even REACH the IC from the sea! For this reason, I use the "Under the sign of the dragon - Tamriel heightmaps " and "Slide's Ships" mods, which together allow me both a selection of ships and the water routes to use them. I am very afraid, based on my experience with other mods that modify the waterfront areas, that the changes in water tables due to the height map mod will render the areas unusable or worse. Not to even mention the total lack of any Empire Navy ships, men or harbors. I am also ex-military, and have commented in other forums on the lack of any viable military in what is supposed to be the heart of a thriving and LARGE Empire. No defenders on key entrances or walls, the countryside littered with masses of abandoned military works and worse, allowing such to become the havens of necromancers, bandits et al jars in every sense my immersion. One of the functions of the castles and town militias should be the defense of AT LEAST the town and surrounding areas, if not as well any vital economic areas for that town's economy. Finally, I use the "Kvatch Rebuilt" mod and have to wonder if your mod changes anything in that area. Can you give me an idea of your thoughts on these?
  2. From comments I pulled by a Google search on this mod, it was an extremely explicit sexual mod. Think XXX rating .... kinda got my interest piqued as to the modelling techniques used.
  3. I'd kinda like something like this as well - in the heat of combat, especially with more than one companion, things can get a tad weird - people running in front of you JUST as you start a swing or release that arrow. And of course there is no time to do the "Yield" thing - too many foes still to kill!
  4. Any decent military, especially one with a large and functioning task in the outer areas (at least Morrowind - four Legions there) would either use the existing infrastructure or raze it to the ground - NOT let it become a sanctuary for the types in them now. I would love a mod that allowed you to rebuild the Legions, and either repair or remove the old forts. It just jars on me - in case it ain't obvious, I am ex-military myself, and an amateur historian on things military since I was ten and discovered De Re Militarii by Vegetius - in 1960!
  5. Just joined this Forum - long time Morrowind player, didn't like Oblivion when it came out (no levitation, horses but no mounted combat - a long list) but now getting back into it for the sake of my grandson - age 10. Before I read this I posted a new topic - my biggest beef on the immersion front is the total lack of a viable military in the center of a supposed mighty empire. Career path in Morrowind - many forts, training, weapons, the whole shebang - Oblivion has abandoned forts that are centers of evil, etc. VERY disappointing, Bethesda. I expected Rome - I got New Jersey ....
  6. Just coming back to Oblivion after many moons - actually, I still prefer Morrowind but my grandson wants to play Oblivion! So as for the question: Supposedly this is a very large, thriving Empire, with legions of regulars and elite troops such as the Blades to boot. Morrowind has such a military - you can even join the faction and work your way up. Lots of thriving forts, personnel, the whole shooting match based loosely on the Roman Empire. So I come to the heart of this empire and find .... EVERY Fort in a ring around the capital of the empire is abandoned and infested with monsters, necromancers and other evil types. Not a single working fort, no garrisons with duties to keep this area clear and safe - in fact, more like the end of Rome with the barbarians all over the place. Merely single guards roaming the roads - and for that matter WHERE are they based? It makes no sense at all. Anyone have any issue with this, or a good lore reason for it? Edit: meds kicking in - that should have been "ruins in the middle of a thriving Empire" in the sub-title....
