Sounds like you either forgot to replace the weapon texture file, or somehow deleted your current one.
-
they can't and won't work together, mainly because they are two mods that do essentially similiar things. Thats like running FOOK2 and FWE...
-
sweet. thanks a lot :D

I recently decided to go back to Fallout 3 and use FWE, so I Decided to install a few other mods as well. Here is my current load order:
The order that the current template suggests is as follows:

fwe(v.5.04)+wmk_weapons_xcalibrified.esp ---------------
(this is slightly different from what my actual load order is. This is moving them around for some odd reason. Anything with a ------------------ are not being used for whatever reason )
The issue i'v run into is, when I go to do the "Alternate Start", I load into a shack and almost immediately my game freezes. I have tried with the regular start, however and it works fine.
Anyone know how I can fix this?
I downloaded the patches and hotfixes so not sure what else to do (:

I want to base my new game file on a having a companion with me at all times, however unless its Fawkes, most seem to die much to fast.
I was hoping for a mod that tags these companions as essential, so they only fall unconscious. HOWEVER. I would like the only way to "revive" these companions to be via multiple stim packs, or whatever item allows it.
I don't want new companions. I only want a mod that does the above.
-
alright, thanks for the quick and helpful replies. a kudos to you (:
-
Awesome!
Thanks a tonne (:
Also. Does projetc beauty work with it? or does Type 3 also change faces and hair?
-
I was wondering if the Type 3 female body replacer mod, replaces EVERY npc in the game with a skimpy outfit and sexy body. If so I don't think I want it, but if it only changes a few, or adds some new npcs that look like that. It will work for me.
Also.
Does this mod ONLY change the bodies, and all clothes and armor stay normal overtop?

I am looking for a mod that adds more people in general to the wasteland. Like, more travellers, caravans, basically anything not hostile. Something to make my next playthrough less... lonely lol.
-
This is something I would like to TRY:: as in I may just give up part way through because i'm not man enough :P. And I am hoping this will make the game much more in-depth for me. While I have beaten Fallout 3 before, I would like to focus a lot more on travel, exploration and general survivability out in the wasteland, not just a "Go here, Do this, Find your dad" sort of thing. I want to be "living in the wasteland, not being out there for 6 full days and finding my dad. So here is a small list, let me know if you know of any mods that can fix them, remove them, or just suggestions you have::
::
- ::No Fast Travel -- I would like to try to find a mod that allows me to find people who can give me those services for a fee, or even my own Fallout 3 style vehicle.
- ::Needing to eat and drink -- This I know comes with FWE, so this I should be fine with
- ::Avoid using the "Wait" option -- I understand it's just to make stuff go by quicker, but I might as well. I will still use sleep however.
- ::Cross-repair -- I would like to beable to repair guns and armor, with other materials. Like scrap metal for assault rifles, wooden objects for stuff like bats, etc. (Any mod for this?)
- ::I would like a more realistic "explosion" mod. Grenades don't seem to do much radius wise, and increasing general explosion radius turn cars into nuclear bombs waiting to be blown up.
- ::I would like more weapon and armors, and I know FWE provides these -- however based on screenshots they look like modern day weapons which really frustrates me. But Im stuck with them.
- ::Maybe having the ability to purchase and//or find backpacks (I don't wanna just START with an amazing one. But maybe one I had in the vault I take with me, lets me carry an extra 5-10wg, and then I can buy better ones later on. (any mods for this, or does FWE come with this?)
- ::I wouldn't mind having a "sleeping bag" to throw up when i'm on my travels. While I should be able to find suitable shelter out there in the wastes from time to time, sometimes I'm just gonna have to grin and bear it. (any mods for this, or does FWE come with this?)
- ::I was hoping for a mod which turns my companions into more "survivable" people which would make them just go "unconscious", and they'd stay that way until I used a certain item, or expended a lot of time waiting for them to recover and get better. Anyone know of any mods for this? Because i'd like to not have to rely on Fawkes to be my only companion who doesn't just go die (:
- ::Was also hoping for a mod which adds more... I don't know, wastelanders or just general travelling NPCs out in the wastes, so I don't feel like the only life out there is trying to kill me and harvest my organs. Anything for this?
- ::Related to the above idea. Maybe more caravans. It would be nice to have the option, depending on my karma, to do business more often or just try to jack some easy supplies. Any mods for this? More guards protecting these would be a plus to.
- ::I'd like some more realistic damage, and FWE also seems to offer it.
- ::I wouldn't mind a mod that let's me wear "regular clothing" over my armor and such, so I could look kinda cool and still be protected.
- ::I'm open for any suggestions and am wondering what mods you guys can suggest for any of the above!
- ::No Fast Travel -- I would like to try to find a mod that allows me to find people who can give me those services for a fee, or even my own Fallout 3 style vehicle.

Usually, any locker that is "owned" or commonly used by an NPC will now and then take stuff from it.
I suggest using GECK or something to add your own lockers//boxes to make sure nothing gets taken.
-
if you guys listen to what NPCs and what is on the Radios in game, you'd realize that from the current date in Fallout 3, the wasteland has been in that state for over 100 years, and according to something said in the game, which seems to contradict real world war and bombing dates, the Nuclear fallout happened 200 years again (from 2077).

Sells Software ONLY for the money?
I think you're looking at EA games on that one.
Newsflash: every game publisher sells software ONLY for money. Capitalist enterprises are not charity organizations that work for the benefit of all, or to uphold some sort of game lore. Developers may love what they do, but at management level, even if some of them love games, the first and foremost consideration is the profit margin, and to look good at the annual shareholders' meeting. When you are a manager, you are not expected to love the product your company produces, you are expected to fill the investors' pocket. If it means dumbing down a game so it is available to a larger group of customers, castrating the developers' vision of how the game should be built, pressing them to finish it sooner than it would be advisable, they will do it. Maybe small companies that are publishers/developers, or companies where the management consists of former developers who have a solid insight into what is going on within their development studios fare better in that regard, but once a holding company, or a giant publisher takes over... I'd say expect the worst, and if they still deliver quality at least you will be pleasantly surprised. Remember, corporate image, publicity, consumer-friendliness... they are just part of the corporate 'sales pitch'.
Agreed, however. There have been instances of game companies doing a game less for money, and more for the fans or what they think.
One instance is Damnation, they lost a huge budget for the game because the developers refused to change certain aspects of the games that the publishers felt would be a good idea.
This ended up losing them a massive foothold to make the game, however they still went along with a smaller-time producer.
Same has happened with other games. Granted, every game company, developer and publisher are in it for some sort of monetary gain, but while that is up top, a lot of developers stand true to the game formost.
EA just keeps pumping out s*** for money.

I'm confused....
Whats a Gammer? Unless you mean Gamer?
And how does you compare Gamers vs Programmers as good mods vs bad mods?
Thanks, Not too good with spelling so I'll go back and fix it. The intent of my entry is the original coding of FO3, I wrote commercial in my entry. As far as I'm concerned anyone who does a "3rd party" mod is excellent and I wouldn't be critical of their mod moslty becasue I know there is a lot of work involved with it. I am critical of someone who "sells" software and does it ONLY for the money. Ya gotta love what ya do.
"I am critical of someone who "sells" software and does it ONLY for the money. Ya gotta love what ya do."
Let's completely ignore the thousands of man hours put into the game.
The release of the G.E.C.K for the sole purpose of the general gaming population of fallout 3, to have access to create, change and remove content of their own game.

I think you're looking at EA games on that one.
And 99% of the best mods out there, are only really good because the mods are nothing other then basic scripting and the use of G.E.C.K.
Granted, some do have a lot of work put into them, such as texture work being done in other programs, rendering work and animation work.
But i'd love to see you make a game with thousands of hours of time put into making it, then go through and pick out every single bug in the game lol.

I know you can have DogMeat and any other follower but uh. I don't think you should be able to have Jericho?

Guys...
This should be in the mod talk section :/
-
Could you run for that long while carrying weapons, wearing clothes and/or heavier pieces of armor, ammo and medial supplies?
I sure as hell couldn't xD

Being a relatively new person to the Fallout 3 modding scene I haven't really been around to knowing/seeing all the mods and modders, however I do think it would be neat to start a community collaborative modding project. While it wouldn't be a completely open-to-everyone concept, I would love to do something through a process of choosing people who'd be right, have the time and experience for doing the project. Once everyone was chosen to help on it, some group setups where we talk about what to actually make or do would be the first process to it, while considering the following:
--Using only existing fallout G.E.C.K content (i'd love to have newer textures made etc for it, but I personally, and not everyone has the experience with G.E.C.K to use, modify and import/export to other programs.
--Adding content, rather then making actual mods for the game, or atleast avoid fullout mod overhauls. Keep it to making quests, creating NPCs, possibly more companions, new towns//cities or even entire new areas (almost like adding a DLC).
Unfortunately this is as far as i'v gotten.
Do you think this is a viable // good idea and if so, how do you think this kind of thing would turn out?

I am not 100% sure what you wanted or how many crates you wanted, but I assumed only a couple unless you were planning to build something out of them but:
http://www.mediafire.com/?xd1vyjb61h3wb51
This added 2 more wooden crates to the shelf. I did however delete some misc. useless stuff added to that shelf space whenever you get themes, etc from Moria, so if you did get them, it wouldn't cause a bug or issue with items being in the same space.
Don't worry however, they were useless items like tin cans, pots and microscopes.
I also added a small metal box in the corner near the stairs for a little extra storage if you wanted it.
Hope this is what you wanted, but i'm still a lowly modder and just getting into understanding how the G.E.C.K really works.
I can remove ALL other cells from the .esp file if you'd like, but I am not 100% sure if that will effect it or not. If someone can give me a note on that i'd be happy to redo the .esp with only the megatonplayerhouse cell.
-
I do not believe you can get any actual game objects outside of G.E.C.K,
However. If you'd like to give me your .ESP file, and a screenshot of what you want and where, I could add those to your .ESP with G.E.C.K and send it back to you.
EDIT: Since it may take you awhile to reply to this, I will just go ahead and make a seperate plugin for you to use. Then you can use a FO3edit to merge your fallout3.esp and the plugin.esp im making.

I love Paradise Falls haha.
My first playthrough I decided to be a
slaver
And ya, i'm already dreading the energy weapon ammo. Not only does is cost so much, energy weapons in the start of the game are super weak, so I am praying I get enough money together to get the Rock-It launcher so I can use that as my main weapon, as I build up my energy weapons arsenal and ammo counts.
As for the hair, I found a few mods for hair but, they aren't really in the style I wanted so I went with a female.
Anything more scary then a crazy *censored* with big guns and a PPI trigger mechanism? xD
-
My tactics seem to be very baseline compared to everyone elses.
Grenades into groups of 2+
Rockets into groups of 4+
Energy rifle for single
Flamer for multiple small weak wildlife and monsters.
mini nuke for overlords.
Im playing simple on this playthrough. A big guy, with big guns, and lots of ammo to waste.

What do you think of this playthrough Idea?
