  1. When I hear "build" I immediately think back to hours and hours perfect my barbarian build in diablo 2...good times.

Anyway, I like the second one better personally. I woul change the big guns to small guns. The big guns never seem to be realistic or effective. 5.56 and 10mm with an occasional .308 is more than enough to rid the wasteland of pretty much any living thing, except maybe a behemoth. lol

Btw the name "Brick" and the makeup of the character wouldnt happen to be a shoutout to the the character in borderlands would it?

    Goodcall on borderlands bahaha.

I do agree I also like the second one more, however I am not to fond of Small Guns when using Power Armor. To me it not only feels clunky and awkward, but having this tiny pistol on my hip when im wearing a 400 pound suit of armor seems wrong xD.

It's also a reason I decided to go into Energy Weapons however. (: With the energy weapons as my "small guns" and later as my big gattling laser, I should be good for that. I do miss having my small guns early on, but I keep finding it hard to try to remake my playthrough the same as my original character. I'v been trying to actually add small guns into the tag list but, I end up having to sacrifice way to much in the way of what I want my characters persona to be. Which is carrying huge weapons of massive ultra destruction. Fat Man'ing Paradise falls anyone? lmao.

But if you got suggestions on how I can get small guns in there, im open for suggestions (:

Also, if you know of and MALE (SO SICK OF FEMALE ONLY TEXTURES) that give more hairstyles i'd be indepted. I want a guy character for Brick, however the bad ass haircut *Fallen Angel I think* is only females :(

  2. I have two final builds I want to use for two seperate characters, kind of on opposite sides of the karmatic spectrum. The first is a female assassin, and the other is a man-bruting muscle head who just tries to do the right thing (tries).

The Assassin Jacqueline, A.K.A The Jackal

    S.P.E.C.I.A.L

After the traumatic vault experience with someone she considered family being murdered, Jenna takes her anger out on all

the vault dwellers, murdering and ransacking her once home before setting out. With a final farewall to Amata, her bitter words

against her, and her family set her new life in the Wasteland. She soon finds out, if she couldn't trust people from the vault,

she couldn't trust anyone, and so she sets out to find her father, only looking out for herself, doing whatever nessecary to

to keep herself alive and well.

The Bruting Manly Man Kailen, A.K.A Brick:

    Energy Weapons

    (4th melee or speech)

During the commotion in the Vault, he came to terms with the events that occured, and while confused and angry, he

decided retaliation would only further cause more pain, especially to Amata. Refusing her request for the gun, he charged

his way through security with a baseball bat and heated emotions. Leaving with causing as little harm as possible, he soon

found himself abroad in the wastelands, trying to survive. Being the son he knew his father was proud of, he did his share to

help people, and as well destroying anyone who dared try to interfere with his search for his father.

Sorry for the backstories, but i like making them for my characters.

What do you think of the builds, and what would you guys do differently for them?

  3. For future reference, anytime you type anything with a spoiler, you put the sentence or containing paragraph into [spoiler/ [ /spoiler].

Just telling people there are spoilers don't always work.

Your image for one immediately grabs the eye before anything else, which could be avoided using the spoiler tag. (:

  4. I actually haven't had any issues with hardware or software gamewise.

Any issues I ran into were due to mods, usually missing a master file or compatability issues.

Running an MSi motherboard, Intel Core i5 and 4 gigs of ram, using ATI HD 3850, no SLI (until further notice)., Creative Audigy2 zs sound card, 5.1 Logitech speakers, Razor Lycosa Mous and Saitek keyboard.

  5. Ahh, My first trip through I was a SOB. I was heavy into speech, sneak, lockpick and explosives.

I really really like a lot of points in speech. I think it opens up many things otherwise not possible. I was able to accomplish many things in game just by lying and manipulating people all the time :D

I stole everything and killed everyone. I had groups of hired killers looking for me all game after I was branded as super villan (I forgot what it was in game) but they had some bad names for me, lol

If people talked to me in the wrong tone they died. If they had things I wanted they died. I would take a quest to help a certain group like the ghouls and then take another quest to clear them out.

I killed the overseer, the sherrif in Megaton, Moira, and numerous other main characters in the game. LOL Moira's voice got to me. She was so sweet syrup leaked out of her. I did the town a favor :D

Towards the end it was tough, I could not show my face in a lot of places without getting attacked. lololo

    Good Times !

That was a lot like mine. Heavy speech I think add's such an RPG depth to the game, lets you use other options, can make stuff easier, funner and even funnier.

I had lockpick as well, and ended up killing everyone in Tenpenny tower because I couldn't get into their "merchandise" chests haha.

  6. My first playthrough which had to end half way through was a female who was in grief over what the Overseer and his croonies did in the Vault. She lost all trust, and when she got out into the Wasteland, soon learned how to look out for herself. I had walked into SpringVale and found that "used-to-be hooker" and

Through speech got her to give me 400 caps.

This started her off on a path where she was a sneaky, trouble maker who used black widow to manipulate people to get what she wanted and took what she couldn't get through her fem-fatale attitude.

She turned into a shoot-first small guns user who picked locks and conned people, and eventually into a murderer and slaver. It was fun :D

My next playthrough I think will be a sneaky assassin, whose got a similar attitude. :D sneak, explosives and lock picking I think

  7. I'v actually done the same recently, however my new MSI P55A-G55 SLI CrossFireX Motherboard and Intel Core i5 760 Quad Core Processor and 16gigs of ram are in the mail. Should be here Friday and im SOO psyched to make a new file and run through this game with EVERYTHING maxed and NO latency or lag issues.

Son of a beesting! Am I behind the times or does 16 gigs sound like a lot o' ram? You could probably make a ram drive outta that baby and install FO3 right on it. lol Now as soon as your comp loses power youre screwed, but hey, would be fun to say ya did it. lol

Lmao. Well ya, 16gigs is a lot, but the main thing is because I got 16, it was cheaper then buying two seperate 8gig sets so. I decided to go overboard haha. I cant wait.

  8. You should def go through the main quest. There are a few moments of true epic-ness that you dont wanna miss. Especially if you have the Broken Steel dlc. Personally I do prefer the "light up the room and kill em all" tactic but Ive also played through counting bullets and conserving everything kind of Resident Evil style and it was a blast also. As far as the s.p.e.c.i.a.l. goes I wanna try a playthrough with no Luck. That would be interesting. I usually OD on the luck cause I think it helps out a lot, especially with my fav perk, mysterious stranger. :D

Or, if you havent played through killin all the good guys and racking up massive amounts of bad karma, thats always fun.

Well i'v played through twice, got the main quest to the same spot cause I end up forgetting about it cause I love exploring.

My first character was pure evil. Killed almost every single person I couldn't benefit from. And even then sometimes killed other people.

And i don't think I would like to play without luck, because I rely on those critical hits a lot lol.

  9. I have decided to start a new play through due to a few certain reasons, and have not previously beaten the game or even touched that heavily on the main storyline.

Since I am getting a new Intel core i5 and MSi Crossfire motherboard with it, and 16gb DDR3, I wanted to start fresh with awesome graphics, so I am wondering on what play style I should do. Typically I play a lock-n-load walk in and just light the room up and kill off everything, Rinse and repeat.

While it's fun and all, I am always open to new gameplay styles and variety. So I am looking for your suggestions with SPECIAL, TAGs and whatnot.

  10. Well so far my favorite moment has been

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

During the Power of Atom quest (I believe it's called) you have the option to blow Megaton up or disarm it.

I decided to blow it up, and when I went back to Megaton, I found out Moria had been turned into a Ghoul. That ALONE made it all worthwhile for me, but it got better.

One of the conversation options, or close to it was:

Uh, no offense Moria, but you got real ugly, real fast

Made me laugh for a good 25 minutes.

Any other moments seem to pale in comparison to that. But I suppose finding Dogmeat on my first playthrough was really awesome. I never read trailers or release details for games, so I never knew about companions. But when I found him, I was so happy. I love dogs and I thought this was so neat. And I was so worried he would die, I put him in my house in Megaton and kept him there haha.

  11. as i said, yes, i used the archive invalidation available in FOMM.

i have the Game of the Year edition that includes all DLC packs.

and, i understand that a missing master file will cause crashes. however, as i've now tried each mod individually and not a single one works, i find it hard to believe that i somehow visited each mod's webpage but managed to not download the necessary files every single time. as i said, my load order is EXACTLY THE SAME as the example load order as shown on the FOIP page. i literally went down the list, one .esp/.esm at a time, matching my load order to the example.

either way, a missing master file hardly explains how, even after removing all the mod content from the Data folder, the vanilla base game is now crashing in exactly the same manner.

Well I personally find the AchiveInvalidation in FoMM to be garbage but ok.

Well your either missing a master file, which disabling mods might not fix, since for all you know adding a mod may of deleted, moved or changed a file.

If it's got absolutely nothing with your mods and you must be perfect compared to everyone else to completely dismiss that, than it's something to do with hardware.

Your best bet is to do a re-install of the game.

  12. Thanks for the ideas ninjafish.

    1) Task manager suggests the memory is actually used

    2) ...mmh, the only difference to last year is a new firewall, but it's in "Game mode". Maybe I'll try it again with my old firewall.

    3) Tried a re-install to no avail. I might also try to install the non-GOTY version to test, but I wanted to play the DLCs

    4) Probably the main culprit... and yes it's 7 years old (Everything I worked with was fine so far... until there came 6-7 Fallout 3 NPCs). However, I had no problems with my last playthrough. Probably I used less NPC adding mods. It's somewhat hard to imagine that a few NPCs can take up that much performance... I still use this old computer to re-calculate 3D geophysical data with very good performance. We also got some SP 3200+ unused somewhere here, maybe I'll try exchanging the cpu.

I guess it is the motherboard and processor, which are not sufficient for many NPCs...

Any other ideas how to improve NPC related performance? (If not guess I have to live with unpopulated wastelands, whcih is undesirable)

Ya it will probably have something to do with your motherboard, and im AMAZED you can even RUN Fallout 3 with Direct x8... im baffled it runs lol.

The only real fix I could possibly imagine is dropping textures, draw distance, and anti-aliasing down to low and off.

Other than that... you need an upgrade lol

  13. I have just created a plugin. I have it on my Data Files, so I check it. When I play the game nothing happens. Even when I bring up the console and type in: COC plugin. Also, when I check my plugin in Data Files and exit the Data Files and I go back to the data files it is not checked. If you guys could please help, that would be great. Thank you!

    Do not type coc "pluginname"

For the first tutorial, the name of your has a name such as "Vault74a" so you'd type coc Vault74a

So just make sure you're typing in the name of the actual cell in which you want to go to, because a plugin could send you to billiions of areas i the game. Remember the plugin contains ALL the games files basically.

    Hope this helped!

  14. Could be a few things technical-based:

1)Memory leak, which is causing your computer to only use a gig or 2 total of RAM

2)Something on your computer is taking up a massive amount of resources. I'v seen firefox hog a good 60% of my memory before so I ditched it for google chrome

3)Could be a corrupt or bad game install

4)Your motherboard... that Atholon XP 2600 is like... oh jesus. 6 years old? And it only supports Direct X8. Odds are its this one.

  15. Hello, I was hoping someone on the message board could help me with my issue here. I just came across the Nexus and thought that putting on a few mods would be pretty cool. SO I already have installed the Enclave Commander mod when I decided to download the Apoc Armory. But in the description of that mod it says that I would have to manually go in turn the Archiveinvaldition script to a different setting, however it suggested dowloading the Archive activator (http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=944) and mod manager. When I downloaded the activator and used it, Fallout 3 started to crash on startup. Something it hasn't done in a while. (When I first got it I had to download a patch to get it to work at all.) I'm wondering if the Archive activator or even the Mod Manager somehow messed with the game to cause it to stop working or if either one somehow deactivated the patch.

    Thanks for any help.

I assume, and hope you have FoMM.

Go into FoMM and click on all your addon's and check to make sure the master file is in the list and turned on.

99% of my game crashes with mods are due to missing a master file, or two mods have a major conflict with eachother. I do not know of any compatability patches for those however.

If all else fails, uninstall all you're addons, and reinstall them.

(Also on a side note, I used to use apoc armory, but I stopped due to it causing some issues. If you ever want to stop using it, you may need a new save, because every NPC in the game will be walking around with pool cues out).

Also, a lot of the items are "false" damage values on the weapon, so it's hard to tell what does what.

Thanks, I do have FoMM I learned that lesson early.

But I did what you told me, and I unclicked APOC armory, and lo and behold it works again. So maybe there are some conflict errors with the APOC mod and some master files. Thanks for your help.

The crash is usually caused by either a conflict or a missing master files

You can check online for any compatability patches to install if you want to use APOC.

  17. I'v heard a lot of conflicts people are running into are due to the unofficial patch running with multiple mods going.

And having FOOK2 and FoWE is uh... kind of an issue I think? Don't remember seeing a FOIP hotfix to those but I could be mistaken, since both of those mods pretty heavily change EVERYTHING in the game lol.

kkkk.... It's strange because the two are working fine together.

    Are you using FOOK2 RC v1.0 or FOOK2 v1.1 beta 2?
