  1. ok, so i just reinstalled New Vegas. i got bored and decided that i wanted to play it. it was a totally clean install, and everything seemed to be going well, until i acquired the elite ranger combat armor. i noticed that the armor was clipping through my pip boy. i have no mods that alter either one, and the mods i do have are Weapon Speed Penalty, and Armor Speed Penalty remover mods. that's it. i have all the DLC's, and the game is fully updated. this seems to be the only real issue i have with the game, other than some minor glitches that i don't think anyone cares to try and fix. anyway, i couldn't find any mods or patches to fix this, or even one person who mentioned it. i literally spent hours trying to google it, searching forums everywhere, looking for pictures, etc. i don't know why this happens, and i'm sure some people don't even notice it or give a crap about it. still, i see plenty of in-game pics and the armor IS NOT clipping through their pip boy. so, i need some frickin help. i don't know if i'm just a moron who wasn't able to figure this problem out, or if someone had fixed it and i'm just not seeing it, or what. any ideas?
  2. well, i guess it started after the 1.5 update. i had installed the update, and played the game with complete success (love the new kill cams.) then i started to get the "green water" bug. i downloaded the mod for that, then it was gone. a few days went by, and it came back. i uninstalled the mod, and the game wouldn't run anymore. so, i did a clean sweep, totally removing all traces of Skyrim. the i reinstalled it, updated it, and everything was fine. then the green water came back, so i changed the "bDoDepthOfField" to =0; FIXED THE GREEN WATER (though some say their water looks worse than usual after said fix, which isn't the case for me.) then i played the game, turned it off, went to bed, then got up the next day and tried to play it, and CTD. right as i was loading my save. i tried to start a new game, but still CTD. reinstalled everything, reactivated all mods, and the game was fine. then last night, i tried to activate "My Kind Of Hair", and the SAME CTD, as i was loading a save. tried a new game, still the same. took out the mod, removing all the files i added, and still CTD. I WENT AND TOOK COPIES OF MY SKYRIM FOLDER CONTENTS WHICH I BACKED UP IN CASE IT HAPPENED AGAIN, OVERWRITING ALL THE CONTENTS OF MY GAME (the game exe. and the entire data folder, along with the .ini files) and now my game works. what i'm afraid of is, every time i add new mods, my game will, for some reason, stop working. that's pretty annoying. it's not the "mod conflict" CTD, i tested that a little while ago, trying to add "Momo Acribatic Jump". i started to think my NMM was the cause, but i can't seem to find any reason this would happen. i hear the 1.5 patch has caused a few issues for people, but nothing like this. if i take my copied files and overwrite them after the crashes, my game works again. i'm totally stumped. i activated my old mods from before the issue, and nothing changed. but anything like"My Kind Of Hair", "Green Water Fix", or "Momo Acrobatic Jump", suddenly causes CTD on loading an existing save or starting a new game. i tried reset Archive Invalidation and reset UI (mostly because i tried everything OTHER than overwriting my files) which didn't work. i don't know what happened to the Data folder or the .ini settings that could cause this, or why an overwrite would fix it. any ideas on WTF is going on here?
  3. alright, so i'm tired of upgrading my computer (i.e. building a new one) and New Vegas still crashes. i mean, it would crash before the new patch, but it seemed like it was smooth sailing until i added some mods. so, you'd figure that by taking away those mods, it would all be better. but it is i who should've known better. so, after a clean install with no mods, i see that it's running well for a while, and then, i find a few towns on my map and suddenly it freezes. not CTD, but just like i was trying to play on a desktop i used in high school in 2000. everything was just stuck, and of course i get a "not responding" note in the task manager. how is this better? WTF kind of patch promises stability and doesn't deliver? there's nothing wrong with my comp, or my setup. i even disabled overclocking and it's still garbage. i really just started this topic to complain about New Vegas, since i couldn't find anybody who's game wasn't freezing, just CTD. i'm glad it's not CTD, but come on, this is getting really old. next time i buy a game, it'll be a year after release so they can actually work out the kinks BEFORE i own it. Bethesda, you should be ashamed; but even more, i am ashamed of myself for thinking having a descent computer would really fix crap like this.
