  1. So, as the name implies, you meet a master enchanter at a bar, and want to get some training, but its too costly. He runs a shop for custom enchantments. You get to do the work, he gives you a pointer here and there, provides some, but not all of the materials, and you do the work. But the Customers! They always tell you their life story while ordering an enchant, and before you know it, you're off again to the spot marked X on the map, or the old ruins, or the special creature that has Filled Black soul gems in its Gizzard. Just an Idea.... -
  2. That actually solved my problem, the script compiles perfectly now. Even though reinstalling SKSE using the installer didn't have any effect, downloading the SKSE archive and manually updating 'game.psc' turned out to be the solution. Thanks, god of abominations, I appreciate it. Can't believe I missed the fact that there's already a German translation out there. I'm very happy with mine and will still use it though, and I'll upload it if the other translator stops maintaining his version. In any case I've learned much from this. Thanks again to everyone who offered advice. The dreaded [ Source\ski_widgetmanager.psc(29,1): RegisterForModEvent is not a function or does not exist ] Skyrim Bug is solved. In short, the SKSE *.exe installer looks at he date of the script files, and doesn't install if of the same date. This is probably a convienence for the SKSE developers, so they don't have to wait for a full install file transfer time when testing a small change to just a few files. So, If you've been fighting the problem, and just re-installed, the Skyrim game, then SkyUI, some of the files which should be overwritten with SKSE versions are not, and hence it cannot find the handles fo rhte ResisterForMenu or RegisterFor******! So, download the Archieve version of the file, and manually copy and paste the Script files, both *.pex, and source *.psc into the Skyrim/Data/Scripts folder, and everything will start working again. I was so frustrated with this problem, that until I came across this post I had devolved into: Drinking Whiskey Kicking the Dog Pounding on the keyboard until I got blood and plastic shards Searching for hard drugs Screaming at the sky and contemplating using nuclear weapons on innocent cities in utter frustration!   3. You could also create the inverse plot line positions. i.e. Hired by the Vampire clans to act as a guard and protector of a lair, killing vampire hunters during the day, when they are weak. Escort a Wagon with the cargo of coffins shrounded in tarps, from one underground lair to another, stopping the attacks of the Vigilants of Stendar bent of killing the coven. Act as an Assassin, killing one clan of Vampires at the request of another clan of vampires who want the territory and cattle therein. -
  4. A decent "Monster Hunting" mod would include a plot element where after a dozen kills within a given creature line, a reputation would be established. This would result in two things: 1] People would come to the player to hire the riddance of particular instances of said monster type. 2] Arch-Type of the Monster breed would begin to Hunt the Player. I can imagine that Hunting a Haunting Dragur Lord, only to become engaged about the time a Vampire Lord hunting you begins his attack might be .... .Interesting. -
  5. One of the Mods of my IC project is just what you outline, though the effort is to make both better bows, but also many more very weak and un-reliable ones. They will all be craftable, starting with elements that can be found in the wilde, but only for very limited bows. Anyone who has read accounts of medeval archery understand the effect that wet weather played on the technology available. Keeping your bow string dry was every bit as important as keeping later eras gunpowder dry. The cat cut strings would quickly stretch if wet, and become useless until thoroughly dried. If the bow was strung when the string got wet, you'd be lucky to un-string the bow fast enough to save the string. Blocking an edged weapon strike with a bow stave would likely place gouges into the limbs rendering the bow more likely than not to split on the next draw. For game balance, if bows are given more variety, options and power, there would need to be balancing limitations on them. In the Game "Thief" the more powerful the bow, the faster it would burn the endurance of the weilder when held drawn. After a few seconds of hold back, the aim would begin to uncontrolably wobble and eventually relax. I have plans for a type of Soul Gem fragment headed arrow which can be "OverCharged". On impact, it explodes in a mix of fire, arcs, and force. But if you OverCharge the gem a tad too much, it explodes in your face, destroying the bow, and blasting the archer. Experience, Perks and skill would allow the user to more accurately predict the strain points, but such work would ever be dangerous. And then it takes a special kind of Magicka, Manna, to load the gems, which can only be gained though special Land-Bonds, Power Points, or Bonds with Vassal Mages. In short, I'm working on such a mod, but it will be months for completion. -
  6. So I downloaded and ran the above mod... Not bad at all, and a nice framework to some of the scripts. But not anywhere near as Lore Accurate or Complete as I was Hoping for. The system doesn't seem to have much affect on the world other than just varying prices on certain days. Well, that's a start, but not the end point I was hoping for, so I've decided to re-work and greatly expand the list of dates to include seaonal weather, animal behaviors, minor traditions and frequent activities.   7. So there is special software used for creation of an original mesh -> Texture file, where you used the 3d moddling engine to "Air Gun" spray paint an initial planar texture file. The paint not only "Sticks" just to the areas of the *.dds or *.jpg file tha corresponds in the game engine to the various parts of the *.nif mesh, but the special soft ware also generates the *.XYZ_MSN, *.XYZ_SK and *.XYZ_S files which define things like reflectiveness, transparency and vertex normals for the object. Without those files being generated by someone using the 3d moddling engine, you cannot "modify" the Texture files to create a new appearing mesh. We see lots of new Textures in Skryim/Oblivion/Morrowind mods, because once that standard files exist, it is fairly easy to change tint/colors/ or picture textures for all or parts of an object. But without these essential starter files, it is a much more difficult process. I know a small amount of what is required, basically a copy of 3DS studio, or at least the freeware moddling tool milkshake, and the extenstions which allow the importation and exportation of the *.NIF file format, and the specialized software and export tools for the "Spray Gun" and Normal Vector Image generator. I do not own such, and it would cost around $2500 to get it. If you don't get allot of positive response to this request, it is because of the costs.
  8. Ask Richard Pryor... Seriously, this is a cool Idea, though I'd make it with some draw backs, like you burn up anything worn or held when it is cast, and you cannot touch anything, including looting, without setting it ablaze.
  9. So I am consisering making this mod, as one custom element of my Immersion Compilation, to fill a missing element need. Essentially, while the Skyrim Nude bodies have achieved much attention, and the eye candy is appreciated, lets be honest, most of the time spent playing, your followers and NPCs will be wearing some kind of Armor or Clothes. There are lots of cool mods out there with very nice clothes and armor adds to the game, but we never see the NPCs and seldom see the followers wearing it. So, if I can't find this mod, I'll have to create it! Essentially, define various Modes_of_Attire defined by a Global Variable, appropriate to each major zone and one for nearby the Player. Example Modes: 00 Casual 01 WorkDay 02 Festival 03 Court 04 Sexy 05 Sleeping 06 Bathing/Swimming 07 GuardDuty 08 Cold Weather 09 Sneak 10 Hunting 11 Mining 12 HeavyCombat Global Event tracking triggers will change the Mode, and the NPCs and Followers will then, Not all at once, but a few at a time based on assigned phasing, will change their attire, playing a small don/doft animation. There must be Global tracking variables already, since the Skyrim music changes to match the action. Each Follower and NPC will have an indexed list of possible Combinations of Armor/Clothes, Boots, Gloves, Cloak, Helm, Weapon and offhand, which they pick based on the Mode of the Area. So until the conflict starts, people wear appropriate outfits, showing off all that nice immersion generating gear. I have no desire at all to re-invent the wheel, so if this mod is out there, please let me know. P.S. Merry Christmas!

  11. I am working on a version of this concept. Call it the Libertarian third option way out of the civil war. In my scenario, you meet in taverns a number of unhappy nords and dark elf refugees, who don't really want to side with either the Imperials/Thalmore, nor want to side with Ulfric and the Nord Storm cloaks... LEAVE US OUT OF IT! So, with many small quests, you will gather a following, sign into a colonizaiton pact, and begin gathering supplies, materials and people along the northern shores. Several of these small quests can, but does not have to, align the colony effort with one or several Daedric Gods, who provide special magic options for establishing your colony ( more below ). But choosing this option has consequences, in that if you do so, you will bring in the ire of another opposing faction, the Vigilents of Stendar! You have to keep the build up hidden from the other factions, because they certainly do not want an unaligned third party! You will have the option of conceeding to align your colony with either the Imperials/Thalmore, or the StormCloaks. But that means that the other side is now totally out to destroy the colony efforts. So you build one or more ( player strategy choices that matter ) long ships. When all ready, you and your group of 10-100 colonist embark on a grand sea voyage. At this point the game becomes a fleet of long ships sailing through ice flows, surviving storms and battling Horker swarms and sea dragons. If you survive the voyage, and depending on how much time you spend traveling into the north, you end up at one of three options: A] Short voyage to the North - Barren Ice and Rock Isle, with an ability to carve out a frozen rock fortress base for harvesting Fish, Horkers and Whales ( and their oil ) for sale to the southern holds. This is the Trader version, where maintaining good relations with at least one of the southern holds is needed, and avoid customs ships and pirates is the nature of the subsequent games. B] Long voyage to the North - Over the polar cap ice flows and down into warmer climes on the far side of the world, onto a new, lush, warm, green Island where you can carve farms, fields, hunting grounds and grazing meadows out of a wilderness filled with fearsome beasts and Falmer tribes. This option means you leave all contact with the old holds of Skyrim and its civil war behind, to face life in the wildes of the new world. C] Medium voyage to the shores of the Polar continent, and a lengthy foot / riding trudge through extreme Ice and Rock to a Central Mountain Range of the North Pole. Here you find a Vast, Ice Filled, Glacier Cavern under the mountain. With the aid of the Daedric Gods magic, you can call up a lower cavern Lava Lake to melt the ice and warm the cavern. In a separate quest, you will venture deep into the Falmer Underworld to retrieve one or more special magical crystal Sun-Stones, which can be blessed by the Daedric Gods into sources of plant growing light for your caverns. Other quests allow the generation of rich soils and the calling forth of sweet water springs to flow winding creeks through your caverns. Still other quests allow you to retrieve magical standing stones which embue your cavern with seeds of trees, grass, shrubs, or a fauna version with springs to life trout, salmon, rabbits, goats, deer, elk, wolves and saber cats... Thus the third option allows you to make an underground microcosm Shangrila escape from the woes and conflicts of the civil war in skyrim, though the Stendars fanatics will try to destroy it, and the Falmer will not leave it in peace either. Anyway, that is my plans for a new mod series similar to what you are describing.

My suggestion is that you do not delete the saves, but rather make it so that death causes previous saves to be edited to remove certain types of progress toward goals and already achieved equipment. Delete the enchantments off of a random half of the player's gear. Delete all progress toward the next level. Delete the progress made toward building the next phase of their house. Delete some of the players stats and/or perks. (similar to jail time) Randomly cause one or more followers to simply wander off. This would provide consequences to death, short of having to start all over again. Also, it would not be accomplished by editing the saves themselves, but having a store of what changes to make, stored outside the game in a support text file, via a mod driven script, which affects ANY save game reloaded. -
  13. So it really requires a bit more than just a specialty race with a body mesh including baby bump in the belly. You need clothing for the Preggo woman which is debilitating role appropriate. Which is to say, even though the "Strong Nord Woman" may be able to wear her armor and go into battle in the first 5 months of Preggo, in the last four months, she's likely to wear only cloth, and then it will be, at least at the last, at a slow, waddling gate. It is only in those last four months that you even need to have a Preggo Mod. So you need new animation files to reflect the slow and cumbersome movement mod, just as some mod emphasize a young, lethe, sexy walk. Additionally, you'd need a animation and variant of the shield to act the new born babe being carried in one arm. There should be a static object with sound effects and scripts for the Babe, along with a Bassenette ( variant of a basket combined with a small table ) in which the child is placed when not being handled. There should also be mini-children, with animations of a clumsy walk, to act as toddlers and young children. Skyrim, as it stands, only makes a passing stab at showing real family life in the game. I understand WHY Bethesda did it. Resources, time, complexity, and not enough payback, because most players just don't give a damn. I'd am working on a mod to do all of the above, since I could not find one. The mod is targeted at being one of the custom mods added to my Immersion Compilation Project, where I screen and test a collection of mods for a complete and seamless Immersion experience. The Preggo aspect is important in my mod series, because you are playing the role of Thane->Jarl who is founding a new Hold up in the isles of the frozen north. The Jarls of the lower holds, and possibly the Empire and Vigilents of Stendar, are all trying to kill you and your wive(s) and children, to prevent your creating a dynasty which threatens them. The player defending the Preggo Wive(s) and Children's Creche are a very important part of the plot line and motivating emotions behind it. So, in short, I am working on such a mod, which will be "modular" and could be used outside of the Immersion Compliation Project I am creating.

  15. Wouldn't you need to have a full cycle of the event? In other words, too much drink in the tavern, and argument over a woman, a drunken brawl in which an innocent is killed, and then a Jarl's court hearing and judgement, then the execution? In my opinion, there is great opportunity for Immersion RP material in all of that, but the execution itself is the least part, and full animation of the beheading is really not even needed. You could simply elude to the event taking place, with any need to witness it. From a modding tech stand point, it can be done in the existing tools of the creation kit, and is not even that difficult to setup. About 10 hours work I estimate. I may take some time to setup a "Crime and Punishment" mod, assuming my next step, searching thoroughly for one, doesn't find it has already been done. P.S. There already is a "Crime and Punishment" mod, but it is currently taken down by the author. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/20922/? The author probably used some meshes or artwork which he did not have permission to use, and is being sued. Sad. As a Modder, it keeps me from ever releasing most of the mods I make. Its not that I deliberately use other people's work in violation, it is just easy to do accidentally, and the costs are too high to even consider taking the chance. Creating this mod might take 10 hours. Insuring that every single issue of copyrights has been addressed with only low probability of mistake, would take 100 hours. -

It may have been the stirrings of the Skyrim MMO which led to these variables being abandoned. As global variables, they are linked to a game at a level outisde of the factors held by an individual player character, so in a MMO, the whole system would have to be scrapped, and redone with variables targeted and attached to a player character. The karma system may have been attached to the player in the same way that the number of absorbed dragon souls is tracked, and we just do not have any documentation about those new-cast variables. Clearly there are many things happening in a running edition of Skyrim that are not visable and adjustable from the creation kit. -

What is really needed is Cycles, where these type of events/quests periodically re-spawn, with different players in the various roles, but the same basic plot elements replaying. As long as there are many of them, and the denounment time delays are all set to varied periods, they will inherently begin to play off against each other in a great "weave" of pattern complexity. You could easily make a list / group of standard human failings / trials plot lines, and set them up with a list of possible role players, and then trigger them randomly. Immersion endless replayability. -
  19. Thanks for the heads up on that mod, I do not have time to re-invent the wheel. I've loaded the mod you suggested, it seems to be compatible with my 100+ other immersion mod compilation, I'll have to play it for a bit to see if it gets the task done. At least it wasn't a crash creator. This type of immersion mod designed to provide social interaction and cohesion has to be done subtley to work well. This is something that Bethesda has a real talent for, but many of the Fan Mods are rather clumsy about. If the Emporer's Birthday was done with the craft of a witty Shakespear double entendre, and not the silly, garish bravado of Dr. Zeus children's morality tale, I will be pleased. -
