its a tie between TES4 and the S.T.A.L.K.E.R games. Mass Effect 2 is biting at their heels, though.

  1. Hail, good knights. How fare thee? I tried to install a mod called Improved Fires (by hlvr) cause I saw it recently and thought it would greatly add to the immersion factor of my TES4 installation. First, I gave the OMOD a shot. After activating, the game would CTD with no error - not even getting to the main menu, not showing the BethSoft intro, nothing. Just a black screen for 2 seconds then it disappears. Then I tried the regular .esp format - same issue. Whenever the mod is active, TES4 refuses to run. I have had this issue before with two mods only - Cernasite's Dragon Eyes, and also his Oracle Eyes. And I didn't manage to figure what caused it - without those mods enabled, my Oblivion installation runs just fine (heavily modded although). I have a claen original GOTY copy patched to 1.2.416 and with KoTN and SI. Any help would be greatly appreciated. May the Nine Divines watch over you!
  2. No. I will try it immediately. EDIT: Nope, it didn't work. I had some doubts actually, since what I'm experiencing now isn't a crash caused by Oblivion, but by external factors. Oh well :( Thanks anyways. Back to looking for a cure...
  3. Virus scan did not detect anything. I tried starting a new game and it loaded through perfectly, I even saw the face of our beloved Emperor. Several attempts at loading savegames have all failed, with the laoding bar freezing either 1/2 or 3/4 through, then CTD-ing with the above-mentioned error. I still believe it's something to do with that darned Robert's Male Body V4. I've NEVER had such issues with any other mods before. Never got a crash caused by something other than Oblivion itself. And now I have no idea how to fix it. A 3-year-old character and hundreds of hours of play screwed over by one little mod... Isn't life delightfully sadistic sometimes? Also, all other games work just fine. Any ideas? Isn't it odd that people are so quick to blame one mod, one mod that has been used successfully for years by literally thousands upon thousands of satisfied people. I can tell you now: Robert's Male body replacer does not cause fatal STOP errors, nor does it cause any other kind of CTD if installed correctly. If the errors only occur with previous saved games, then something is clearly amiss between your current setup and those saved games -- they may be corrupt, or maybe trying to load different versions of master files, etc. Sorry if I got too carried... I'm just terribly pe'ed off at the current situation. I've dodged tens if not hundreds of the proverbial bullets with all the mods I've had, and I've always fixed them. Many times it was just the process of removing that mod that brought the situation back to normal. RMB v3.7 worked perfectly for me for two whole years, then for some reason I decided to update to v4 - and that probably killed my savegames o_O Every modded Oblivion installation is unique in itself as to how it is structured and where its weaknesses are, that's true. But I can't blame my installation - it's taken hundreds upon hundreds of mods, most worked, some didn't, problems were relatively easily fixed. It's always been taken care of and made sure it's at its best. So it's quite obvious I am pretty aggravated when my Oblivion works PERFECTLY with RMB v3.7 and 10 minutes later, it turns out RMB v4 fully and utterly killed my game. I don't take it lightly when a mod screws over my installation so badly, it doesn't recover even after I remove the offender. And this error is definitely NOT like all my previous errors, where it was just Oblivion tripping on its own shoelaces. This is a much bigger issue here, something I haven't ran into before, and something I don't know how to resolve. I had just taken my Oblivion experience to new levels with UL, Better Cities, Deserts of Anequina, OBGE v2, and several other mods that made the game exponentially better. Now I stare at loading screens that freeze, and at errors that indicate some serious trouble. So yes, the prospect of losing my character and the time I put in him is strongly unpleasant and distracting. :(

  5. I checked my DEP settings, and it's set to "essential Windows programs only". I'll go ahead and run an Error Check on my drive, defrag it, and scan for viruses. I'll start checking out all my other games, to see if there's any similar problem. EDIT: CHKDSK did not solve situation. Other games playing normally. I'll see if I have time to do a virus scan.
  6. You know, if you fry ham in a pan you get something similar to bacon. But it's pink, mundane, boring bacon. Green ham makes weird, unusual, fantastic, desirable bacon.
  7. Ban Sonny B for having Post Number 2620714. I don't like the number 2620714.
  8. Niko and Roman Bellic Mario John 117 and R'Tas Vadum John Shepard (coincidence? Both save the Universe...), Tali'Zorah Vas Normandy, Garrus Vakarian Artyom Strelok Gaz and Captain Price Viktor Reznov
  9. My Top 10 (more like 15, but meh.) 1) GTA3, GTA Vice City, GTA San Andreas - this game gave me my musical education; without it, I would have never got a taste of rock, classic hip-hop, funk, disco, dance, metal... In general, I would have missed out on the ENTIRE GOLDEN AGE of modern music. 2) X3 Reunion - proper space music for a proper space game. 3) Oblivion - fits perfectly with the fantasy setting. 4) Most COD games - music threw me right in the action (All Ghillied Up FTW) 5) S.T.A.L.K.E.R and METRO 2033 tied together - amazing ambiental music. 6) Mass Effect 1&2 - I don't think there's ANYTHING I DON'T like about ME series. 7) Halo Combat Evolved - probably the only HALO game with such amazing music. 8 ) Half-Life 2 - grim, dark, haunting. 9) Fallout 3 - The game that brought my love of 30s American music. 10) Need For Speed Hot Pursuit (2006) - fantastic techno on that one (too bad HP2010 has such pathetic songs)
  10. Hello, posting here in the hope that someone may help... :wallbash: So, until 3 days ago I was playing Oblivion with no problems whatsoever, let's say about 250 mods in total, and no serious issues EVER (apart from the occasional CTD, but that's part of the Oblivion experience  ) Then, for some idiotic reason, I decided that the Robert's Male Body v3, which I've been using for ages (and which I didn't HAVE to change, really) gave my fella a weird neck line, so I went for V4. BAAAAD decision. Plopped that in my Data directory after going through the ReadMe, disabled V3, ticked V4, did an ArchiveInvalidation in OBMM, started the game via OBSE-Loader, loaded a save... And it froze about 3/4 through the loadbar, stood there for about 1-2 minutes, then CTD with: AppName Oblivion.exe FaultModule ntdll.dll and some other details I did not note down. I said "Meh, happens..." so I did it again. This time, it popped up, I heard probably half-a-second of the Bethesda intro, then CTD - no error whatsoever. Weird. I go check out the OBMM load-order. Try again. Same thing, the game's not starting. Removed V4, put V3 back in, re-ticked V3, still nothing. Today I ran into a guy who had the same thing, only he used BOSS to fix the no start issue; So I dl'd BOSS and put it to work - needless to say, it found a few things wrong (but those weren't related to the sudden CTD, as they were wrong even BEFORE that happened). Fixed those, adjusted my order, launchd the game... YAY, MENU!!! Let's play! Load Game... FREEZES 1/3 through, crashes 1-2 minutes later, Windows Error... :wallbash: Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: Oblivion.exe Application Version: 1.2.0.416 Application Timestamp: 215a5750 Fault Module Name: ntdll.dll Fault Module Version: 6.1.7600.16385 Fault Module Timestamp: 4a5bdb3b Exception Code: c00000fd Exception Offset: 0002dd7e OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.1 Locale ID: 1033 Additional Information 1: ccf0 Additional Information 2: ccf08d7a22845210bdd5a78da3ab019e Additional Information 3: fb3f Additional Information 4: fb3f5fe4a18ad58f0d014b59f3ff70e3 I'm not sure what it means, but I do know that ntdll.dll is an essential part of Windows, so it could be something not-so-easy to fix. I also don't remember if my regular CTD's were due to ntdll.dll as the Fault Module, or it was just Oblivion.exe  One more thing - whatever song the game selected plays normally on the background; Then there's silence, no other song loads (as it usually does). If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it. Oblivion is, like, the #1 of only 4-5 games I regularly play. I need my gametime every now and then, and TES4 is the only one that truly delivers. I could play FO3 but I've already finished it 5 times... Or STALKER, but the derelict atmosphere gets me down after a while. Thank you in advance. === EDIT: Added a LoadOrder.rtf file I exported from OBMM: It contains all my active mods in BOSS-created load order. I thought it might come in handy.
