  1. Save regularly and re-load to contiue play. DBorn is riddled with conflicts from just about everything including Skyrim.

I have played 99% of the DLC, but have been locked out from finishing by loss of access to the [TAB] Magic menu, and CTD's. Another almost consitent CTD source is trying to acces Dragonborn Armor from dead bodies.

    .

Command line is the only (usually) reliable workaround, but even this can give CTD in the game. Still working on eliminating conflcts, or patching around them. Had to abandon some Alpha patches because of loss of critical path progresson in the DLC - great care is necessary! I am still a learner with Python, but lucky enough to have ready access to very skilled users among our Modding group.

xiamthewalrusx thanks I will try the papyrus lines.

PS this is also a good thread to read

  2. Suggest TES Mod Manager may help you start - it's the Skyrim's version of OBMM.

Caste a critical eye over you animations list. Check your video card's 3D settings as your SS's from Saarthal are indicating you have 3D activate, and are running spells running on on your player and NPC's.

I use 1920x1080 and Ultra setting as so these aspects show up clearly , and I isuspect you are using an ENB video plugin.

As a word of caution- conflicts kill games and enjoyment. If it looks like a mod is causing a problem disable it, be ruthless. Work one at a time so you limit any rework if you get it wrong, and document what you are doing.

The Skyrim mods are often particularly buggy and full of conflicts - Hence getting happy co-existence between them is a real game of Russian Roulette.

And lots of programming skill is required if you decide to try and patch around those conflicts in the fragile Skyrim environment. GameBryo is still the underlying technology in TESV and the legacies of it's heritage (and age) are very apparent when it is pushed hard, and challenged by conflicts.

  3. I usually save exit and reload. if that does not work regress down my save files list to one with full functions. Currently, my play has lost a large section of successful questing Player inventory & companions. It's a save game bug associated with escaping from the Thalmor Embassy and Party. when this is run in conjunction with Mages Colleges Quests. happen in a number of play throughs and players its more prevalent if your player has finished the Civil War Quests.

Persist, Skyrim like its TES predecessors as many problems perpetuated by an aging GameBryo engine. Steam does not help. Have you tried playing off line, and downloading the Steam cached files before going off line. Suggest you only do this if you have an unlimited ISP account. My radio link has cost me several $100's to keep Skyrim up to date since its release. Also back up, its far easier to restore you Back Up Files, than to go through the pain of re-installing Skyrim from scratch.

  4. If you are not worried about screen wavey lines and dishadow distortions there are a host of older card that will render basic Skyrim. However, if you want clear screens and minimal distortion abberent shadow effects you will need a IGByte card no earlier than a NvidiaGTENG 460 seried which will support Ultra settings at 1680 x 1050, and witha suitable screen far higher resolutions screen rates. for Skyrim you also need a 2ms Black black screen refresh rate to allow fast motion rendering correctly. With Skyrim you need a good graphics rendering capability to by passthe uglies inthe skyrim code for drawing screens in the game. My laptop has a 4.5 Gbyte intel 3000 video GPU. renders flat greyish screens at 1920 x1080 with good detail but poor color definition. Fortunately, the laptophas an interleaved nvidia Geforce GT540M 2Gbyte that irun as the piimary video card for very good clear and distortion free screens at ultra settings.

  5. Thanks Drake. I've been around here enough to know that nobody 'owns' a poster's problem (actually I find the team approach more satisfying and successful). My own observations of your 'work' here on the forums told me that what I was suggesting would be OK with you ... I just respect you too much to make that assumption. I've posted your translation of the original post on the Claudia's Secret thread with a bit of an explanation. Hopefully DragonAviator or Grumpf_be will see it and have some suggestions or questions.

It looks like atonis may have hit the old Oblivion loss of USE Bug. Quite often P1D see you sleep mod is blamed for the loss of use, unfortunately it is just the conduit for another rogue animation file laying (probably disabled, but common named) that has activated to knock out the Space Bar command function in Oblivion. The old fix is draw a weapon and hit some furniture (not NPC's they hit back).

The more permanent fixes are disable 'P1D see you sleep' (yes it can be patched or load order adjusted to fix the problem until the next event). and make sure he is running these Obivion utilites to reduce Buffer Flush problem, and by pass the Gamebryo engine known crash points and a lot of other 'Fragilities" that cause partial CTD, or full CTD's.

    To Everyone:

Check that you have these or an alternative in your Oblivion build : -

Purge Cell Buffers - (both esp's), but you stil need to save as an extra precaution

Merkur67 is the author of the German translation, and is currently working on the Chapter 3 translation and is probably the best person to PM. I have passed a cop of atonis transcribed German language query to Merkur67.

The German version is still current, and Merkur is actively supporting it.

  6. Hi

great idea, but its a massive undertaking. Can you put together, and more importantly hold together a motivated team for the three years it wil take to do the concept alpha and beta code, one or more public releases to prove the beta code and the issue a qualified production version.

its not an easy task, and you need someone, or a small team to support the users, answer their comments and help solve the dificulties.

Take it from someone who knows and has been their, is still working toward delivering a final??? Product.

  7. I've just tried to download Malevolent, in order to install it to my game. However, instead of a neat little compressed file folder, all I have is something called a 7Z file type. It's not been put into the files I can turn on for the game, so I know something's wrong. Did I download the wrong thing, or is there something I do with a 7Z file?

7z is an advance archiving tool and you need to instal to get it to work. the program is available her on TESNexus.

  8. You'd think I would have come across this sooner since I loved Morrowind and liked Oblivion. Any advice as to how to start out? I've done a little research on how to download, not quite there yet. I have Oblivion, but now I want to go out and buy another copy of Morrowind before Skyrim comes out. I'm just a little lurie...sorry, don't know how to spell that, about downloading a bunch of mods when I don't know which ones work good together. Is there just one official mod that contains them all? Any advice would be great, thanks.

Add them one at a time run and test. Disable if you have even minor problems. It's very easy to download and enable lost of mods, and literally kill your Oblivion installation with conflicts.

Slow and careful pays off. Not all mods are well written, and even the mods from acknowledge authors can be very picky about what they will run with. Just remember no author can write a mod that will run on your PC and in your very individual configuration. I manage a large carefully crafted mod, that is designed to run on vanilla Oblivion, and does not need any companion mods (other than HGEC body mods) to allow a player to complete it's Quests. A lot of the better mods available are similarly crafted. The player community adds these mods to their very individually built gaming PC's, and in most case expects them to run faultlessly, without first identifying existing conflicts, and other operational problems they have been tolerating on their PC's for a long time. Quite often the new mod is not 'the straw that broke the camels back' it's just Oblivion saying I cannot manage any more mods!! Anything over 200 mods is walking the edge of a razor blade, even on carefully built gaming machine. So keep your gaming build simple and clean.

  9. <br>Ok so just when I thought I had resolved all my issues, it seems they've returned. After giving up on Sexlivion (seeing as I could never get the Player to participate in the animation while the NPC basically just pleasured herself in front of me) I have turned to SexDarkness, and with great results. Thus far I have seen the animations work properly for both parties involved... But... It appears that once I reach a certain skill level--roughly around 25.00-26.00--and my character begins to attempt more "advanced" positions, not simply the stand behind position, it seems I've run into the same trouble as in Sexlivion. Here I find that the NPC assumes a position while I remain locked in a stationary position. After I attempt to cast for a second time my player casts his spell into the air before him despite my best attempts to target the NPC and nothing happens. Rather I should say that I hear the noises associated with a working animation, but there is no movement on my part or on the part of the NPC. We simply remain stuck in limbo. Any ideas?<br>
<br><br>I would be looking for a conflict Animation, or mod. I know certain other versions of TES4 engines and animations have problems after the player is leveled up by level up extenders.  More often, I find the problem lays in the 'animation refuse' collected in meshes folder from disabled and inactive mods. Common named, idles, personality, and weapons wielding animation files, particularly the older animations are often overwritten by the last installed mod's that adds a same name file. The associated files for a disabled mod and can remain active long after the managing mod is disabled, all it requires is another mod to make a call on the filename. Files in the meshes folder will invariably activate before files embedded in a BSA, or when they have skewed priority for activation tables.<br> <br>Mk 1 eye ball search can weed them out, it can be a long an often frustrating process. The cleanest way is a new slate install and rebuild. That can be either wipe you current install and start again, or rename you current install ie Oblivion_bac so the it becomes a recoverable back up,  and then add a new instal of Oblivion into the same hard drive partition. in either event you get  rid of any problem files in the meshes folders. Have a clean copy of Oblivion to build on and test as you add the mods one at a time, ensuring  minimal or manageable conflict situation. Problems - this approach needs discipline in what you do and sufficient Hard Drive space to allow for two oblivion installs inte same drive and partition.<br><br>Cheers<br><br>DragonAviator

What would be really nice and quite difficult is a search function for comments. I see two benefits for reviewing mod users comments and for Mod users to look for responses on problems.

One of the things I am continually doing is searching for my previous response to assist users who have a valid problem with a mod, and either have not reviewed previous comments (ie self helped themselves), or are English as second language user having difficulty the language of the forum.

There have been occasions in recent months where I have personally had to walk through a 100+ pages of comments trying to identify, and collate confliction information - thus if it is achievable - maybe not immediately, a search function would be of benefit, and in the longer term a reporting function.

  11. So, I was drooling over WAC's set of new creatures: http://waalx.com/Rea...28ebae69ac5b833

I didn't like that the only way to get them was to use his whole overhaul. Lame in my opinion. I decided to start a project of my own which would be to use his master file, and manually re-place stuff that I wanted.

I started out by just adding a lion near skingrad to get used to things. All I had was the WAC master file and my custom file with only the placement of the lion from the master file. It crashed when I entered the area.

After some poking around, I decided to activate the WAC.esp file, which has the overhaul part of things. Magically, it didn't crash, and my lion was there. Okay, it needs something from WAC.esp to work. I slowly started deleting parts of the WAC.esp in TES4Edit in order to pinpoint what it was that was letting my lion spawn without crashing. I eventually got the WAC.esp to 0KB, there was nothing at all left in TES4edit.

Okay, so it was nothing? I disabled the empty shell of WAC.esp. It crashed. Enabled it. It worked. Renamed WAC.esp to jWAC.esp, it crashed. Renamed it back to WAC.esp, it worked.

This is really strange to me. What is it about having a WAC.esp file with nothing in it that is allowing things to work?

Try copying the lion and renaming it in the CS and saving it as anew item into a mod you own. That will perserve the (renamed) Lion, give you ownership and a mod to place it in the Oblivion world.

I am totally disenchanted with you mesaging system. I try to do the right thing and advise you of a nuisance add (Hacking)that appears to track login's and depletes my ISP download allocation when it switches to music and animations. The address is:

    http://www.aff.mobilefun4hours.com/winipad?a_aid=vcm&CampaignID=6915d541

I go to post my email, and your server reponds:-

Suspected cracking attempt. Your email was not sent.

Thank you very much! Yet again I am unimpressed, I have lost severasl messages to you trying to do the right thing because of your hard to read securty. I wear strong glasses that need replacing, and even maginfying the crazy script I have problems when the Hay Fever is playing up, and that's a lot of the time, and why I have not been able to replace my old glasses.

You are not the only recent target:

    This arrived form DeviantArt today

Silverpop Systems, Inc., a leading marketing company that sends email messages for its clients, told us that information was taken from its servers. This was probably part of a sweep by spammers. As a result, email addresses belonging to deviantART members were copied. Corresponding usernames and birth date may also have been removed.

I personally have around 2000 clients across the world to advise that I am discontinuing an old Backup email account because its details have been scavenged from its hosting ISP on a number of occassions, and now those details appear to have been onsold (by hackers). Fortunately for me while this is inconvenient the security of my own systems has not been compromised.

Hope you all have a good Christmas and New Year, Cheers

Thanks this explains why i have seen so many SQL errors over the last couple of weeks. My account email has ot been compromised as far as I know. It has very limited use so any spamm will be immediately detected. Unfortunately Icannot say the same for an older account I have discontinued using except its registered log on credential. Its silly season and iexpect spam increase, so far it only been bait sham watch sales and a few counterfiet drug adds, and as with all of this bogus traffic, they end up with the federal police and blacklisting agency. Keep up the good work, and all the best for Christmas, the New Year to you, your family and the Nexus team.

  15. thanks a lot codepoet.

    i will try this later.

right now im just exploring and trying to get a feel for the game, and keeping well away from primm, lol.

on my next play i will try this and hopefully it works.

    thanks again.

I had the same problem leaving the Docs after he patched me up openthe door, bang, and a headless body collapses, and the game loops the death scene. If its not a bug Ill eat my hat, because its happened a number of time. opena door to go outside and bang your dead. Solution ~TGM 'toggle god mode' because when you step outsided TGM'd there are no enemies to be seen, and no indication of any in detection range. None visible through binoculars or the sniper rifle scope and if you use ~TCl and walk up into the sky, there are appear to be none hidding on roof tops behind boulders or any where a snipper might be within the game physics for a rifle shot. It's not an expolsive trap because it would still go off TGM'd. The same applies for a sniper shooting the round would still come your way, but do nothing.

So what do we do SUBMIT Bug reports until Bethesda fixes it. That is of course if you Internet account has the download limit availbility to accept Steam updates. Steam has killed mine for two months now updating my Half-Life 2 installation and it still has 1.5 Gybytes to go to fully update the HL2 Package. Another story. Bethesda lost my vote when they went Steam for this game, One day past release date (received 22OCT and Installed that day) and I needed a 220 mbyte download before I could play it. It stil has bugs, but losing your head from walking through a door really kills the enjoyment of the game. PS if you want to change from the default body, there are some early release efforts based on Dimon T3, and all you have to do is copy the Exnem meshes (_male) and Textures Female and raider and Exnem body works. I stiil have to work through the clothes and costumes, becauses of what T3 clothing skeleton does to the Exnem skin. For those of you who have any experience a T3 skeleton in T3 Clothing will turn the Exnem body skin *.DDS Upside down and back to front. So only T3 clothing where exposed skin is visible that looks ok, is clothing that covers the torso ie high neck to knee with boots up to the knee. Still working through what works and what will not. Still on my list are faces, hair, eyes and cosmatics, because the out of the box character sprites are tragically lacking.

    Cheers,
