Whats your preferred way to play fallout New Vegas
loilhart replied to MercsRus's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Discussion
im on my own out there and i love to camp out in the wastes sneaking around and killing w/e comes my way, but of course ill help those in need for the action or the right amount of caps. ;D -
glad i noticed this subforum way down here, this worked for me (in reference) i pretty much just created the base outer piece of a gun and used its nif shape data to paste over the silencers base shape data (NiTriStripData?) think thats what it was. block>copy then block>paste over :P noice this was easier than i was making it out to be... lol as always. anyway it shows up in the geck so i take it that it will work in game.

console commands MoveToQuestTarget | movetoqt | Move player to current quest target (optional param: target number). script commands // PlaceLocationMarker | plm | PlaceLocationMarker x y z (optional name) (optional color ) // ClearLocationMarkers | clm | MoveToMarker | MoveTo | GetMapMarkerVisible | | just some fallout 3 commands from geck i found. something youd have to script i guess....be cool for testing. *shrugs* *strike outs on stuff i think is for the marker mesh XD i just used ctrl+f "marker" on the webpage...i think theres a better list somewhere >_>? (like for nv)

the graphite stuff should be under your main toolbar stuffs when your in poly edit mode. now im not looking at the model so idk what exactly you could/should do to it....also u_u im self taught for 6yrs on 3ds max but im fresh to making things for fallout so my guess would just be to invert the new faces if a problem arises with just leaving them be. + i always make like 5 or 6 of the same file or more just to have it at dif states for edits and backups sake. lol maybe when i get my certs i could be more helpful XD but i hope this is good for feedback at least. btw backburner is always on the backburner its pretty useful once you get to know it. lol

booleans are a habbit i broke a long time ago, you should start using the graphite modeling tools. (its pretty much like having the two models present just to make one dif shape in the original model when you should just create a new loop or cut a hole and create new polys.)
-
with max you can use backburner to log stuff..... also boolean like that and your bound to end up with broken stuff, your better off just making/breaking a few polys than a whole model just to create an indent.

Its not finding the folder with your mods in it. so im guessing theres some settings changed somewhere or maybe you need to run as admin? havent used fomm a lot but you could also try googling the error event code CLR20r3...which is caused by missing directorys or not finding them. *shrugs*

Planning a small mod and need some help

idk what happens to arcade (still playing the game XD) but maybe look into somehow preventing his death first then working out everything else afterwards. that way theres sort of a "new" chapter to his story to work with. *shrugs* btw totally hated the "ending" for the original game....stopped playing when the dad died and just started tearing it up (which got me into modding) lol XD -

the way i learn: just mess around with it, look how things connect to each other in the geck. course i know nothing about how to do this either ...yet so far ive made one mod for new vegas and some other for fallout i never released like nuka cola machine script changes (simple stuff) but ive learned mostly through doing so just take any npc like arcade and just start tinkering with his dif scripts and other assets, youll start to get what makes "him" tick. btw banhammer XD lol -
Need Retexture Help
loilhart replied to wanderingwanda's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
sorry edited my post above like a jerk XD but thats how much info ive got, and just using the billboard as a way of staying topic lol. so in short some stuff will use the nif for its texture calls and others just use the nif as a model and have refs to texturesets from what ive seen so far. (except i dont understand how the billboard static gets the textureset if just looking for a dds...though im not nif exp.) -

think if your just using a default nif that calls for a texture if you keep the texture set name with dif contents thatd work. bout as much as i can guess.... looking at the geck stuffs alil... *just from my knowledge things like impact data (have impact nifs) use texture sets.... as for some other things you can just see what texture sets get ref from by using the use info selection from the right click menu. things like "NVBillboardSunsetSarsaparilla" which refs to the world object static of "BillboardSunsetSarsaparillaNV" which uses the nif file for its textures it seems. so in that case its within the nif file. -

ah i see so the nif is calling the wrong directory? not the geck itself. ive had wrong directory pop up before (when not using nifs) just dds files...anyway *shrugs* im about to get more into nif files i guess XD -

try using default folder names. "data/meshes/yourfile.nif" "data/textures/yourfile.dds" *btw i use texture sets? thought that was just good practice? anyway thats how it acts for me. so any folder name data with textures and meshes folder in it will work desktop/data/meshes/nif like that i think. -
well w/e i think ive figured out a way to do what i want. im just surprised no one had any ideas or thoughts to share, being the nexus forum and all >__%2
