  1. Anyone know what this terrain at the top is? It's getting in the way of everything I'm doing and is a pain for me so far, only came uncovered when I lowered the terrain in northern Skyrim. It looks like an LOD model of the terrain but it does not go away even when I'm in the same cell. Can't modify it at all with landscape tools or select it like a mesh.
  2. And this is what it boils down to, outright hostility because somebody doesn't support a rule here. Pretending like the rules are perfect and nothing is wrong is one of the thing that kills any positive discussion on the Nexus and elsewhere. Like I said, I'll live without the mod I got banned from, I never even really planned on using it. This started because I'm more amazed that this feature is something that's allowed. Hell, if instead of saying "deal with it" the page said "if you feel like you were banned unfairly message here or post here" or something, I'd have just never done anything. My problem is with the feature and, more than that, the complete uncaring attitude that's apparently had for the end user who might be screwed over by pettiness.
  3. You clearly don't like the way modders are given the right to handle their work here and have a problem with the way modders behave here as well, that goes outside and beyond the one particular experience you are complaining about. As evidenced in your many remarks above. Your comments come across quite aggressively in that regard. So whether or not you intended it, you really do come across as having a problem with the modders and their behavior here. I am not angry, I am providing the reasons why your 'offense' at the modders in general on this site is unwarranted. However I am not going to make judgement on the modder banning you in this specific case, I don't have all the facts. Was it fair...was it not fair..I don't know. All I know is that it was the modder's right to 'refuse service'. Given that the complaints are against the existence of the feature itself, it is a clear indication that those people want it removed. I don't like the way modders are placed on a pedestal and get to treat end users like s#*! just because they spend time making something. I rarely see this in modding communities outside of the Nexus, mostly because on the Nexus these opinions are extremely prevalent, and the community supports it. People have been dealing with trolls criticizing them since modding was first created, but only on the Nexus can mod makers so thoroughly censor people for the pettiest of reasons. I have a problem with the rules, not the modders, because it's the rules that facilitate the bad behavior. And nobody here wants blocking, censoring, or deleting removed, or at least nobody is arguing it here, people are arguing a mod maker has no reason to have the ability to wholesale blacklist users from even seeing their mod. Problems with mod users censoring comments and criticism is an entirely different issue, the one being discussed is on mod blacklisting. Moving on to later comments. It doesn't matter what US law over small businesses state, it's a useless argument that detracts from any real argument on what's wrong with the system. The Nexus isn't a 5-star classy restaurant and it's not your local store, and it's not based upon supply + demand economics so the basics of the law itself is meaningless here. It's rules entirely set up by admins, who made these rules because they wish it to be so. Constantly turning this argument into "mod makers vs. hordes of people who just want to be mean and don't appreciate the amazing effort they put out" isn't productive either because it has nothing to do with the argument. Not a single person in this thread has argued against the mod maker's right to control the distribution of their mod. Nobody disagrees with their right to mute, silence, delete and whatever else comments and commentators whether for good or ill. The problem here comes from a mod authors ability to effectively block out people from downloading their mod for no purpose. It accomplishes nothing besides satisfying some petty grudge. I'll live without the HD nail mod that was being offered, but if, say, Chesko decided that anybody with a furry or anime avatar should be banned from even seeing all of his mods then it'd be absolute crap. It's an exploitable system and pretending like the mod maker can do no wrong is just being blissfully ignorant. If someone insults the mod creator (or, God forbid, posts a comment that isn't a bug report or empty praise), they can be blocked and never speak to the creator again, but having them never download their mod doesn't do anything besides fulfill a grudge. And hey, maybe that'd be fine if the page you hit when this happen didn't explicitly say "deal with it, we don't care." The page basically says the mod author is infallible, and can dictate whatever he wishes for whatever reason. There's zero recourse for any wrongdoing on the part of the mod creator.
  4. Good God Shezrie I'm not sure how often I need to tell you that I am a mod creator. The only difference is I do not have a mod on the Nexus, I have been modding since Half Life 2 was released, I spent time in a tent in a field in the desert while in the Marines in my free time drafting a mod I made I love modding so much. Your experience as a modder, having spent years pouring time into a mod, is not a unique one in this conversation. The fact that you have decided I have a personal axe to grind against modders is telling. You're not creating any dialogue, and it's endemic of a community where mod authors are supported in removing even small amounts of criticism. I have nothing against modders, I didn't put money into this site because I have a bone to pick with you and other Nexus modders. I don't have mods in the works for Skyrim and Fallout 4 because I absolutely want to tear the site down and insult you. I talk about myself because, somehow, even while I keep reiterating I'm a modder and don't having anything against modders having control of their mods, I knew someone would accuse me of some sort of anti-modder bias just for disliking a feature on this site. I have plenty of idea running a mod, plenty of idea on taking abuse for the mod, while I'm not a frequent poster I know well about the Nexus and the modders it has lost. What is also a fact is that at the end of the day you have the full ability to go as far as lock comments, because on a site where mod creators tend to delete even the smallest modicum of criticism, and is infamous for it, there's no real reason to even have them. And you have a right to lock those comments, and ban people from commenting, or messaging you, have a ball. But there is zero reason to block someone from even seeing your mod besides pettiness, especially when, like in my case, the other person did not even insult anyone. You say I have a very 'disrespectful and ungrateful attitude', when I have been desperately trying to be civil with you because I saw this argument coming. I have never had an interaction with the modder who banned me, I have never used any of his mods, and I came into this thread trying to explain that not only am I a fellow modder, and not only do I believe that modders do have rights, but that I would have liked to apologize to the mod creator if I had done something wrong. My complaint was that I was never even given this chance, and that even if I have insulted him, there was no reason to fully remove me from ever seeing his mods. A simple block of communications, which he did to my more than polite PM, would have sufficed if I had truly offended him. You're getting angry at me for something that I'm not even disagreeing with you on. People are shitty. Where we disagree is that I don't see a reason to prohibit anyone from seeing your mod, because that's not solving an issue that's just pettiness and holding grudges.
  5. Yes, Nexus does extend that right, I'm saying it's a silly thing to extend. If Nexus wants to allow mod authors to ban users from commenting on their mods or PMing them, then whatever, they have the right to do so despite the consequences. But mod authors shouldn't be able to block people from even viewing their mods for something as petty as disliking someone making a vaguely, (and for God's sake let's be honest, vaguely) disagreeable comment on another mod. If this is even a thing that should be done, it should be done by moderators, not by random content producers. Nexus is the only mod front that allows this. The others, Steam Workshop, ModDB, hell, Loverslab, all have some protection for modders and their work but they don't have that one, and amazingly, they have yet to collapse in on themselves. Because in my 7 years of being a member of the Nexus I'm sure I insulted someone somewhere at some point, I was covering my bases. The hardest I've probably ever gone was saying something stretched lore, and I believe I called a Fallout 4 mod edgy. If that means random mod makers will then ban me because of those comments then that's frankly ridiculous. This community already encourages modders to live in a bubble away from criticism far too often, this is just a leap into insanity. Why should you tolerate the rude, unappreciative masses who don't understand the skill and care that went into retexturing the characters fingernails? You don't, Nexus already coddles mod makers to the point they can safely block off all communication with people they don't like. Banning someone from even seeing your mod isn't the solution to that problem, banning them from commenting on it or PMing you is. Also do I seem like some insulting random user who wandered onto his page and harassed him? Once again, I'm a modder, I understand people can be rude, I'm also an adult and I normally ignore these people (and I get dozens of them. A day.) or I block them from speaking to me if they're particularly noxious. I've never seen someone say something I don't like on another mod that's not even insulting and then had them blocked from even seeing my mod. You keep saying 'they' as if there is an organized army marching onto your mod pages to hurl abuse at you, or as if I may be a member of this group. To which I'll just say, because I really feel like I've gone out of my way to explain why that's not applicable here, no.
  6. Yeah I know nothing will change because Nexus has always greatly valued mod authors over users in literally anything forever to the point of insanity, but it's ridiculous that somebody can simply block others from using their mod when the other has done absolutely nothing to provoke it. I pay for a premium membership because I want to use mods and support the site, but I find parts of it blocked off even though I have not contributed to the community in half a decade. On the list of noxious things mod authors are allowed to get away with (as a mod maker) this is really at the top. For instance, I found myself banned from using a mod, I had never spoken to the maker, seen any of his mods, or interacted with him or any of his friends. So I asked him what I had done, hoping to maybe resolve the issue and assuming there had been a mistake, or I had slighted him in the past (in which case I would have asked for forgiveness like an adult). But neither of these were the reasons: http://i.imgur.com/UGhsdmB.png I don't even know what that means. I'm assuming the reason is because I joined before 5-16-2016, in which case, what? I've committed the faux pas of joining earlier than others. I hardly ever play Skyrim, and I just got a new installation, so I don't even have access to older mods! What sense does it make to ban somebody because I don't 'need' their mods. I guess anyone who has been using the Nexus for a while or supports it shouldn't be allowed to use some mods? If he banned all premium users, would the Nexus still not care? Probably not, honestly. Oh, and I don't know what exactly he meant for sure because he also proceeded to block all communications with me. I'm a mod creator, I've never released anything for a Bethesda game, but I've produced mods for a dozen different games over the years. I have always supported modders and their rights to their work and to content curation. I've left reviews on mods, some rude, some exceptionally civil, and seen them deleted and myself blocked, I've seen people act like they are superior because they know how to use Creation Kit, regardless, I have never really complained about it here and I've always seen it as a consequence of trying to give power to modders. But seriously, banning people from even downloading a mod? There's no reason to it. Absolutely none.
  7. So every time I go to my new area, all the NPCs on the map just spawn on top of it. Removing it just leads to them spawning wherever I do. I have them in different areas and there's a few markers around (but no navmesh yet). Anyone know why? Never had this issue with Skyrim.
  8. Hey all. I'm trying to make a mod that makes everywhere outdoors irradiated. With a lot of help from Reddit, it was decided an empty quest making the player take rads when outside was the way to go. I was given this code: Spell Property PlayerRadiationSpell Auto Actor playerRef = Game.GetPlayer() playerRef.AddSpell(PlayerRadiationSpell) debug.notification("Radiation spell added") For the script. I made an empty quest and added this in as a script, but I still get nothing when I start the game. Any help?
  9. I did talk to the smith, and I only use one save. I will try and go back and talk to him again.
  10. After disabling all my mods, the problem still persists.
  11. Started a new game, and this is weird. I went and did Bleak Falls Barrow without the quest, went to Whiterun, enter the hall and the standard argument that you see when you first go there plays as normal. Then the dark elf pulls her sword and goes "what is the meaning of this interruption" but wont actually engage in dialogue with me, interacting with her just causes her to repeat this. I try and ignore her and walk up to the Jarl (as she simply follows me with sword drawn) and when I interact with him he just gets all pissy I interrupted him (even though they stopped talking) and wont go into conversation. I have left and waited 24 hours and reloaded an old save with nothing changing.
  12. It's the Night's Watch. Reading comprehension bro.
  13. If you do not know how to use print screen, than I do not think you know how to implement this right.
