I like the walls. Could be very useful. A collapsed section or two, and some matching single bricks would make the set perfect.

Yes., the walls will have variation - half walls., door frame sections., im planning on making a staircase too., so people can just build what they want, the new name should be `las vegas lego,' aha.

Hmm Besides all the previous advise I've given you Allen, For learning how to mod Fallout, such as animating moving containers and things of similar nature I'd suggest going back and finding mods that you've played with interesting content and ask the creators about thier methods.

Yes, Ive asked many many authours about advice or methods, I have not however asked the author of the hidden shelter mod.

We're planning to make a vault as the site of the maze.
I've been working on an old Medieval 2 mod for the past week to pass the time.In any event, would you be interested in working with use on the vault mod in the future? I don't have the resources that Josh made, so I can't do anything with the GECK at present, but after he returns in a week or two then we could definitely use a good modeler such as yourself.
Thank you for the compliment Trooper, Im really just someone with a hobby for modeling at the moment, but as time goes on, my work is getting better.
I would have course love to help with the project, as long as you dont set very STRICT deadlines. ( deadlines are fine, but I live a busy life)
Indeed if you enjoy me working on the team, I would not mind making it an officla thing, as I am also currently looking for a team for some of my projects.

As far as Etiquette goes, I myself would not release something containing anyone elses mod content that I did not have written permission from the author.
I do agree with David up to the point of, if the member is not active, I feel you should ask the staff - If the item is not requested a lot, lets say a pair of headphones from F03 you want to port to NV I would say, its not worth it.
If you were oging to port something a lot of players wanted and COULD NOT contact the authour, id say that the staff would have to decide whats best for the community.
Its really about the rules & your personal opinion.

Ive only had a quick skim read over your threads, My other half is insisting on watching t.v >.>
- for your maze, the wall set will offer you the ability to create the maze, all you will need is some basic GECK skill of placing objects, and the creativity to make the maze exciting of course. :)
I have fallen in love with the second idea, but feel it is a grand undertaking, You might be best to assemble a small modding team to help with everything you need. :)

Latest project `WALLS,'
Is nearing completion guys and girls!
Here are some screen shots for you all to enjoy.
These walls will add a new dimmension to modding - using 3d space, the following pictures are made using only TWO wall peices.
I belive that these wall pieces - while in beta from a sleep deprices AllanOcelot shall be useful to all modders wanting to add a new location or a simple hiding spot.
The walls can be used as an interior cell - or in the wasteland itself, for mods, or for someone to build their own home via the geck.
Please note - the walls do not `click,' together, you MUST be aware of 3d space while using these wall peices to get them to look natural by connecting them.
I am going to be updating this pack constantly and adding in new elements so players can make the buildings of their dreams.
( multi story building IS SUPPORTED at this time, however, for the sake of time, ive ont shown it in the screen shots. )

I would love concept art for all/anything you may be intrested in.
Infact, if you have concept art of anything, please for the love of god send it me, theres nothing better for me than modeling from some beautiful hand drawn concept art. ( ive got two gigs of concept art and various books around the house from long ago, before I started modeling) so, some concept art would be lovely.
I strongly disagree with modern legion, I like to think we have all grown out of the worlds stupid nazi fad and can learn to tolerate each other, implimenting them in game is just granting them their wish of imortalazation in my mind. but meh. I can understand the request.
As I say, im more of a modeler, so send over any concept art you have of anything you would like to see in game. and Ill will be glad to distibute it as a moddrs rescource for our wonderful community to use.

make sure that you make the nonpipboy object in blender if this armour is going to be worn by npcs....I foget but it tells fallout to use that part of the model if the npc has or does not have a pipboy.

Im sure there are lots of 3dmax users who are upset about the lack of 3dmax content.
Id therefore love to see it, and as you say, the nifskope animating would come in really handy also!

IMPORTANT NOTICE: - I realise that the engine is the same as oblivion and F03, you may feel that these tutorials get the job done, HOWEVER, I myself know form personal experience a lot of these tutorials stray too far from subject matter, are not clear enoug or simply do not relate to the task we are trying to complete.

CALLING ALL NEW VEGAS MODDERS.
We all need to start off somewhere, and that somewhere is usually with a video that inspires us, it makes us go `I want to do that,'
Nothing is stopping anyone in the world from becomming a modder, nothing but knowledge.
You see, the world of modding can look daunting to someone who has not worked with the game before, or even modded before.
Therefore im starting a community project to make some new vegas tutorials.
I shall be starting with a COMPLETE blender to Fallout new vegas of static objects.
Covering - very basic blend functions ( there are enough blender tuts online)
Covering - uv mapping
Covering - nifskope 101 - all the noob needs to know.
Covering - in geck to in game.
These videos will be done over the next couple of days ( my new microphone shall be here saturday I belive)
However....
I can only model static objects at the moment ( walls, swords, armour ect )
I DO NOT HAVE THE SKILLS TO MAKE AN ENTIRE TUTORIAL SERIS.
So please, if you can make a tutorial ( video or image) explaining in detail what needs to be done for your subject I shall repay you tenfold.
( I will pay for a months membership for a tutorial that teachs me personally something useful)
here is a list that I feel we need making; ( feel free to take up one of the subjects and post your own tutorial below)
- Animation - from blender to new vegas. ( not to cover blender basics )
- Making good textures ( to include normal maps, spec maps, ect - either gimp or photoshop)
- Armour and Connecting to bones. (needs to be VERY basic - e.g making a cube and attaching it to a bone, just to get it in game)
- Weapons - Again, very basic..... taking A rifle - replacing the barrel and stock with a custom mesh....
All of these need to be very basic, nothign that goes into detail about blender, I dont think an animation tutorial that explains uv mapping is helpful.
How to get your months membership:
- I must be able to follow your steps and get the tutorial fully working - e.g - I must be able to get a cube from blender to appear as an armour in game.
Thats it - I shall send the money via paypal and you can happily buy yourself membership....or a coffee......
- this is a rough draft, me and my other half are about to watch some t.v - so Ill re-type this tommorow.....please, for the love of god, share your knowledge so others may learn!

using a 5570 myself, and let me tell you, im still impressed everytime I pop in a new game and can play it at full specs.
I would not worry about the 3d, its not a big feature your missing out on in my books.
Biggest selling point of the 5570? crossfire baby....
im getting a second one some point this summer, just for the fact I can....ATI are even kind enough to give me a free cable in the box for it aha.....

Do I need to make the sliding back animation?
Does fallout understand that the animation needs to be reversed.....how do I even get an animatrion in nifskope........so many questions. =/

Dont run background applications?
upgrade some pc parts.
Turn off music
upgrade some pc parts
play on a lower resolution but on high settings? = fail
upgrade some pc parts.
Thats all I can think of.

Im not a scripter, but this could be done using the getactor or something like that I belive.
I dont think it would respawn the item, but rather put it in a certain location...... im not going to write fake script, but what I figure it might sound like. - geek face -

It really needs to be something simple like that, I know this worked in arma 2 ( diffrent scripting ) but the concept is the same.

Hello guys and gals.
I have a simple quesiton here that I need some help with.
I have created an item in blender and I have sucsessfully animated it (albeit a strange way) by following this tutorial;
(all questions related to using the item in fallout new vegas)
My question(s) is/are these;
1- how do I make animation stages?
For instance, my object should `open,' and `close,' how would I go about doing this?
or rather, do I need to do this?....im new to animation and only just picked it up.....
2. - Is there a limit on frames I can have, a sliding door is one thing, but lets say I wanted to make a giant tentical monster.....( I dont ) if I riggged it up and animated it with 300 frames, would it work in game?
3. - After ive made my items and exported them, whats the next step....
Im sorry that I have so many questions - but its a gray area for me. I followed a door animation, but the author of the tutorial was not very clear about what to do. Im not a noob to blender, just to animation in general.
If I get this working, I promise to make a step by step video tutorial telling everyone else how to get something simple animated in game, you guys would not only be doing me a favour, but I suspect a lot of want to be modders aswell.

it wont make their game crash form being outside.
unless they are running a pc form way back in the day.
if you did wish to make it all inside, youd have to select everything in veiw in the world veiw.
Then cntrl c to copy the items.
open up a new interier and cntrl v.
but you then have massive problemms like - where is the town?
youll have to build a sky and a wall around the town
there wil only be one door in and out, those kind of things.

open the new model you recived in nifskope.
click on ,lets say, his legs , on the right you should see a line of text highlighted.
and an arrow enxt to it, click the arrow.
on the list you are looking for `material,' - it will have a paint pallete symbol next to it.
click on it, the box at the bottom of nifskope will now change.
scroll the informaiton until you find `gloss,' or `specularity,' ( i forget 0.0 ) and change the number from whatever it is to half.
then save and reload in game.

Updates are as follows;
1. Im learning how to - animate - make armour - make weapons useable ( in that order) anyone who can offer first hand experience in those fields please pm me, if I learn something from you, there might be a small reward in it. (copy tutorial links does ont count ;-) )
2, -Im working on a lot. But my main quest for glory is keeping this thread full, and I need help!
Please suggest objects you think people may need for mods, I thought my shop interiors would be more popular than this, and im slightly dissapointed by the lack of intrest. So all sugestions welcome.
3. - Im working on a wall set at the moment, including wall piece, corners, ends and alterations.
4. - Main project ( to learn animation) is this - a new `hidden container,' vending machine.
The uv maps are simple, as always, and the diffrence with this shall be the fact its animated, the door shall slide to the left as shown in the picture.
I just need to learn how >.>
enjoy the pretty texture until then :)

It looks like its slowly comming together, Im happy you enjoy the sign, it fits right in with the town.
Id suggest you navmesh the place soon, so you can start making the town come to life, having the residents around a fire, or drinking, talking ect ect
Id also suggest that buildings be a bit more.....bare?
usually people go on about clutter and clutter is good, we enjoy mess inside buildings and what not, but when a medical building has omre terminals in one building than the robco factory it seems they are doing a lil bit too well for themself ;-)

Thats fine.
One rule of working with me is I must release a lot of my work for the community to use, not essential things, like , I dont know, a special item or quest related things, but lets say I build a lab wing, I would give the majority of that to the community, so other modders may benifit, this is nothing to stop the mod or anything, but rather, I feel it aids the community more that way.
Allowing more mods to be produced with custom content.
