  1. You must check the boxes in the Data Files section of the offial launcher. The official launcher is the first box that comes up . It has Play, Options, Data files, Tech Support, and Exit on the right hand side. Go into data Files and check all the boxes for the DLC. If it works when you start the game you will recieve several radio transmisions telling you about the new content.
  2. Ai-nene, I entered the game and the textures on certain items, rocks for instance, were very blurry. I disabled all DLC - no change. I think the 1.7 patch did it. Did a fresh install - no luck. Five days of work and research and I am worse off than when I started. For now I am going to quit until next weekend. I have spent all of my Thanksgiving vacation here in the States trying to mod this game and now I am going play Fallout NV and let all my newfound knowledge soak in. I will start over next weekend. Thanks for your help.
  3. I do not think I should be posting so many times but I can't figure out how to use the Multiquote button to quote several people at once. You are correct . The second disk did install the 1.7 patch. As far as FOMM and DLC....FOMM Settings Tab states the following: Mod directory = C:\Games for Fallout 3\Fallout 3\mods Install Info = C:\Games\Fallout 3\Install Info Fallout 3 directory = C:\Games for Fallout 3\Fallout 3 I understand that I must move DLC from where MGfWL stores them to my data folder but I annot find them. FOMM can. I shall now try to learn why while I eat my breakfast. Thanks for your help.
  4. Out Freaking Standing! Worked like a charm. Thank you. Thought I was going to be forced to purchase another copy to get DLC. Of course now I must learn how to get mods to work on DLC......Cool.....I think.
  5. Help a noob with what may be and "old news" problem. I am runing Fallout 3 Game of the Year Edition version 1.0.0.12 with no DLC content using Windows 7. I can't get DVD2 to work. FOMM states that the DLC is there (Maybe from my original install last winter) but I can't find it, even by showing hidden files. Either way I do not have the .esm file checkboxes checked in FOMM. Anyhow, my problem is that FOSE (v1.2 b2) states I must upgrade game to v1.7. I go to the official site and start the download. The game starts in the middle of it and the download stops responding. If I close the game the download screens disappear. I am running the game from C:/Games for Fallout 3/Fallout 3 directory instead of the C:/programs (x86) directory. While I'm not too sure what it all means my Control Panel Programs and Features page shows that I have MGfW-Live, MGfW-Live Redistributable, Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1, and Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile. Can anyone help? Thank you, Mudtoy
  6. Thanks for responding. I reloaded the game and told the install wizard were to put it and all is well.
  7. OK, Here goes.... I am a complete noob to computers, modding, and forums but refuse to stay that way. I built my first computer last winter, upgraded it last week, found out about mods three days ago, and have since spent every free minute (thankfully I have no life) tinkering in an attempt to use them. I am using Windows 7 and the GfWL Game of the Year Edition with the DVD in the thingy. I tried to use FOMM but had no success and after a solid day of research became even more confused. So, I will try installing mods manually first, learning more than I would doing it the "easy" way, and worry about FOMM later. I hope. I installed Quarn's Archive Invalidation Invalidated. I followed NMC's "(the manual way)" to install his Texture Pack for FO3. The only problem I saw is that it did not show up in the Data Files section of the official game launcher (nor in FOMM). It looks fantastic. I now want to have NMC's baby, and coming from a 47 yr old man that's saying something. I am hooked bad but know little about computers so as I stated above: Here goes..... I understand it's a good idea to move my Fallout 3 folder ("the game") out of C:/Program Files (x86)/Bethesda Softworks/ to avoid conflicts with Windows 7 User Account Controls. After backing up my Fallout 3 folder, saved games, and every Fallout.ini file I could find (there seems to be several) I created a new folder C:/Games for Fallout 3/ and put the game in there. I then created a shortcut to the Fallout 3.exe file and the game started up just fine. Well, almost... The game starts fine with my new shortcut but there is no Official Launcher. The game starts off at the next screen (I hope that makes sense. You know, the screen with the Brotherhood of Steel dude and the continue/new/load/etc. buttons). I now cannot use the official launcher to manage my mods. I need to use it's Data Files section do I not? If I can manage to install my next mod (Color Hi Detail Maps and Icons so I can quickly see if I was successful) I must check the boxes next to, I believe, the .esp files that will then be listed there. As of now I must explore to my DVD RW Drive(D:) drive and double click to get the launcher to appear. If I then click on Data Files the Fallout 3 Data Files dialog box comes up but nothing is listed. If I click Play a User Account Control dialog box comes up and asks me if I want to allow the setup.exe file to have access. When I click yes it looks as if the game tries to install all over again. A few windows flash too quick to see and I end up with a Fallout 3 Installshield Wizard dialog box asking "Do you want to completely remove the selected application and all of it's features". I am going to delete the game and use the DVD to install the game into my new folder. I must admit I have already tried this but the game crashed on start-up. This may have been my fault though as it was 3:00 am this morning, I had been screwing with this all day, and was a bit out of it. Lord only knows what I did or did not do. On that note, some people suggest using C:/Games/ to store the game but when I check that path there is already a folder named Fallout 3 there with an Install Info folder inside. I moved all that and used the install wizard to put the game there instead. I think that may have been the 3:00 am problem. Well, I will shut up now and re-install the game. Any help - even if it is to correct my terms or vocabulary or anything (ecxept spelling) - will be appreciated.
