  1. I love how so many of you get offended by this like he just insulted your mother. People you meet on the interwebs than you may have different opinions. Shocking, I know, but you should accept it.

The "article" was hilarious. I loved Morrowind and Oblivion and I'm sure I'll love Skyrim too but they all had their flaws. If anything Bethesda probably closed topic to avoid in incoming flamefest from insulted fans.

you should have been a moderator.

  2. uhm guys on the xbox you have the 2 buttons above the triggers where you can add any kind of favorite! like shouts! or spells! and on pc you can bind 1 to 0 so you can instantly cast spells!

at least thats from one of the interviews or video's

with fully equipped hands, you can still shout. as for the other hotkeys for PC that's extra quick equip item options.

  3. So I was just thinking..... In Oblivion you could have a sword /axe /staff etc. and a shield equipped at the same time, but still use a spell in your shield hand. Is that still the case in Skyrim or do you have to have only a spell equipped in your hand to use it? I mean I love the idea of dual wielding, but I don't think spells should count as an wielding option you should just be able to use it unless your equipping two.

then play Oblivion and let the rest of us enjoy Skyrim

  4. not sure anyones pointed this out yet or not, but we have already been to the summerset isle in oblivion. Summerset isle is mankar camerons paradise.

No summerset ilse is not Mankar's Paradise.

    -1. its populated by dadera

-2. no other high elves are there ( minus mankar's kids and on or two cult memebers)

-3. If mankar's paradise was on summerset, then why didn't we just take a ship? why did we have to risk our lives for for the last Great Welyend stone? Why did we endanger Bruma to a kvatch fate? Becasue Cameron's paraidise was its own plane. Like thier were planes for each oblivion gate.

-4. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Summerset_Isle where does it say " oh and Cameron's paradise is located in a cove near Skywatch".

    Fail

  5. I too think the positive changes in Skyrim far outweigh the negative. That being said, the first person's comment is still COMPLETELY true.

i agree with this statement

I agree with your statement that you agree. That said, I think the first person's comment is completely true. :psyduck:

I'm Barack Obama and I approve this message.

love it  have a kudos!

edit: nevermind i already gave you one for some other post. :(

  6. Wheres Akavir and do you think it could be a DLC for Skyrim

-Akavir is a whole other continent, across the ocean to the east of Tamerial. So....no it couldn't be a dlc for Skyrim.

-For someone with with over a hundred posts on the Nexus, paticulrly one about the Elder Scrolls, don't you think it would be in your best interest to read some of the many sites with lore on the series?

    - Fail, on behave of your question

  7. Perfect Kudos to Post ratio... now he can't ever post again. You happy now modder3434?

    yes i am.

" for standing up in the face of tyranny of perfect post to kudos ratio..."

" for being sarcastic on the web..."

" for taunting me to reply via Nexus Forums..."

" I the modder3434 here by bestow upon you.... a kudos"

" i salute you sir!"

  8. Well that kid from gamestop must be pretty stupid considering the fact that the DLC for Fallout, Fall Out New Vegas, and Oblivion basically makes up for them coming out with another game in less than four years. The way the economy is now in my opinion is that people are looking to hold on to games longer and want to get the best quailty for the buck. Gamestop kid just sounds like a Troll Hater.

    [/quote/]

i agree! have a kudos!

also i noticed that this is your first post. Welcome to the Nexus Forums!

  9. The only bad thing I have to say about Bethesda is they really are shoving the ACTION! ACTION! ACTION! thing down peoples throats and while I can dig that Elder Scrolls is a role playing game not a first person shooter.

Obviously I don't have the game in hand so I cannot guarantee what I'm about to say, but based upon what information has been released, Skyrim contains more "non-ACTION!" content then any of the previous TES games. Cooking, Farming, Woodcutting, Hunting (in a more practical sense) are all vastly expanded upon. I wouldn't be surprised if they manage to put quite a few quests that don't require much combat (they have existed in every game so far).

I think you're a bit confused simply because this game isn't out yet. All the content you "see" in previews generally consist of someone fighting things. It is the same reason you see mostly battle scenes in the Lord of the Rings trailers.

In fact, the ability for you to "Role-Play" should be increased in every way. The entire way you build your character, your reputation, etc... is purely based on your actions now as opposed to pre-determined decisions you make once when you generate your toon. I don't see how that is anything except "MORE" roleplaying. But maybe I'm confused? I'm pretty sure the term roleplaying has nothing to do with putting +5 in Agility...

Well said! kudos coming your way!

  10. i agree with you guys, but some stupid guy from gamestop said skyrim will be the last game in the elder scrolls because they can't compete with other game companies because it takes them 4 years per game, and all other companies are pushing games out every year or two like fable etc. so bethesda is loosing a lot of money over their huge games.

in the long run people want a quality game, not the pos that other game companies are mas producing every year or every other year. that guy at gamestop needs to shut his mouth on stuff like this.

  11. Personally... if I wanted to spend my time in a menu all game (Morrowind and Daggerfall) I would agree with the first guy... but in all honesty, Skyrim and Oblivions ability to take most of that pause-equip-cast-pause-equip-strike-pause-equip-cast crap is gone.

I loved morrowind... and I played the hell out of it. I had the numbers crunched and I could REALLY get into the spreadsheets... but when it was most fun, was with a Blk-Wht-Blk-Wht-A-B cheat (xbox)... just run around, cast and kill. No staring at numbers, no need to enchant 50 different rings to take on Ur Tower. And best of all... if you REALLY didnt belong there, the enemies would kill you in 1 hit anyways. Morrowind was a better GAME to play. It was deep, and you could count your rewards.

Daggerfall was OVERKILL- It was a board game on the screen. SOOOO many different numbers and so specific as to when they were useful that they couldnt ever be truely useful.

Oblivion- I have a harder time playing it now because the graphics are so lagged behind. But Oblivion evoked something that we havent seen in previous TES games... EMOTION. I was never connected to NPC characters in a TES game before. It was strictly business. In Oblivion, there was sacrifice, and attachment. Something that really anchored you to a questline. In that they had to take away the "strictly business" side of the spreadsheets too. If you have a knife... you can hit a person with it. PERIOD. No more swinging and having a chance even though you sneak up on the person. Likewise, spells were made "jedi" style where they were an extension of you, nothing truly "magikal" or arcane. Everything was shaped to keep you IN the game and out of the menu. But inevitably people were still swapping for the "best" equipment, rather than wearing or using what they want.

Skyrim strives for true realism. Minimizing the need to scour through countless charts and numbers that in the end are merely symbols for more abstract things you already knew. Now all the attributes are hidden in throughout the 3 major attributes and the perk trees. Skills have been cut & simplified, but then techniques have been added. Skills within skills. If you look superficially at the game Skyrim has 18 skills. But even if you were to only say each skill had 2 branches of technique (where most truly have 3 or 4) then you would have 36 skills (Which is more than Morrowind). But in reality... a person who swings a bat will be able to swing an axe and still have the same brute strength behind it. However, technique would teach how to properly make use of an axe to make it more effective, the balance, the strengths, weaknesses, speed... everything. Now sure an axe is an easy comparison, but lets talk about our block tree. Many would think you only block with a shield, but that is functional fixedness. There are 3 branches for 3 techniques. Offense, speed and defense. You bash and charge and can slow time allowing for a strong offensive use. Then there is the actual speed of your block and how quickly you can raise your shield (no doubt essential). Then there is the different types of blocking... arrows, riposte (parry), and elemental magic, each of which would require a different knowledge of how a shield works compared to how to knock someone in the face with a shield. Also on top of the new interpretation of the numbers menus they are bringing back the intensity and dedication of magic. It is knowledge that requires study and understanding, not just something that you will out of you. And they also are giving us the ability to use the armor that we want to use without feeling like its second hand. Upgrading armors and weapons lets that leather armor stay "good" longer to the point that it might even be possible to use it through the entire playing experience. Spellmaking always was paying money for an over-the-top spell... why not just SELL over-the-top spells? The "RPG" aspect is stepping away from the long drawn out spreadsheets and actually going to represent what it stands for. ROLE- be who you want, where you want, doing what you want. PLAYING- not menuing or spreadsheeting, playing. GAME- an alternate reality, where anything is possible and the player has control.

i agree with this statement too. Good arguement. Good Compare and Contrast. have a kudos (assuming i already didn't give you one.)

  12. todd howard says fallout and TES are there two franchises they plan to do back to back.. I dont see them killing off their only child .. fallout was adopted after all

shhh!!! we don't talk about that, what if Fallout 3 found out? lol

  13. Absolutely not. Everyone still wants to go to Valenwood, Elsweyr, and the Shimmering Isles.

And Black Marsh, I suppose. If you're into that sort of thing.

it's called the Summerset Isle, not the simmering isles  , your thinking of Shivering isles and we already have been there.

damn took to long to post you beat me Hazard.

  14. woooooow!

Flooding the whole world, gathering two of each creature onto your ark! ;D (2 dragons? )

until the two dragons ate all of the other animals, then you would have a reign of fire thing going on after the water lowerd.

  15. So does the Russian version have the art book and the amulet both? I'd pay the $32 + shipping that it would cost to get it here. That's a heck of allot better deal than the US version with it's clunky $150 statue that I don't want. :/

well no one forced to to buy the collector's edition (or forcing you if you haven't). :armscrossed: So stop complaining, besides i don't know one person who would wear that out in public day after day.

Hi, my name is Elder III, I would wear that in public. Now you know one person. ;) Of course, I wouldn't wear it every day, but if it's not too large to wear comfortably I would wear it on a semi-regular basis.

sticking it to me huh? well played . have a kudos.

  16. i find that since the idea with skyrim is that we can be what we place in our hands, that the new attribute system works well with it. simplify the options with combat, and simplify the attributes that would go well with the simplified combat system. In skyrim i can use what ever i what, even though its encouraged to pick a blade or blunt for one-handed weapons solely. in oblivion if i didn't select what i wanted to use at the beginning of the game it got left out until i made a new character. in skyrim i can be everything, at anytime without tedious leveling and getting my ass kicked. Bottom line this new system sounds better then the old one.
  17. Their really should have been some kind of middle ground between regular and collectors edition. Like Regular(map and game); Collector Edition (the amulet, map, and game); and then Super-Massive TES Junkie Edition (12" statue, artbook, map, Making Of DVD, game).

people are already indecisive as it is. you give them more then two choices and they would have a melt-down because they don't know what to do.

  18. So does the Russian version have the art book and the amulet both? I'd pay the $32 + shipping that it would cost to get it here. That's a heck of allot better deal than the US version with it's clunky $150 statue that I don't want. :/

  19. pre-ordered the collector's edition, since i waited a little bit before it came out it said it would show up at the earliest on Nov. 17  anyway i can wait, and then i play it until i have to leave my computer screen to avoid starvation. :P
  20. I would say the best way to not be disapointed is to know as much about the game before you play it.. dynamic wouldnt frighten people so much if they read up on what todd and pete have to say on it .. its a really simple system .. you dont have a quest .. and your in a situation that fits the dynamic quest they have set up .. then it kicks in and your given a dynamic quest through an NPC you know or a randomly generated type of quest "think fallout 3 and the random stuff you could run into like the alien signal and the chinese radio" .. its not some new crazy tech .. its just a new way of using randomization and statistics to give the player a more unique playthru.

    what he said

good explanation dude, have a kudos.

  21. 2 hours doesn't mean anything. They were level 4 and 7 when they finished it. They experienced a few % of the game during the speedrun. Probably no more than 5% of the game were experienced through it.

If 2 hours means 5% of the game, then Skyrim will be 40 hours before you fully finished everything. But yeah, my reaction on the speedrun was slightly exagerated.

EDIT: My posts were retarded, I fully apologise :D You were right and I was wrong.

5% of the main quest was what I meant, sorry. :P

Yes, they say 30 hours, but who in their rights mind goes through ONLY the main quest without any sidetracks? ;D

I'm a bit precarious about things developers say. I'm not going to be surprised if the main quest is only 20 hours or less:p.

the developers are saying less about the game, in way of overselling it, then they did with oblivion. relax, a little and have some faith.
