  1. not really no. The notification is based on scripts and sometimes those scripts are fast and sometimes there slow. Other times they are just right .

speed is relevant to the quality of your PC, number of mods with scripts, and a certain amount of luck that Murphy doesn't show up and bust your game.

  2. I have no vast experiance about mods that enhace textures, lighting and whatnot, mostly becasue I play on a laptop (for all my games) and skyrim pushes the limit.

However in regards to lighting try: Enhanced Lights and FX

As for what mods to use...it depends on what you want in the game :

    Immersion? try:

    Hunterborn

    Immersive Jewlery

    Skyrim Wayshrines

    Immersive Weapons

    Immersive Armors

    Legendary Cities - TES Arena

    Matys Mithril

    Knights of the Nine Armor

    Lore Weapon Expansion

    Fantasy Reader? try:

    LOTR- Gimil's Battle Axe

    LOTR Crown of the Witch-King

LOTR Crown of the King (Aragorn)

    LOTR Elven Hunting Knife

    LOTR The One Ring

    Royal Armor of Aragorn

    Isilmeriel LOTR Weapon Collection

    Enpremis Galadhrim Gear

    Noldor Content Pack

    MERP's Gondorian Armament

Game of Thrones Armor Pack plus Weapons

    Quests and Adventures? try:

    Wyrmstooth

    Salem

    Agent of Righteous Might

    Helgen Reborn

keep in mind these are just a few possible catorgies and suggestions, and that the search button will be your guide to find anything.

Also just a tip these mods/ utilites should be installed anyway:

SKSE - Skyrim Script Extender : used by tons of mods, best to get early even if the mods you use currently don't require it to run

Unofficial Skyrim Patch : fixes issues in main game

Unofficial Dawnguard Patch : fixes issues in DLC Dawnguard

Unoffical Hearthfire Patch : fixes issues in DLC Hearthfire

Unoffical Dragonborn Patch : fixes issues in DLC Dragonborn

SkyUI : overhauls the menus in Skyrim, making them more PC user friendly, plus some overhauls need SkyUI to use the Mod Configuration Menu (built in to SKyUI), requires SKSE to use.

This was a mod list I made yesterday, links included. At the very least get the batch of mods/ utilities above as they will provide a good base for more modding. for everything else USE THE SEARCH BUTTON....IT IS YOUR FRIEND...IT DOESN"T BITE.....SEARCH BUTTONS ARE FRIENDS, NOT TOOLS....

  3. its not necessarily regular mods that add x, y or z such as armor or weapons, that are the culprit. Since hardware wise your computer is fine,it may be due to script heavy mods, especially any mods you used and got rid of.

Skyrim is a fighter and whenever you remove a mod that has scripts some of that lingering code will run to your savegame and proceed to bug the hell out of it.

post your modlist, so we can see what mods may being causing the problem either script wise or due to conflicts.

  4. So basically its just the power hungry, evil 1% who have no qualms about anything and everyone else has a limit?.... interesting, I hadn't thought of it like that.

Is this why your the resident lore master?

  5. Assuming you just made an update, or bug fixes etc... then you could upload that as a separate file ( esp based on the original and or added assets) And title it appropriately.

Such as "big awesome mod by talentedmodmaker update/ bug fix" and require that the original file be downloaded to work (since the only thing in your file is a updated esp and any added meshes or textures from you)

ex. Skyrim.esm, bigawesomemod.esp, bigawesomemodUPDATE.esp (which requires the original to use),.....

Genrally a bugfix and things along that nature aren't to be worried about, especially if the author is dead, banned, vanished etc, as long as you don' rehost any of the orgianl mod without permission.

  6. Well to be fair.....

Your using the wrong input system. Its much easier to game on a PC with a keyboard.

However it has to do with that controllers aren't really meant to be played with hot keys and what not. MCM says its bound because you hit a button that had no other use (according to MCM), thus MCM says all systems go even if the button won't work in practice.

    it should be asked though:

    1) have you used similar style hotkeys on the controller successfully before?

    2) did you properly install all mods in question, SkyUI with MCM, SKSE, and Duel Wield Parry?

    3) assuming they are all installed correctly, are they all up to date?

4)could you provide a mod list to help trouble shoot as you may have a mod conflict?

    5) have I answered all of your questions today, and did you receive good customer service? - this one's a joke, South Park Vindaloop....

  7. The problem with that hypothesis is it doesn't work within the laws of the setting. Talos couldn't just come down and start handing out God-Cards. No one can MAKE someone else a god. They can try to help others along, as Vivec did to Hjalti/Talos, but godhood is something that by its very nature has to be acheived by the individual.

The basic stance of the Dominion and the Thalmor shows that they understand this. To the Empire, Talos was elevated to Godhood by the other Divines. The Dominion disputes this... And they are technically right. The Divines cannot make you a god. Talos is still a God by his own hand, mind you, which is a different issue...

It's also something of a misnomer to say they want to become gods in the first place. Some may think this way, though Ancano seems to indicate that there is a wider understanding of the mechanics at play. At Tue very least, the upper echelons of the Thalmor don't think that way. It's not an issue of becomming gods, it's an issue of destroying mortallity. To them, Mortality is an abomination that's poisoning the Aubris, and they seek to errase it entirely.

Ok fair enough this isn't a super solid hypothesis and I know godhood in the Elder Scrolls doesn't work that way.... but my point is that the thalmor are still hypocritical and really only out for themselves.

Maybe they don't want to be gods perse...but if there goal is to eradicate mortality, so that everyone still remaining on Nirn will be immortal, that by itself could be seen as a very noble goal.

However, as has been defined (according to earlier replies) to eradicate mortality will require the genocide of man basically, and the thalomor are willing to pay that price....but (and knowing it probably won't work this way in practice) would

the thalmor still be willing to commit genocide to eradicate mortality if it was any other race besides men? I would answer yes, even if it was other elven races, but if it was the altmer on the sacrificial altar of mortality, would they do it?

No they wouldn't ,because they don't truly believe in eradicating mortality, they only believe in it, so far as they can benefit from it.

******as for Talos achieving godhood by his own hand....that is a whole other thread just waiting to be started.....*****

  8. To answer the OP's orginal question: No the Thalmor don't worship Sithis.

While others have answered that the thalmor wish to regain their divinity, which is kinda true, but I'm thinking this.....

    modder3434's theory:

the thalmor do what they do, not out of faith but out of greed. They looked at the religons of Nirn and picked this one becasue it offers the most/best benifit(s)...

Becoming a god of the world.....assuming they successfully destroy man and talos. however I'd bet all my septims that if Talos showed up and offered godhood imedialty to all who wanted it, all the thalmor would do a 180 and praise Talos.

thus the thalmor (and others who share in their views) are nothing more then godless, souless, compassionless, hearltess opportunits who stand for nothing but themselves.

  10. Great idea! Never actually thought about that before. So, I'm doing it right now! Some of them don't look that good on their own, and I don't think malacath's sword is a complete mesh (as in his where his hands are holding the sword - there is no sword, if that makes any sense lol) But, boethiah's sword is looking promising!

excellent! I'm glad I caught someones attention who knows how to seperate meshes (something that I haven't learned yet)

I did notice that on Malacath's sword, but if I'm being honest the akatosh and boethiah's swords were the ones that i was eyeing.

will you upload a test file when you have the mesh?

EDIT: if you want I could texture it after posting I looked at your mods, it seems you have no trouble creating textures as well...but the offer still stands.

  11. So has anyone else noticed the several weapons that are apart of the various statues in the game...and wonder why they aren't avalible to use:

    - Sword from Boethith's statue

    - Sword from the Akatosh shrine

    - Sword from Malacath's statue

I guess my question is has anyone been able to seperate those models from the rest of the mesh?

  12. Is this still being worked on? I so would love to have this in my game! The work you have done on it looks awesome!

yes this mod is still being worked on, but its going rather slow (and boring thus no new WIP pics). My real life is speeding up and I don't have as much time to goof off and mod as I used to (almost done with college, and interning for a job)

Suffice to say this and a New Reno mod for New Vegas are my babies at the moment and development will be long...and painful...but it will yield great mods (hopefully), so please be patient...it can't be rushed....and thank you :)

  13. Despite the fact that the Lone Wanderer is named "Albert" in Fallout 3 previews, and is shown in promotional images as being a Caucasian male with brown hair, there has never been any mention or statement (not even in Fallout New Vegas) that this hero is a male, thank God. I for one do like playing a female character in Fallout 3. Bethesda has a habit of revealing their game heroes race/gender, and they really need to stop doing this. Why? For one, I think it's a bit racist, and secondly, the hero of an RPG is suppose to be player choice. Setting a hero's gender and even their race in stone is taking away the freedom of the game, not to mention there's not much replay value there. Hence Morrowind; the hero is a Male Dunmer. When I found that out, it pretty much ruined the game for me. Then I find out that the heroes of the first two Fallout games are male! Knock it off Bethesda! I swear, if the Lone Wanderer is ever revealed as a male by canon, I will never play another Bethesda title as long as I live. Cheers!

    COTD

ok, this is kind of ridiculous. In general when the lore/canon is written they they to stay with the name of the player character, or rather what made that character special, (Neverine, Champion of Cyrodil, Dragonborn, Lone Wanderer, Courier Six etc) which tends to be gender neutral, however when writing, it becomes almost impossiable not to use pronouns. "He" just tends to be the default when writing rather then "She".

As for the canon coming out and saying what race and gender....who cares, but think of it this way. Take into account the time period and the location of the game.

-- In Morrowind, they aren't going to retell the story of the Argonion Neverine who caled herself, Lizzie, rather they will picture a strong, male, anoymous Dunmer who was the one who was promised and he who delievered them fromt the snares of Red Mountain when the story is retold

    - In Cyrodil, they aren't going to tell of the the tale of the Orc Coc whose name is Smashing gro-Smash, rather they will picture the majestic Imperial in his shining steel plate armor who aided the last Septim Emperor in closing the Oblivion Gates forever.

Bottom line it depends on the time, in Elder Scrolls its a medevil /fantasy game, males tended to dominate those areas of society. As for Fallout, its the 1950's with advanced tech, there was plenty seperation of the races in the 50's, though granted in a wasteland raveged by nucler bombs...yor color of skin matters very little...so in this case its probably just to appeal to the greatest base of people who play the game.

  14. Guild Starter ,search it on Skyrim Nexus

you can have your guild members (followers or whoever you choose) do a mulitude of tasks, one of which is gathering materials of all sorts such as ore, wood etc.

its quite fun, my guild is a homage to a web series, we are the Knights of Good!

  15. what mods were you installing and did you look for them in the right place?

meaning...what mod retexture did you install? if it was a retexture of a glass sword, did you look at a glass sword before determining if it was working?

also did you manuelly install or NMM install? sometimes NMM can be wonky and if you installed manully then its possiable you put the files in the wrong place.

FYI there is no "conformation" that a texture mod was installed... you have to confirm it by sight.

  16. Hello Nexus,

Whenever I'm in Chorrol I stop to look at the statue, the one with the woman holding her slain son/ husband/ family member

anyway, I notice that the helmet that is a part of the statue looks awesome. Is there a mod that has made that helmet playable ?

I'm aware of the Statue Weapon and Armor Resource by ElderScrollsFan, but it as of yet does not include armor except for a few shields.

So I guess the point is...is there a mod that makes that Greek style helmet playable, if so could someone direct me to it or could someone make it so.

(I'm aware that its a combo of a mod discussion and mod request, move the thread if needed)

  17. so each day when I play, Id have to redo the name trick?

(just wanting to make sure I udnerstand right)

yes, short of using the Convenient Horse mod and/or opening the Creation Kit and renaming them

it may get tedious, but it won't cause game bloat, or take a spot in the number of mods Skyrim can run before going wonky (general limit is 60, some people reported getting up to 150 without bashing them together)
