  1. Anyone have any ideas? I'm wanting to install some different idle and walk animations for UNP, but I'm waiting till I get a handle on what may be going on. Thanks for any assistance...
  2. That seems to have done it- I'm running all the 2K texture packs now without the freeze - THANK YOU Dumitas for the link!!
  3. I've seen mention on a few different mod threads something about an "endless loading screen bug" - can someone give an example of what this looks like? I ask because the first time I tried launching my game after installing the "Skyrim HD 2K Textures" mod (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/607/?), I'm occasionally getting a FREEZE after about 20 seconds of the loading screen (the swirling fog and the model freezes, as does the tips text display) - when I look in Task Manager Skyrim is "Not Responding" and needs to be terminated. I uninstalled (via NMM) the entire 2K Textures Pack but still occasionally (every 5th or 6th time I launch) get the same freeze behavior, which doesn't seem to make any sense. Anyone have any ideas? Don't THINK this is specific to the 2K Textures mod (since it's currently uninstalled but the behavior is still occurring) but... (((shrug))).
  4. I recently started a fresh, new load of Skyrim, and the first tjhing I did (after getting the Unofficial Patch and the Unofficial HD patch) was update the main player model using the UNP body. Before I did anything else, to make life easier, I use the UNP Replacer Configuration Package mod (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/20884/?) and installed it via the Nexus Mod Manager. On install of the Replacer Package, I am able to select a body, skeleton, breast physics, etc. After install, I re-run "Generate FNIS" to make sure the animation scripts are enabled - I always get two possible errors when running Consistence Check in FNIS, both related to a "jump back" animation. After all this is done, I launched Skyrim via SKSE. Right from initial opening scene, my character body show the appropriate meshes and skins and look good - the PROBLEM is in the ANIMATIONS. At random times (typically when changing direction with the movement keys), I'll be running along fine, and then for a few seconds it's like the game forgets the animation files - the model stands up straight with the splayed arms and legs (no animation), then a few seconds later starts running again all on its own. It's not BREAKING anything, but it's distracting as HELL and I'd like it gone if possible. Please let me know if you need a screenshot of my NMM load order screen - I've installed several other mods since then and none seem to affect this weird animation behavior (good or bad). ANY help with this would be very much appreciated - thanks!! EDIT: Was just playing, and noticed the same behavior in enemies/NPCs as well! WTF???
  5. Question (sorry if this was covered somewhere in the past in this very large thread)... I have a weapons rack in the Windhelm house that, when I removed the currently-placed weapon, no longer displays the "Hit "E" to activate" prompt, regardless of whether or not I have a weapon equipped. Now that plaque cannot be used. Sadness! 1. Can I either REACTIVATE it with a console command, or perhaps REPLACE it with a new, active weapons display plaque? 2. Can I place additional plaques (or the larger, floor-mounted weapons stands) on open walls? I can see a few places where it looks like they'd fit. Thanks in advance!
  6. 5 But that's precisely the thing... by repeating the same few things over and over and over and over it calls attention to how FAKE she really is! I tried the MOD linked to and it's LOTS better - she now only says a few things, not the constant repetitive chatter. Thanks for the suggestion....
  7. http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=746 That'll take care of this one mostly.... -MM Nothing will remove the companion babble though? Grrrr...
  8. Can someone recommend a MOD that will STFU the way-too-talkative NPCs? I could have sworn I saw a MOD file for this on the Nexus a while back but I can't find it now. What I'm NEEDING in a MOD is: 1. Something that will stop random NPCs from wandering past while I'm talking to a quest NPC (like the Jarl fer chrissake) and interrupting with random BS like "I sell the best belly-lint sweaters in all of Skyrim! Would you like to but one?" Jeez... STFU already!!!! 2. Something that will ALSO STFU your companions. I didn't notice how bad random companion chatter was until I took Mjol along as a companion... I swear to GOD if I have to listen to her talk about her father taking her to Morrowind to hunt cliff racers or about how her MOTHER taught her her SWORD FIGHTING TECHNIQUES (can you IMAGINE????????????????????????)I'm gonna kill her myself. Any help is vastly appreciated.... =) -Matt
  9. That's what I figured - just checking, in case I missed it. Thanks!
  10. Question for you MOD experts out there: One of my favorite Fallout MODs was a "backpack" item that allowed the player to carry several different amounts of gear without adding to their overall encumbrance. Oblivion had the same MODs, as well as a "Bag of Holding/Inter-dimensional Safe" type MOD that allowed the player to store unlimited amounts of stuff in a single item. This was nice but not as realistic (IMHO) as the backpack, which only allowed the user to carry ADDITIONAL (not unlimited) gear. I checked the Nexus but didn't find anything using search terms like "backpack" or "Bag of Holding" - has no-one made such a MOD for Skyrim yet or is such a thing dependent on the availability of the Creation Toolkit? Thanks in advance!
  11. Just keep choosing the install option, after 20-30 tries it will work. Sadly those audio drivers didn't work for me though, good luck. Yeah after the 30-somethingth try it worked, but the audio drivers did not fix the problem :'( . I give up, i'll still follow the thread but this game can go to hell. Just go play something else for a while and come back - they'll get it soon, I'm sure. Not worth getting worked up over - there are plenty of games in the world. Actually, if they see their player base declining all of a sudden, perhaps it will light the fire under them to fix it sooner...
  12. Whelp... now I'm COMPLETELY FUBARed. Can't play AT ALL. If I try to Fast Travel from WHiterun, I CTD in the loading screen. If I try to leave via the gate, I CTD at the load screen. If I *do* make it outside (2 of my 7 attempts), I CTD while running outside after about 30 seconds (before I can even get off the hill). Disabled all my MODs (even the ones that had been running 50, 60, or more hours without a hitch) but no dice. CTDs are everywhere. Has anyone tried uninstalling the app and reloading from the installation DVD? Did it help? I see thrads asking for help with non-loading Save game files. Very frustrating...
  13. I installed the 3D Map MOD and it's really cool and all... MOST of the time. However, since the map renders with whatever current weather effect is running (as per the dox), often I can't see ANYTHING except a bunch of map markers, floating in a pearly mist. The dox say to type in "fw 15e" into the console to clear the weather effects but nothing happens. Does anyone know how to clear the weather mist from the map once and for all? Thanks --Matt
  14. I've tried it but I can't get it working on 64-bit (the file says it has issues with it). :( If anyone managed to get it running on WIn-7 64 LMK how you accomplished it. -M
  15. Probably won't help until Bethesda gets around to Large Address Awareness in the core .EXE. I just had to remove all such MODs for the time-being - I wasn't getting crashes with 6GB but the high-rez textures wouldn't load and so the meshes were just plain black or not skinned at all. :(
  16. Oops - posted a similar thread just now (didn't see this one) at: http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/499034-wtf-is-up-with-all-the-ctds/ I, too have been getting a lot of CTDs, mainly when Fast-Travelling but occasionally when transitioning between cells (with transition screen, not when running around thorough exterior cells). It started a few days ago - was that when the patch dropped? -matt
  17. WTF is up with all the CTDs all of a sudden? I used to play for hours without issues, but lately I've been crashing every 20-40 minutes, almost always when Fast-travelling or, occasionally, when transitioning between an interior/exterior cell. PC is a Win7 64-bit maching with 6GB of RAM. Was running the game fine until about a week ago. Did they patch something and f*** it up? Because... this IS Bethesda and that wouldn't be the first time that has happened. Any advice on how I can possibly reduce the number of CTDs (besides never Fast-travelling) would be greatly appreciated. -Matt
  18. Does anyone have issues with the Breezehome house in Whiterun getting "trashed" while they're away? I spend time putting things on shelves and arranging Ingredients on the table beside the Potions station, only to return and find them scattered around the floor. At one point I was sure I'd been burglarized because some items I'd left arranged on a shelf beside the main firepit were gone and (I assumed) stolen - it turned out they were UNDERNEATH the chest of drawers below the shelf. I think my housecarl drinks in the afternoons and, in a nord mead-fueled rage, trashes the place. =) Anyone see this? Anyone FIXED this somehow? I have the house with 100% upgrades. Thanks! -Matt
  19. Did you tell the housecarl to follow you when you were in the palace? She's usually there, eating or standing by the door waiting for you. Once you have her as a follower, telling her "We need to part ways" should send her back to the Breezehome house. What's weird for ME is that she does not go to the room with the "owned" bed (which I can't sleep in) but rather she chills out in MY ROOM (the one with the chest and the bed I can actually sleep in). I think she's sending me a signal... Yeah, baby. :P
  20. Sooooo... how will that be LAA-aware then, if 4GB is the cap? That seems contradictory (sorry). What am I missing? Some MODs (mainly texture replacers with high resolutions) absolutely rely on >4GB RAM, otherwise all you see are black or empty textures. I've got 6GB installed currently.
  21. I see comments on the "Skyrim4GB" mod discussion/comments page to the effect that a version of the main launch .EXE with "Large Address Awareness" enabled will be coming soon from Bethesda. If so, it means that no additional MODs or special .DLLs will be required to make use of system memory above 4GB, yes? I ask because I've never managed to get Skyrim4GB running on my Win-7 64-bit edition machine but want to make maximum use of the resources I paid for on the system (naturally). Can anyone confirm (or better link to) Bethesda's plans to fix the core app so that those of us with 64-bit systems and/or more than 4GB of installed RAM can play the game using all available memory? Thanks! -Matt
  22. OK, I know I'l feel stupid for asking this, but... I have the Eagle Eye skill which is supposed to zoom the bow when "block button is pressed with bow drawn". Problem is, you can't block with a bow - onthe PC, Rt.Button is a Bash, and when I press Rt.Button with the bow drawn nothing happens. I checked the Controls list and there's no way I'm seeing to re-assign "block" to a specific control - I believe the intention is that Rt.Button will do that so long as you don't have a 2H weapon equipped (like a bow or dual wielding weapons). So... what am I missing? (((braces self to feel idiotic once the simple solution is presented...))) Thanks!
  23. Different companions have different abilities. Some sneak... some fight... some shoot arrows. Best thing to do is try a few and see if they compliment your play style. As a sneaky archer/thief, I do best with companions who also sneak well, since if a hostile detects my companion they usually detect ME (and, hence, I lose my substantial "Hidden" attack bonus). Just depends on how you play, so go out and help the Skyrim economy by hiring some unemployed henchies! :)
