I can't download the nexus mod manager or any mods
teamster replied to Griffinpowers's topic in Site Support
This fixed my problem. It works! If you are using Google Chrome: Locate the "Local State" file (enter %LocalAppData%\Google\Chrome\User Data\ in the Windows Explorer address bar). Open the file in a text editor such as Notepad while Google Chrome is closed. Search for "nxm" (Click Ctrl+F and enter nxm). Delete the line that says "nxm": false (if true, still delete the line). Save the file. Next time you click the Download with Manager button, Chrome should pop-up a dialog asking to launch the application registered for nxm links. Click Launch. -

I am by no means an expert. But I can try to help you till the cavalry arrives. What browser do you use? Did you trying holding down ctrl+alt and clicking the file to download? I had a problem with google chrome and its downloading "app". I had to reset something in the google folder. Maybe same issue? -
"Starting Over" with Fallout 4 + Mods.

Thanks for the responses guys. I only have ever downloaded mods thru nexus, this website. I am wondering the same thing Purr, how the heck is NMM showing the mods I had installed before the re-install of windows? Is it some fail-safe that NMM has? Are you thinking I need to download them all again and activate them - even tho NMM says I have them and are running (green check marks)? Should I uninstall and reinstall NMM? -
Hello. I have a few questions and maybe someone can point me in the right direction. I recently had to re-install windows 8 (updated to 8.1) and I wiped it clean. Wanted a fresh start. I didn't save any data. I reinstalled FO4 via Steam. I reinstalled NMM. All the mods I had installed prior are showing up in NMM. How is that possible? I haven't downloaded a single mod! I thought I wiped my windows clean ;) Have the mods been automatically installed? They have green check marks next to them. But, when I go to the "plug ins" column the only thing there is the 'Fallout 4.esm'. I went into my Fallout 4 folder in the steamapps section and couldn't find any mods in there. Is that where they would go? Sorry for the newbie questions, but I want to play FO4 again with all the mods I had previously. I think it's amazing NMM 'remembered' what mods I had before :) Awesome! Thanks again...

Thanks for the speedy response. Makes sense. The last 3 mods i installed were all "cosmetic" stuff. Better Settlers, Better looking raiders, and the pony tail mod. I am sure those are not easy on the textures. Would you know why I get CTD after uninstalling those via NMM?
-
I apologize ahead of time. I would rather straight up ask then search thru 100 pages of useful information on this site. I recently added my 33rd 34th 35th mod. Ever since, I have been getting the dreaded stuttering issue, mostly outdoors, making the game almost unplayable. I tried trouble shooting by uninstalling the mods one by one using NMM. I get CTD instead of the loading screen. So I re-installed them and the game runs, but the stuttering still exists. I was just wondering if their is such a thing as "too many" mods that would cause this sudden FPS drop. The game was running fine with around 30 mods.

The update from steam only affects .ESP files not plug-ins correct?
-
I'm more of a lurker than a poster but I just want to say thanks for all the hard work. Keep it up & can't wait for Fallout 4 Nexus :)
-
That's scary. I have over 30 mods installed. If I delete NMM and install the newer version will it remember all the mods and load order? Is there anything I should back up before uninstalling?

Ahhh, just now I was gonna fire up Skyrim for the first time in a long time. I thought I would check NMM for an update and all my mods for updates but cannot connect to server :( Thanks for the news link, I guess I will wait to play until its fixed!

Alright man, thanks for the speedy response! I'll give it a whirl, stay tuned... -
I want to overhaul the NPC/companion looks in the game without sacrificing some mods - does anyone know for sure if the these mods work together? Animated Prostitution / Beware of Girl Body Replacer / Mikotos Beauty / Type_3 Armor Replacer I'm trying to get some nude bodies, nice curves in armor/cloths, better faces, all while using the Animated Prostitution mod. Or does someone have other mod suggestions for what I am looking for? Thanks!

Morrowind noob here...need mod suggestions!

When do I install MGE before or after all the texture fixes, mods, patches, etc? Everything MGE does is standalone from fixes, patches and mods. The only way they would effect each other is through your FPS. I would recommend you patch up your Morrowind files to make sure everything is running as smoothly as possible. Then I would get MGE up and running, and test it for a while before you add any texture replacers, such as Quarl's Visual Pack XT. The reason why is because Morrowind really isn't that stable to begin with FPS wise, and you'd be surprised just how much slowdown you might get from MGE even with vanilla graphics. If you can get 40-50 FPS with the settings you like in Balmora using MGE, then you can consider getting a nice texture pack. Hope that helped! Well I installed a bunch of plugins and mods and MGE. So far so good. I set MGE to run at 60 FPS (most games nowadays are maxed at that when running v-sync anyways). Looks beautiful outdoors but indoors I can't see much of a difference! -

Holy smokes, talk about being over-whelmed! One quick question. I noticed the max resolution for Morrowind is 1280x1024. Is it possible to get higher? Will a specific mod help that? My rig is quite beefy! (Max 1920x1080) -
Hi! Like a previous poster before me, I too am a little late playing this game. I just installed the GOTY edition (Trib & Blood). I have played Fallout3 and Oblivion so I am pretty familiar with Bethesda. I noticed there are over 2,000 files on the TES Nexus, can someone recommend a few "must-have" mods before I start playing?
