  1. Looking into this idea, If you need some help when the (official) development tools are handied out, http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/469476-creation-kit-release-info/I think according to this is January. Anyway I've done some work on some mods int he past, and still dig it. Sort of Layout would like to concept. Give me a PM, and I'll get back in touch
  2. I also second that you build your own cavern. Highly recommend that.
  3. Is there anyway to get NVSE -editor and GECK powerup to work together? or it one or the other?
  4. OK got it running, had to update my version of geck. Doh. Just downloaded all the updates, havent played in awhile, took the month off to enjoy spring, but pollen is so damn high now. Back to the great indoors. Anyway plugging away.
  5. Im googgling, but only get to the main download page. I use it when I launch FONV, for other mods, but im at the point where Im going to be incorporating it my mod for scripting reasons. Is there any manual that tells you what you need to do out side of geck? Or just use the functions within geck and write them how NVSE would interupt them? I haven't played with this, as you can tell, so I'm curious. I put off not using code that only NVSE would use because of the 4gig limit, but have come to find out the latest release works. So Im gonna go ahead and start designing using the features. Should kick my mod a notch, at least for me anyway, I can have some really simple stuff I wanted to have happen, without bashing my head into my monitor because I couldn;t get something working that NVSE would do, and standard geck wont. Anyway, I'm up for enlightenment if somene can show me the way. BTW, mod is at 77% complete, with my first little miniquest out, if you want to check it out, feedback is alwas a nice thing, good or bad. Cheers
  6. Hey Wayne. Im sorry but I didn;t follow you here. Is there a certain package I need? Audicity? Cause I'm in definite need of voice now. Im approaching version 1.8 now. Would have had it up there a few backs, but its spring, and gorgeous out. So I split from the keyboard to get some fresh air. Except now my allergies have me back in doors. :( So back to geck. Anyway put out a new release today. Im gonna tweak this mini quest, but it should help me enough to get my main quest going. The script for the delivery is now in, and I'll be play testing extensively the next weeks. Once its done though, its only a matter of tying up loose ends around version 190. At 200 its done. So I could definitly use some voice at this point. Not everything is set, but there will be about 40 NPC's that need voices. Everyone in the mod, will get something to say, even if they dont have any dialog. Working the little peices out now. Mostly theres only about 10 major characters. Thats the brunt of the quest people. But I want to have some background info on people and places. Anyway cheers
  7. Actually I just get a kick of running around in my tuxedo, and top hat. (fully modded armor) for my enjoyment. Also kicked the cane up a bit too. :whistling:
  8. Well its spring time, and I've been away from my keyboard more and more. I have a mod thats about 75% complete, and sometimes I just don;t have the motivation to even look at Geck. Especially when the weather is so beautiful. So Im looking for someone to help me keep focused. I won't abandon my project, but I'm also running into some stupid snags. Probable due to my lack of Scripting in this langauge. I am not using FOSE, mainly due to the fact it doesnt support the 4gig mode. Would be a lot easier If I could use it though. Anyway, I have some detailed scripts already, but running into snags at this point. So Im looking for a partner at this point. As far as creation goes the mods overall area's are setup, they still need some more filler, but on a whole their basically done. The more clutter, and functions still need work, but thats minor compared to quest portions. Anyway If anyone intrested in this role, please either PM me, or reply to this thread. I also play another game, so that kinda sucked some of my time up. Theres a ladder going on this month, and I'm in 8th place so far, so I put a lot of time into another place. Would like to start wrapping this mod up though, but do need some help.
  9. I would suggest as more people would probable say the same. Start the project off. On your own. Seriously Im not saying this to be a jerk off. I'm just stating that people helping you, is kinda like asking for world peace by ligting yourself on fire. Didn;t work then either. But your concepts are doable. So start with what you can. Have some fun, and when you get to this point :wallbash: Go for a walk. heres what I did today before GECK ruined my day. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-QIMu43ZEM I love my monster.
  10. Well me and Geck slugged it out today. I managed to give it a wedgie, and lost my hangover. Which was great until I got lost again. BUT, plus side, I was able to finish a very small portion, and now I have my update out. Cooleo's gonna make my vid now, and I can continue with the brutatality of creating. I say brutal, because there is absolutly nothing to this that has a hint of finesse. BUT thats not to say one day it will, and I shall strive for that day. Untill then, Keep modding. Cheers mates. btw it took more then 2 brews too.
  11. I've got Geck pulled over my ears today, ogcourse being hungover doesnt help design work. But anyone else ever get lost in their creation. Mines getting so complicated now. And its really got just a very basic quest. I must have some form of ADD, cause I can;t stay focused. Anyone got any idea's how to stay focused. I got a small flowchart module now to help, but this part of the quest design I'm just getting lost in my own dialog. ANyway props to the designers of Mods with quests. Cheers. ps, this is just my way of stepping away from the monitor today.
  12. Hey Riven, you have a really nice sig. I love the green, but hate the red man. It just doesnt flow. Other then looks outstanding.
  13. Hey Dred. We've all been there bro, just keep slugging along. It will come. Just takes time, patantiance, bottle of rum, hammer, explosives, and a pillow.
  14. Obviously what the poor lad is trying to convey is this. His Mum, put him to bed with some hot milk and honey. He had this most profound dream. And in this wonderful elaborate dream, he had this farout piece of equipment. That just miracoulsy appeared before him. At first look it was an ordinary scanner. But lo and behold, to his astonishment was a tool. That he could actually use. It afforded him the power to make items in a game he so much enjoyed, because he couldn't get over the creation process hurdle. This magical tool will thrust him to the leader of the mods. Which at that point he wet the bed, woke up, and had to post here. I got that anyway from the story. Didn't you?
  15. I like to put my mouse over the icon on my desktop though
  16. @ kieranbhoy, yes Modeling is a grasp I havent learned yet, through my own ignorance.
  17. Just opent he console ~ type this Player.GetPos X Player.GetPos Y Player.GetPos Z
  18. Gimp, and mips are only used in some of the textures I ran across, All the textures have them though. But I only seen a few where they actually were used. I just click generate mips and don;t give a crap about wtf it means. I wouldn't worry about it considering the size and price of drives now a days. If tour trying to be thrifty, then don't generate em for your own use. Should save you 50% of the file size. Now don't ask me if they get used in resizing cause I have no clue. And actually I really don't care what mipmap is. Other then its a check box, so I click it. and something happens. After that, I go into nifskope, and click a flower, and change my picture. then I open this other icon, and grit my teeth. Then something else happens. Then I click another button, and test it. Then I go back to Gimp, and start again, cause something looks like crap. At least in modding experience. Cheers
  19. We really need this thread to be a sticky. What the hell do we have to do, petition nexus? I post in a lot of help me threads this link. But I think it needs to be a sticky. How about a poll. Would that work?
  20. FOMM, its either here or Fallout 3. Theres an extract utility. basically go into geck, find something you want. Edit, and find out the name, open FOMM, then extract. Theres tutorials out there that could help you further, once you do one, you can pretty much do anything then. THe first one is alwas the difficult one. I can do this plus add it back in in about 30 seconds. But thats not the redo of the texture. That can take minutes to hours to days depending on how complex it is. For armor, your looking at days or weeks. Cheers. heres a good thread to make a favorite. Its not a sticky, needs to be though http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/269597-how-to-become-a-modder/
  21. This Thread should be crosslinked with "So you want to be a modder" Good read, and I'll pipe up. I think if you enjoy your own mod first and foremost, that is your inspiration. From what Ive asked over and over during my creation process on, feedback is absolutley shyte here. From a designer point of veiw, you need to check, recheck your mod, because I've asked for playtesters, and that seems that didn't work. Heres what I did find that works well though. Someone wants something, you barter. You do what they ask, and you get a someone to run around, and test something. Might seem a bit odd, but I find this approach to work well, with what I need. Even if it sounds selfish. But the bottom line is, design something far out and fantastick, that people would like to use. This doesnt have to be a pencil that shoots lightening bolts, but if it is so, then mod your hearts content, but take into account there may only be 10% of the people that play that also see your dream of the optimum weapon. So I re-interate, Mod your creation to your specs, and you will alwas be happy. If you don;t like it, then don;t expect others to. If you really enjoy it, then your doing something right. Again the word of the day is MOD. good thread btw.
  22. look at quest VMS42 that has a lot of what you need.
  23. You'll definitly want to look at this http://www.thenexusf...ecome-a-modder/ That should be a sticky.
