  1. Not entirely sure whether this should go here, but I'm putting it here anyway. So, I've had an idea for a Skyrim machinima forming in my head for several months now, and I've started working on a script for it. What I'd like to know is how many people here (or anywhere on the internet) would be interested in watching a fully-voiced Skyrim machinima that isn't a comedy or a parody of something. To be specific, it's going to be a somewhat dark high/heroic fantasy action-adventure story set in a world I've created for the story, but still using Skyrim's assets. The story follows a group of adventurers as they travel in search of an artifact that could turn the tide of the war against the invading army from the south. Here's the backstory so far: Nearly a thousand years ago, the Unification War brought peace to the warring nomadic peoples of the northern territories, uniting them in an alliance under the rule of Andrasha, the warrior queen of the Nanziegan people. Under her rule, the nations of Nanzieger, Keltifan, Noardal and Betait were formed in the north, and began to prosper. Opinion of Andrasha and her deeds were divided, though. Some called her a savior and an honorable leader; others, a tyrant and a murderer. Rumors and conspiracy theories began to crop up among the dissenters- theories that she was a rare sorceress, having used dark magic in her conquest of the north; that the sword she wielded in battle was imbued with dark magic as well, corrupting and killing any it deemed an unworthy wielder, and striking down foes with strange blue-white fire. Eventually, an assassination plot was formed by a splinter group of extremists within the ranks of the dissenters, and carried out. The Nanziegan palace was raided, and Andrasha publicly executed in front of her subjects: beheaded, and her body burned in the public square of the capitol city. Following the murder of the queen, the court was plundered, its treasures and knowledge scattered, stolen or destroyed by the raiders, including Andrasha's sword, the Witchlight. Nanzieger and the other northern countries became a battleground once more, invaded and fought over time, and time again; no unifying force to keep them in check or to repel the armies of the countries to the south. Now, an uneasy peace among the countries of the north that has lasted almost two hundred years is about to be broken once again. This time, though, there are rumors spreading throughout Nanzieger and the rest of the Northlands; rumors that the Witchlight has finally resurfaced, that a warrior who could wield it could lead the Nanziegan people to victory once more, and unify the four nations once again, ushering in a new age of peace and prosperity. The question is: Who could wield such a weapon- one supposed to be cursed, answering only to those it deems worthy? Can it even be found, after being lost for nearly a millennium? Will it and it's chosen wielder even be able to make a difference; and if they can, can all this be done before Nanzieger falls to the invading enemy? If there's enough support for it, it may actually go into production, eventually; but that kind of depends on whether or not people care enough.care enough.
  2. The more I try to work with the Papyrus scripting language in the Creation Kit, the more I come to realize that I'm just not cut out to write my own scripts for Skyrim; I don't have the patience required to learn an entire scripting language from scratch, it turns out. To remedy that, I'm looking for someone who is familiar and competent with the Papyrus scripting language already, to assist me in creating the pilot episode of a Skyrim machinima series using the Creation Kit. Most (if not all) of the scripting would involve animating and coordinating multiple NPC actors in both dialogue scenes and action scenes. The series is currently still in development, and will not go into pre-production (scripting) for a little while yet. While the main characters have been laid out and the script for the pilot episode is now being written, the arc of the entire series is still being planned out. The series itself is a dramatic fantasy action-adventure, following a group of adventurers as they journey across Skyrim on a quest to prevent a second Oblivion Crisis, told over a span of several 7-10 minute episodes. So, if you consider yourself a skilled and competent scripter, and are interested in potentially being part of the project, feel free to reply to this thread or send me a PM about it.
  3. I don't know it this has already been asked, but would you be willing to put together a script that takes control of the first-person camera (I'd assume it's the 1stPCam object in the editor) for use in creating a cinematic camera for cutscenes and the like?
  4. For whatever reason, the 'Doors' check-box in the Show/Hide window of the Creation Kit is grayed out, along with 'Helper Objects' and 'Activators', and I can't figure out why. It's preventing me form creating a teleport door and its corresponding teleport markers. They were accessible previously, but they aren't now. Did I maybe change an imoportant setting by accident, or what?
  5. How do you go about adding more complex facial animation to a character in a scene? I know how to apply the default static expressions like the ones in the actor creation window under the face animation preview tab, but I'm interested in more natural-looking, more fluid expression sequences. Is there also any way to build custom expressions? In the Actor > Face Anim Preview window there are sliders for creating different facial expressions, but there doesn't seem to be any way to save them to be used in an actual scene.
  6. That kind of depends on what you'd consider a good player home for a thief. I'm working on a player home mod right now that's just a modestly furnished one-room cabin, rather than a ridiculously 'overpowered' mansion. I'm planning on releasing it in the next week or so, once I get everything finished up.
  7. Never would've guessed... http://forums.nexusmods.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/wink.gif If I do, I'lll be sure to start a 'hey, look what I figured out how to do' thread about it here; tutorial, scripts, screenshots, and video demo included. I was actually looking at that thread before I created this one. It's certainly a good idea, if a rather convoluted one.
  8. There's something called '1stPCam' under SpecialEffect > CameraShot in the Creation Kit's object window. Anyone know what it is, or what it can do, or what it can be used for, even theoretically? Can it be manipulated using scripts? The Creation Kit Wiki has no entry on it, and I can't find any info on it anywhere else. The reason I'm asking is that I'm trying to create a cinematic moving camera to use for cutscenes, and 1stPCam seems like my best bet, right now; but I don't know anything about it or how to utilize it.
  9. Yeah, that's what I was thinking. It'll be a (compared to Skyrim, anyway) a very small world, though; broken up into relatively compact 'Ages' (distinct areas, or distinct cell groups, in this case) like in the Myst series.
  10. The following scenario is not meant to be consistent with either the Elder Scrolls lore or the Myst lore. It's meant to be its own original story within its own universe; only drawing on certain aspects of each aforementioned universe for the sake of storytelling and entertainment purposes. Picture this: A warm, shallow, azure sea. From it, rises a massive natural rock spire, surrounded by other, smaller spires and floating islands. Built upon, around and within these ancient spires and islands, architecture wedded to the landscape, is a small community; the last remnants of a once-thriving civilization. The residents here are unique; possessed of an ancient and complex form of magic, given to them by the Gods at the beginning of time. Through this gift, they are able to transform themselves at will, taking the form of various creatures; some natural, some unnatural. In the past, they have used this skill in times of conflict, for hiding from invaders and defending their borders from external threats. Until now, that is. Now, the Gift is dying out; inexplicably becoming inconsistent among the population. Over the past decades, fewer and fewer children have been born with it. And, to make matters worse, a new conflict is escalating: A clan long-thought to have died out has returned, intent on revenge and dominance; on righting an age-old wrong done to them by the people of the island spire many generations ago. As the player, you you are thrust into the middle of this whole ordeal; onto the front lines of a rekindled blood-feud thought to be long over. Assisted by a young priestess with extraordinary power, you work to uncover the mystery behind the disappearance of the Gift and to defend the people of the island spire from onslaught and extinction. --- This is obviously just a basic overview of the premise, with a lot of details left out, both about the story and about the gameplay features. I'm also not sure whether I'm actually going to undertake this project or not; I haven't decided yet. If enough people think it would be a cool or interesting mod, then I might. I'd be even more likely to undertake it if people were interested in collaborating and helping out on it, on top of being interested in playing it. So, yeah. What do you all think? Any and all thoughts, comments, questions, criticisms and suggestions are welcome.
