Didn't want to include the renamed weapons in FO3 really. By the variations I meant that the weapons that were actually different, often just had some extra stuff put on, which is how I imagine FO4s weapon crafting system to be. For example having both a 10mm pistol and smg might be replaced by the simple pistol as a base weapon and building on from there, making a small number of base weapons not so unreasonable. If it does turn out like that, then 50 base weapons to work with could mean a very large selection this time around
