While I do think the way Valve handle this(not just with the ridiculous 75% cut), as well, I think pay-to-play(the way they had it set up anyway) was a bad move and I do think Valve was trying to further monopolize the PC gaming market. and am glad to see it gone(and to be fair there are mods I would pay for and if I had the money I would donate like mad).. BUT!!! I feel so bad for most of the mod authors involved(Chesko for one, what happened to him was a crime) and more than a few people went waaaaaaaaay too far and overreacted. And that's nothing to be proud of. Sending death threats and the like to someone because they got caught up in the idea of getting paid for their passion(which is not an evil thing for f**k sake) and who had the best intentions, was just wrong. I was torn, while on the one hand I thought it a bad to be a bad idea forcing a paywall on mods, and I was/am not for it, but at the same time..some mods I'd pay for!(Skywind and Falskaar being two). And a lot of the mods that were there were, for lack of a better word, horse armor(minus Frostfall which is one of My favorite mods as well as Arissa but maybe at a lower price then what he was asking for) This all around was just a massive disaster, and I'm relieved that it's over. And I hope people can calm the hell down and hopefully Chesko will come back to modding.
