This was actually an idea I was thinking about too, glad to see something similar here. I was thinking more of a Samus Aran-esque laser arm cannon, like the kind of projectile assualtrons use, or even a grenade launcher à la the mod for sentry bots in the new DLC. With Automatron out, the meshes for arm-mounted weapons exist, and it wouldn't be too difficult to make them usable weapons themselves. I was thinking it'd be possible to use those meshes and the third-person power armor pistol animations (holding just the right arm out vertically). It wouldn't be as cool as a power armor mod sure, but as long as the animations fit it wouldn't be too far off. I've never done something quite this advanced so I'm not sure, but the only two issues I can think of are the first-person animations not fitting and animating meshes (e.g. spinning minigun barrels) once they're converted to pistols. I can do textures (if they're even necessary), limited mesh stuff, and some FO4Edit stuff, but I'm trying to learn more with NifSkope and the like. Hopefully now that the Creation Kit is coming out it won't be too difficult to implement, but if anyone else is interested in working on this (Crosstieger) I'll lend my help however I can! EDIT: I'd also like to add that a popular mod for New Vegas did something similar, though for very different reasons. ST Robot Race included equipable arm cannons that "encased" the player's hand and used the pistol animations: ^That is basically what I'm hoping to achieve with power armor.

Importing customized face

Sorry to bump this so late, but I have to second this. DA:O, DA2, and all the Mass Effect games had a few different ways of achieving this. I understand Frostbite is a new engine, but surely the player character's morph info is saved within saves and can be replaced/exchanged like always right? =\ -
I just made a similar request myself! :) (Shameless plug!) (http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/789389-wrist-mounted-crossbowdartgun/) I do see a problem or two with this though... 1.) Can't you poison your arrows already with, well, poisons? 2.) You can already make NPCs attack other NPCs with Fury/Frenzy Illusion spells, though I think you meant more specific... I don't mean to say your ideas aren't good, they're great and I agree! But I feel like you can do some of this stuff already! :)

SO I'm an amateur modder, only adding things like waterwalking enchantments or simple retextures, and I've never been able to successfully edit any meshes. So, after countless hours of struggling with this thing, I'm requesting it here with the hopes someone interested and skilled enough would be willing to give it a shot. :pinch: I'm currently doing a stealth playthrough as an evil assassin type, and I realized that, as I refused to use Archery or Destruction spells yet again, I had nothing ranged to use at all. So the idea for this stealth weapon was born! The idea is simple though difficult to actually make. It'd function almost identical to a crossbow, but be much smaller, quieter, and maybe wrist mounted. I was hoping to make paralysis darts too, which I've worked on in the CK and have succeed (mostly) in making, but as bolts for crossbows. Honestly, even a small, compact crossbow would do, just something you could see an assassin using to quietly paralyze and dispatch targets with, instead of an enormous, loud, and clunky crossbow like the vanilla ones. I can learn quickly under pressure and I'm willing to offer any assistance I possibly can, so it wouldn't fall on one person (you?) to do the whole thing (unless that's preferable). Please give this a chance! I'm willing to bet a whole lot of people would like this one, not just me. :)

Alright so I made a previous topic regarding something like this, but it got buried in record time and only got one reply from someone saying they've had the same issue. Besides, I'm having different problems anyways, so new topic it is... Anyways, I've made a custom race based on the Nords and I've set up everything correctly but the body mesh. I've got a completed mesh that uses the default texture and works fine ingame (when used as a body replacer), but I can't seem to assign it to my custom race. I've seen several topics around these forums as well as other places, but no real solution. As of now, when I click preview in the race editor, I get a floating head and no body, despite the fact I've set and assigned the custom mesh. Does anybody know where I've gone wrong?

Bump again because I've made some progress but I'm currently struggling with assigning my complete mesh to the custom race... And I'm not the only one now! Somebody please help? :(

Well this got buried real fast... Bump for good luck?

So I'm totally new to modding. Like, 100% clueless-having-issues-installing-blender-properly new. I mean, I've played around with the CK for Fallout a bit, but in terms of actually creating and implementing a full fledged mod, I'm lost. I am however, willing and hoping to learn at least a little bit about the subject. That said, I really need one of three things: 1.) For somebody to guide me through the process of exactly what I'd like to do step by step. Which is rude and naive of me to ask, and generally unlikely (although you do all seem like nice folks, but I couldn't ask to take up so much of your time and patience). 2.) A more likely solution is for some kind soul to guide me to the various tutorials and/or experienced modders who specifically know how to solve the issue(s) I'm going to/have already faced. 3.) Or, someone has miraculously already made/ is working on the mod I seek. (VERY unlikely, but you never know...) The first logical step would be to actually mention what it is I'm trying to do, wouldn't it? ...Yeah I should do that. The main (and rather lofty) goal is to create either: A.) A custom race with a custom body and face mesh and texture. or B.) Make an entirely new slider on the character creation screen that would affect the body and face meshes and textures of all races. Option A is probably what I'll go for, since (I assume) it'll be easier to make one new race with the Creation Kit rather than edit the properties of ALL the others. More specifically what I'm attempting to do is add more body diversity in Skyrim. Specifically with the native Nord males, I'd like to add some bigger guys, as well as provide the option to use the same body mesh for a playable character. And I don't mean scale-bigger ( I could easily do that in the CK), I mean chubbier-bigger (hence the reason I need to edit the body mesh[es]). It'd be fun to have a unique character, and I've always felt that the "drink mead and be hearty" attitude of some should have a body to match. Yeah, I am pretty weird... SO, here's a list of things I assume I'll need to know how to do. 1.) Import the body mesh (.nif file) into a 3D mesh editor with a skeleton. I've tried this 3 times with varying configurations of Blender/Nifscripts, following different tutorials every time. All of them were for Oblivion though, so none worked... 2.) Actually be able to edit the mesh ( I have absolutely no experience with this at all. This will be a difficult step.) 3.) Somehow edit facegen meshes and/or settings to allow for bigger faces/features (bigger cheeks, lower chins, etc.). Skyrim does still use facegen like Fallout3/NV and Oblivion, right? 4.) Export meshes from aforementioned editing program and import it back into the CK ( I think I sort of know how to do this, and if I can't figure it out I think I know some tutorials to help) 5.) Implement everything into a new race with proper configuration (i.e. allow the race to be chosen on Character Creation screen, give it several perks/disadvantages, etc.) 6.) 500 other things I probably don't know about. I understand it's likely WAY too annoying to sit down and try to guide my stupid slow brain through all of this, so if you just know/have the patience to guide me through or link me to a tutorial on one of these parts, I'd appreciate it very much. If not, I totally understand. Regardless, for any of you who read all that stupidity, I applaud your honor and patience.
