Looks like the Imperials have gone back to being vile oppressors again. Time to put on some Stormcloak armor and collect some skulls for the Skull Thro-- --er Skyrim. :whistling:

The vague fate of heroes in previous TES games always drove me a little nuts. Its why the image of old Sheogorath just fuels the imagination... and feels like a finger is jabbing me in the eye every time I look at it. Its like suddenly being told the fate of your old character after years of waiting only for it to be cut off mid sentence. Of coarse, knowing how coy they will be about revealing what happened, I'll probably go completely nuts making and reading wild theories for the foreseeable future.
On wild theories, personally I prefer the idea that the Shivering Isle is the real power while Sheogorath isn't much more than an office. After all, unchanging rules govern taking office in the Isles and power taken from the land is what gets the CoC the job in the first place. As you've said though, that's just one player's (heretical) take on it. I wonder if he'd kill me if I said he wasn't really Sheogorath without his staff of office. :psyduck:

@AlbinoDunmer- I hope that doesn't turn out to be the case. It is rather depressing to think that the hero became completely like the old Sheogorath including his curses. Jyggalag having his own rebuilt land would have been cool to see in some future installment.
-
In defense of the Champion of Cyrodiil, after Oblivion, the hero did have his hands full with Shivering Isles becoming a god. I also doubt anyone would have wanted an Emperor who came out of that place no matter how powerful or noble they seemed.
The havoked clothing did look cool. It makes me wonder how prevalent it is and what modders can do with it.
-
@AurianaValoria1- Cool theory. Considering how weakened he probably was, it would make sense for Jyggalag's enemies to screw him over with the old Sheogorath. It makes even more sense that the Champion of Cyrodiil wouldn't be happy to see him either considering the brain eating and intestinal jump rope hobbies.

I'll probably just focus on as few skills as possible and choose perks however I feel like. Worse comes to worse, I'll just use console commands if my build turns out to be total crap. Thank goodness for PC gaming.

I had a flashback to "Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark" when I saw the pic.

Old and paranoid enough to be thankful there was a choice for too old.

First character is pure Lawful good. The next is genocidal chaotic evil. If it looks like it is worth the effort, I'd try to do a middle of the road character that tries to do everything in the game regardless of alignment.
-
I'd hazard to guess that I'm a little short of six hundred hours at this point. I'll probably break a thousand after I'm done with Skyrim though.
-
He could simply be an avatar used by the old hero. He/she's had 200 years to work on illusions. That or the champion was killed by Jyggalag after a while and was forced to become Sheogorath again. Funny, I was hoping to see if he carried a cane or the player's staff. Looks like he still loves cabbage though.

If they drop the price to twenty dollars and remove the Steam DRM I'd consider it.

As a frequent user of cheats, mods and console commands, I can't say this really bothered me though I do understand the frustration. It was just one of those things you took note in the first play through and then did differently whenever you felt like going for the next. If there were no cheats or mods though, I'd probably go berserk after a while.
-
I agree with InuyashaFE. If you don't like 'em then don't use them. I personally think of cheats as a feature of a game. Sure you don't need them and some don't care for them but it is good to have the option.

Ugh. No thanks. I play TES because it lets you feel like an epic hero/villain and can occasionally become a god. I don't play MMOs because there would be no mods and my character would be a drop in the bucket at best and at worst I'm surrounded by morons and trolls.
Hopefully they are just protecting their brand name by buying up all the TES related domains like mentioned earlier. No one likes the idea of clicking on a link that looks official only to get hit by some jerk spreading malware.

I wonder if there are any penalties associated with the races. I wouldn't mind Orcs getting the berserk bonus to even magic if they get an equivalent penalty after they are done.
-
Excuse the ignorant question since I haven't used it yet but would steam even let you run it if you got your copy before launch?
-
I thought all the game play footage was supposed to have characters that were deliberately pumped up to make them stronger. It would make sense though if they made combat encounters more numerous though. Instead of swinging your sword six times into one enemy, you swing it six times against four.
-
I'm an obscure custom race user so unless porting is really easy, I doubt it. If the races I play with do get ported though then Skyrim just got a lot more awesome for me.

Interesting point on running away. I generally found it too much of a hassle when I'm stuck in a dungeon, especially early on when skills and attributes were low. If you are willing to take a lot of hits without seaking retribution early on, I suppose it is possible to go that route. As an explody mage style player though, it really isn't my style.
-
I doubt it. Even if you can avoid killing in quests, you are bound to get attacked by random nameless bandits left and right. Unless you stay invisible or mass paralyze enemies all the time from the get go, you'll probably wind up having quite the body count of criminal scum. Charm probably won't work since all you are doing is setting one enemy against the other though fear may have decent results. I never tried it myself though. The temptation to wear shiny armor screwed up spell effectiveness so that charm spells tended to be useless against a lot of enemies after 25th level.

I'll support whoever didn't throw me in jail this time.
-
I hope not. Bad weather is not a friend to my internet connection and it would suck if it goes down before I get a chance to activate Skyrim.
-
It is an interesting concept. I don't think giving a player extra items or power for playing previous games is feasible/desirable though. Putting significant info or even quests that require knowledge of previous games to appreciate or even complete would be cool though.
