  1. I'm not willing to go through the Fu Manchu faze of facial hair before I get the beard that I want. A shame really. I really would enjoy the Pai Mei beard.

Now that you mention playing Elder Scrolls forever, I'd like to contend that I can stop anytime. Why just last week, I stopped using my PC altogether for three days after my video card blew a capacitor and I had to locate a six year old backup. T_T

  2. PC graphics really has stagnated for a while now haven't they? I never thought my five year old rig would still be able to run modern games. A part of me is disappointed to see so little significant improvement in graphics but another part of me is happy that I haven't had to spend more than 60 dollars to make my old rig ready to play Skyrim.
  3. It's funny. For some reason, I thought I would see at least one "Not going to play vote." :P

Anyway, unless they do a fantastic job fixing bugs, designing the UI, adding in high res textures and creating a lot of interesting variations on combat, I'll want to mod the hell out of the game. PC all the way and thankfully I'm in good company.

  4. LAN Multiplayer ~ Impossible

That depressed the hell out of me. My teenage cousins didn't even know what I meant when I told them about it and Diablo.

Anyway, to borrow from another post's format...

Crazy: Call in an A-10 Airstrike.

Wacky: Snoopy conducting strafing runs against players with his flying doghouse

    Undoable: GTA- Skyrim

  5. Huh. I was wondering if Skyrim was going tp bring more stuff back for nostalgia like were wolves but so far all I ever hear is denials and innuendo. Personally I wouldn't write it off completely yet given its popularity and the possibility that they have been good at keeping features secret but I can't help but wonder if the developers simply want to do more new content instead of reimagining old popular features.
  6. Tough call. I don't know if it was just the video but Arena and Oblivion seem quite short with oblivion sounding a bit less sophisticated than the rest. Daggerfall, Morrowind and Skyrim all have a lot of character though so it is tough to judge. Depending on my mood, I would say either Morrowing or Skyrim is the best. Today, it I vote Skyrim.
  7. @natelovesyou: I honestly am uncertain about how to respond to such an emotional post though I'll try remain civil. My desire is for TES, a series that has prostitution openly linked to its society, both economy and historically, to have nudity.

In a R rated movie, if you walk into whorehouse, no one would be surprised to see nudity. Why should this be so different for an M rated game that has a quest about one?

Now would the inclusion of a few nipples drive away the gaming community? Forgive me if I am wrong but I could have sworn nudity has been in games for well over a decade now. Either that or the succubi from Diablo were wearing pasties like the strippers in GTA San Andreas.

I apologize if my posts somehow made you imagine I advocated including nudity and sexual content in all adult media in every line and in every scene. As I said before, I simply feel gaming companies should not restrain themselves from including such content, especially if it adds to the atmosphere. Besides, I only wanted to see it in every other line, scene and subliminally in every 20th frame of animation.

@jedimembrain, xaliqen & aaroncox: Now those are positions I can respect. Don't go crazy because there's nudity or sex in the game. Make nudity optional instead of leavin it to mods. As I always say, choice is good.

But seriously let's stop this bickering. People could care more about DRM, bugs and poor console ports than nudity in Skryim. Hell, this thread is supposed to be about kids.

Can we adopt them? (I hope so.) Are there babies? (Doesn't sound like it.) Can we have one in Skyrim? (I doubt it but it would be cool.) Can we kill them? (Looking at how it was done in Fallout, probably not; which is a shame.) Did I miss anything?

  8. @InuyashaFE- By your logic, Skyrim can thrive without duo wielding since previous elder scrolls thrived without that too. Just let the blood thirsty modders do it. After all, not everyone wants blood in their video games.

Amazingly, though we all want to kill a dragon or twelve when they play Skyrim, most of us are looking for more than your usual hack n' slash like marriage, kids or heaven forbid nudity in a M rated game. TES has thrived without this stuff but it has changed before and when has any series thrived by changing nothing?

If "God of War" didn't cause a significant backlash with its violence and nudity, I doubt Bethesda has much to worry about if they add in nudity in TES.

Now back to topic... Argonians laid eggs? I always thought that wasn't confirmed or disproved in lore. If that's the case, I'd love to be able to buy and sell the suckers with my evil character.

  9. Some of us don't wanna look at a bandit's wang every time we loot them. That's why I'd rather it be mods, so people have the option, but isn't forced onto the players.

Some people don't want to see blood splattering out of neck cavities. Would you say everyone should cater to their wishes and leave blood and death out of video games? I'm not saying every corpse should be naked when stripped of equipment but if you are going to a bath, strip club or a prostitute's house, then it stands to reason that there should be nudity. If you don't like that, then you should not be playing that game.

justwannaddl - that's a rather extremist view, don't you think? To say that since a game is "rated M" it clearly needs to have the most rated M content? What about the kind of game that BETHESDA wants to make. They didn't put in nudity because that's not what they want in the game, clear and simple. Go ahead and wait for your mods for nude characters walking around with huge boobs and Sloth's realistic weiners, I for one think that's worrisome. OF ALL THE THINGS people care to mod into a game...

The views I mentioned are hardly extreme. It isn't as if I said the next Mario game should have a hot coffee mini game built in. All I said was that nudity should be in games targeted to adults. Developers designing games should not be terrified of having it. People like Nudity. People generally are nude when they go to the bathroom and they have to get nude when they are having coitus. Situations involving nudity happens frequently in real life and its complete absence, like the absence of children, detracts from the immersion in an open world sandbox.

Whenever I hear someone defending censoring out nudity and kids in games, I think back to 1992 when people were whining about the blood and fatalities in Mortal Kombat. I hope it won't take another twenty years before people treat games with a more balanced standard relative to television and movies. That is what I find worrisome.

I think the real question is, once we CAN have kids, can we kill them, skin them, and if so, does their skin count as a Dragon hide to let us make Dragon armor?

    8)

I always thought young dragon hides were too weak to be worth the effort. It's probably better to use them as easy vampire food or feed them into black soul gems. Young innocent souls should be worth more than crusty evil souls after all.

  10. In principle, so long as they don't try to turn Elder Scrolls into a WoW clone where they ban mods and force always online internet connections, I'll be fine with multiplayer in Elder scrolls. I probably won't bother with it since I like to mod the crap out of Bethesda games but I won't object to the option of having more players in the mix. Choice is good. Stupid Diablo 3...
  11. I actually wouldn't mind aging in the game if it were implemented well. It would certainly change the way people pick and choose their characters given the races' different life spans. That said, it is probably too complex for this iteration of Elder Scrolls at least. A shame really since I'd love to see babies turn into old men over years of playing the game.

@InuyashaFE - I'm the opposite to your position. Nudity should not only be allowed but also be prevalent. This game isn't being marketed to kids anyway so it should be allowed the same content as you'd find for other media geared towards adults, including nudity. As for kids, I never understood people's resistance to kids in games. It isn't as if you won't see kids in TV and movies for adults and they tend to get treated a lot worse than anything players can do to kids in games.

  12. I'm not too keen on an arena like hoard mode but I would like to occasionally face more swarm situations. It seems the majority of combat in Oblivion was against three enemies or less with a lot of single combat encounters, especially when it came to the side quests. I used to just run through an entire dungeon to get all the enemies to chase me to kill the repetitiveness. Sure it often got my ass killed bit it sure was fun fighting off six enemies in one tiny room.
  13. As others have already said, its doubtful this will be the last Elder scrolls game. It is probably the last Elder scrolls for the current gen of consoles if Bethesda keeps its normal dev cycle. I do worry that it may be the last single player Elder scrolls though. Too many titles are jumping on the multiplayer and mmo bandwagon nowadays and too few support mods as well as Bethesda does.
  14. Agreed on the observation on the regression of Elder Scrolls. At the rate things are going in Tamriel knowledge will regress to the stone age after Skyrim. It makes me wish the dwemer or a successor race were brought into play to reintroduce some innovation into the Elder Scrolls world. With the way things have progressed, the current dirt dwellers in Skyrim seem to be lucky if they still can read.
  15. Staffs are the magical equivalent of guns and rocket launchers. Unfortunately they are usually limited to at best semi automatic fire. I would not object to staffs that can shoot the equivalent of fully automatic fire or at least three round bursts. Pelting an area with rapid fire low level flares or a continuous stream of lightning would be cool.

I do not agree with the no cannons in the future idea though. Just make magical ones like the Oblivion Siege Crawler; big, rare and insanely powerful.

  16. They already had some general racism in Oblivion but they never focused too hard on it. Daedra of course saw every mortal as unworthy scum. Malacath and his followers didn't like non-orcs. In one of the SI side quests one of the crazies hated cats to the point that he wouldn't give Khajit his quest. That said, it is true that it did not feel as though racism was as prevalent in Oblivion as one may expect. It was always more subtle like all the guards are always Imperial.
  17. The lack of technological development, even minor ones is a bit of a put off. What is more frustrating though is the lack of magical achievements. It always felt, in Oblivion at least, that all the best discoveries were not only in the past but also lost. Dwemer magic tech and Ayleid stone/wells come to mind. They've had centuries to rediscover and research the highly valued tech and magic but with few exceptions even the most basic knowledge is still lost.
  18. Mildly. I don't care much for crossbows but I would have thought adding throwing wouldn't have been too difficult. I loved throwing daggers with deadly reflex even if it was a pain to equip new ones every time I toss one. If they could have made it so you could wield and throw everything, then that would have meant something. I cannot say that the lack of these features is much of a disappointment though. I'm more worried that the gamewill implode if I try to install or play it without patching.
  19. When I'm drunk out of my mind and on a murder tear through Skyrim, there shall be no essential characters. If I run over a kid with a modded pink flying dragon I expect him to either die or turn into a Crazy Alcohol Rainbow Pig. Though I'd prefer the latter, I'm cool with the former.

In fact, I hope Bethesda has the balls to make them kill-able out of the box instead of copping out and leaving it to mods instead. Movies, books and TV shows has stories about kids being raped, murdered, eaten and stuffed in a fridge. Games, especially games marketed to adults, need to stop being held to such an idiotic a double standard and focus on making the best story they can without worrying about what some soccer mom or hypocritical politician is going to say..

  20. I wouldn't mind having some disposable heroes. I love the idea of commanding red shirts. I used to send mage apprentices to their doom all the time. On that note, having an animal trainer would be cool. I'd love to send a swarm of 20 mudcrabs and rats off to their doom. That and have a pet bear. I would name him "Pookie."
