  1. @WizardOfAtlantis: Youtube pays its members who join their partner's program for views. I don't see how that is so different from Megaupload. I also don't see how a person's spending habits have anything to do with this case unless the money was used to buy drugs, prostitutes and other illicit uses.

I'm sure they probably have done some questionable things considering their founder was an ex-con but if you could explain what dubious actions MU has done, I'd like to see them. From all the articles and the wiki, the only thing I see them getting in trouble for is actively trying to attract pirates instead of simple users and even then, the DoJ better have a lot of damning evidence proving such motivations.

  2. It's a shame. Megaupload wasn't bad if you used firefox and adblocking. It is ridiculous to indiscriminately attack what is essentially the car company instead of the smugglers and scammers who use it. It would be like shutting down Ford for selling moonshiners stock cars.
  3. I hope the next game will have a stronger emphasis on water exploration and combat. Those were some of my favorite elements that Oblivion did fairly well. The giant slaughter fish, ghostly mudcrab and giant mudcrab were some of my favorite easter eggs.
  4. If you have found someone requesting child porn, report them. If someone posted a child porn mod, report them. The adult filter works well but nothing is perfect. If you find a mod that you think should be in the adult section, be couteous and PM the modder. If the modder doesn't respond, PM the admin.

We don't need thread complaining about child porn on this site because house rules prohibit child porn in the first place. School uniforms in and unto themselves are not child porn. If they were then Britiney Spears would be in jail for promoting them. There are filters, lists and search tools. There is no reason you cannot find what you like and leave this conversation at a site that needs it.

  5. The only CTD I had in recent memory was when I tried to quit using the console while I was in the showracemenu. I probably had one or two more involving the use of the command console but over all, ctds aren't a concern which is pretty good for beth games.

Broken quests and wierd bugs on the otherhand... :psyduck:

  6. My surprise was fighting in Labyrinthian. I was way too green to reasonably go in there and found myself constantly running away. When I got to Morokei, he one shotted me for about a half hour before I just gave up and went for a barage of firebolts in hopes of stun locking him. Even then, I only beat him because he bugged out and froze, before I ran out of mana. Killing Estormo after that hell with the staff of magnus was sweet joy. Coming back after I got dead thrall to find his corpse was still there was even better.

Another one was a strange one. The forsworn were fighting an imperial patrol and slaughtered them. I expected them to go after me next but all they did was say hello and you shouldn't be here. Similarly, I was on a quest to slay a dragon. I arrived but the dragon wouldn't turn hostile. It landed infront of me and just stared. I was queite torn about what to do so I simply did my summons test on both. The summons didn't do anything against the forsworn but attacked the dragon. Thus did the forswron live and the dragon lost its soul.

  7. Criticism: Poor UI. Faction quests were not as engaging. Most quests are far too linear. NPCs, especially guards, generally treat you like dirt. Destruction magic is far too weak. Conjuration magic lacks variety. Exploration is a chore due to impassible mountains at almost every corner. Horses are pointless. Everyone except the kids look old. Kids are invincible brats unless you mod them. No water combat. No meters to tell you how much longer an effect lasts. Did I mention the UI sucks?

Praise: Graphics are better than stock Oblivion. Random encounters on the road are more varied. Leveling system does not force players to focus on raising certain skills they do not care about to max out stats. No athletics and no acrobatics means no need to restrain oneself from running and jumping because one worries about leveling up involuntarily. Voice acting has improved over the crap in Oblivion. Traps have improved in variety and quantity. Necromancy is fun. Evil missions are a lot more evil.

Hope: They make a better UI next time. Faction quests will be more detailed and involved. There will be more mazes. Fame and infamy will be reinstituted. Spell customization or creation will be put i the game. Conjuration will have more options like scamps, bears and spider daedra. Climbing or flying is implemented. Horse combat, saddle bags or faster horses are added. No NPC is made essential. They die, then you reload or play on. Allow some kind of water combat, even if it is limited or even dangerous. Bring back the meters so I know how much time is left in my spells. Did I mention make a decent UI next time?

  8. You'll likely want a dog and a melee fighter at your side as well as restoration and illusion magic. Illusion would be a good fallback to calm or scare away enemies while restoration will provide support, healing and undead turning. If you don't want to do magic, alchemy and sneak will be the way to go. Load down on potions of healing, fortify skill and invisibility. I've been grinding alchemy and enchanting while using the latter strategy on my second character though I really only used it for wandering and I do run away a lot.
  9. Actually, after finishing the main quest in Oblivion, you got a lot of accolades as the CoC. Also, with a high enough fame, everyone was basically gushing all over you. Similarly, once you are Sheogorath, the inhabitants of the Isles generally refered to you as such, including the Saints and Seducers.
  10. Just to check, what is your play style? Are you trying to be good or evil? Perhaps the character build you are using just isn't working for you. From the sound of your frustration, doing evil missions may be more up your alley.
  11. It is a tough call on what would go into a good starter pack. Mod conflicts because of the fairly fragmented nature of modding tend to screw up attempts to even make a thorough guide.

For the old UI, you should look into using Darnified UI. Change the inventory to grid mode and you'll wonder how you ever used the stock system. Don't forget the unofficial patches to fix the many bugs and possibly fast exit if you are getting crashes after exiting. I also liked Unnecessary Violence II. If you use a lot of custom armors and weapons or get tired of having to empty your inventory and don't mind using a minor cheat, the weight lifting mod is really worth a look.

The basic leveling system was... underwhelming. For min/max players especially it was a pain to concentrate only on certain skills to max out stats. I don't know about the mods you are using but a general rule of thumb was that you wanted to concentrate on maxing endurance early on in order to max out your HP.

  12. I do wonder about there not being dragonborn during the banishment of Alduin. The mortal heroes who banished him certainly were unusually gifted with the Voice. All the dragons are also keenly aware of dragonborn mortals, though they obviously could have simply learned about them after Alduin was banished.
