  1. @Lachdonin: Actually, it did fall to just such a force in the beginning of the war. It was only after the Thalmor saw how easy it was to beat the Imperials there that they pressed on to Cyrodiil with the other portion of their army.

After the war, since the Thalmor had no invasion force left, it was only a matter of getting rid of the occupation force for Hammerfell; a goal that would may have been made easier if the empire had the will to liberate the former province instead of capitulate. Such an act would have been a gamble though since any soldiers sent to Hammerfell meant less soldiers to maintain control and security in its own lands.

Edit: Forgot to include that most of the forces, Cyrodiil and Hammerfell went on to sack the IC. Hammerfell was likely around half the army. In any case, most of the invasion force was destroyed after the IC was retaken.

  2. hajiits r cool i mean come on who doesn't like cat girls

Case and point, i dont. Plus, i don't beleive there are any marryable Khajit in the game...

As for who fits the list... I can't think of anyone who meets all the characteristics.

Aela is, imo, missing 3 and 4.

    Ysolde is missing 5

Saying 'no' to Elves in general cuts out 6 possibles...

Maybe try Jordis. the Solitude Houscarl?

All the housecarls violate the don't say sworn rule.

  3. As for now, the Aldmeri provinces have much wider authonomy than they did as part of the Empire, and Aldmeri occuparion during the Great War was nothing compared to say Ulfic's tactics, who also was an imperial subordinate when taking back the Reach. And yeah, the Dunmer servant was treated like a servant, while the human nobility was treated like a nobility in the Embassy.

Funny. I didn't know Ulfric was a genocidal freak. If that author of the Markarth massacre is to believed then Whiterun and Solitude must be bloody pits full of civilian corpses after he takes it from the Imperials.

As for the Thalmor giving their provinces autonomy, I guess it is pretty easy to give a country autonomy after you invade it, conduct kidnappings, purge dissidents and assassinate local leaders in order to eliminate any opposition and install puppet governments. I'm sure Valenwood welcomed their new masters with open arms. :whistling:

  4. When I pray at the statue of Talos, I get a blessing and he heals my diseases. That's good enough for me to believe he is more than a man. The Thalmor should try praying at one of these things, might change their mind =p

The only thing they'd probably get is arrested and killed for engaging in heretical activities.

  5. I'm assuming you never got past using the free horse in Oblivion. Oblivion had quite a few horses, ranging from slow and bulky like Skyrim's sad excuse for a horse and fast and strong. A black horse was a far cry from the painted meat horses.

I used all including Shadowmere, they were still the shame horse coloured differently, some horses had more HP and were faster but they still looked the same!

Huh. I always thought the upgrade between horses was pretty noticeable. Have you ever tried the Unicorn? That was a very interesting horse to use.

  6. In the empire as a whole, Necromancy apparently was never banned. On the more local level, it is usually banned for practical reasons. After all, a ready supply of bodies is not usually available through legal channels. In Oblivion, with the Mages Guild's policy against Necromancy, it was effectively banned in Cyrodiil.
  7. Dead thrall allows you to raise dead people with no time limit and no disintegration. Some people cannot be raised because of decapitations, disintegration or simply because they are too high level. Named bosses in general can usually be raised and rearmed though not re-armored. This makes dead thrall potentially the most powerful conjuration spell in the game. It is a master level spell.

  8. I dunno about not seeing the nuclear option again. TES has a history of maniacs and megalomaniacs who not only sought them out but used them to conquer and destroy entire civilizations.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Thalmor are going to make another Numidium or other equally devastating magical atrocity. That is probably where the magical superiority will kick in. You wouldn't expect a magically poor land like Skyrim to build a doomsday machine but you wouldn't be surprised if the Thalmor did.

Back to topic, I just don't see High Rock being much of a threat in the long term. TES is probably going to throw some monkey wrench into the place like the empire collapses and the Forsworn somehow convinced High Rock to invade Skyrim.

  9. A Dwemer Centurion or giant spider mount (mechanical or otherwise) would be nice exotic choices to add. One would be a relatively reasonably way to ride a giant robot in TES and the other would be an incredibly useful mountain climbing mount.

It would be able to scale any surface and would never fall to its death because it would have a life line of silk as it moves along.

  10. I tend to disagree with the idea that magic doesn't win wars. It is just that lesser magic is so common that every army has battle mages at this point. Overpowering artifacts like the Numidium or the Heart of Lorkhan, which are pretty much the nuclear options in TES, have the kind of magic you need to win wars. That is why you have magic hunters looking for powerful artifacts like the Eye of Magnus to tip the scales in their favor. It's also why I don't trust those thieving Psijics stole my shiny glowy ball. :verymad:
  11. First off - one "class" of horse, really? BORING!!!

Lets be honest, Oblivion only had one breed of horse unless you would call a different colour a completely different experience of riding ^^

I cant believe im gonna say this, but i think war horses would be a good idea (aka horse armour) to make them more intimidating and better at taking blows.

& obviously mountable dragons will be great.

  12. Without impact and/or destruction magic reduction armor, you'll have a tough time using destruction and conjuration at the same time. A lot of times, you'll probably need to precast your summons and wait for your magic to regen before you go into combat. As a force of habit, I used to make a summons, throw down a fire rune and wait until my magic regens before going into the more dangerous rooms.

On the other hand, after I hit double summoning, all I ever needed were two dremora lords or two dead thrall mages and I could pretty much just hang back and watch them wipe out a room with out me even bothering to use destruction.

  13. Dead thralls and dremora lords are the end game spells. Atronachs are alright but a mage dead thrall armed with staves are more mobile and versitile. Once you master conjuration, you hardly ever need to do anything more.
  14. I think its related to the Missing in Action quest that's bugged. If you choose a diplomatic solution, you can talk to General Tullius and all he says is that would cause a problem to the Thalmor. Obviously, you need to go to the embassy to request the release of the prisoner, that's quite obvious. But there's no one there. The Thalmor guard at the prison just keeps saying you need an Imperial/Thalmor permission to get the prisoner released.

I read, if you are imperial aligned, you can try to bluff your way through by wearing the imperial officer's uniform. I didn't bother though since killing the Thalmor is far more satisfying for me.

    edit: Make that legionaire armor.

  15. Never tried wabbajack. I just went straight for the Staff of Sheogorath. Thanks for the tip.

Personally, I'm fine with not directly fighting Dagon. It gives him the feeling that he really is a god instead of just an over sized monster the way Jyggalag felt.

  16. It was next to the Imperial Guard's training at the courtyard I believe. It serves no purpose as far as I can tell. If I was a thief, I'd consider looting it for all its worth. I've never seen anyone in there when I visited.
  17. First time through I didn't get involved in the civil war until late. However I did think the stormcloaks were more deserving because the elves / imperials were trying to impose their culture on the native nords. That all changed when I went to Markarth and played through the Forsworn missions. So IMO you have the scumbag elves controlling the imperials stomping on the nords freedom. But at the same time you have the stormcloaks stomping on the forsworn's freedom. Both sides are bastards, but I prefer to slaughter elves. I wish you could side with the forsworn in a meaningful way.

Y'know, I might have felt the same way about the forsworn if they weren't a bunch of genocidal worshipers of cannibalistic hagravens. If Markarth was as messed up then as it is now, I wouldn't blame Ulfric for taking no prisoners during his assault.

  18. Essential characters really are annoying. If I "accidentally" shoot one five times in the face, I expect them to die. That reminds me. It is time to find out how to turn off all essential flags in the game. I feel like going on a rampage now that I have finished everything.
